Attention-stealer

Everyone in the room was silent. Raizel was probably the only one who was the most nervous, as it was his first time committing murder. However, he believed the police didn't have much evidence to arrest him. So he continued his charade of playing dumb.

"Ahh, I just remembered something!" exclaimed the old man who managed to break the silence in the room. He stood up from his seat with a bright face, and a few seconds later turned somber.

"What do you know, old man?" the police asked probingly.

"For the past two weeks in our neighborhood there have been incidents similar to the case of the thug's death."

"Really? So this isn't the first case!" exclaimed Moksee cutting off the old man's explanation. She was surprised by her high curiosity, even widening her eyes.

Raizel also turned to the old man. He was intrigued by the explanation the old man was about to give.

"Tell us everything!" ordered the senior police officer as he sat up straight.

The old man nodded, he began to explain, "A very heinous murder, the perpetrator left the same mark. That is, killing the victim by hollowing out the chest, then taking out the heart."

"Many of our pets became victims. The dog, the cat, the pig died mysteriously. We believe that the culprit is not human, but..." the old man hung up the story, he looked at all the people's reactions one by one.

Everyone was focused on the old man's story without blinking. Moksee hugged her own body tightly, she was horrified at the thought of it happening to Blackie.

"So, what?" asked Moksee with her mouth trembling.

"The fox demon. It deliberately eats the heart of its victims in order to live forever," said the old man who completed the story. His enthusiasm was signaled by clasping his hands together in a clawed shape as he howled.

"Impossible!" exclaimed Raizel and the senior police officer almost simultaneously. The two also looked at each other without realizing they had the same thought.

Raizel held his breath, he remembered that his powers came from Gumiho. Raizel tried to remember the events of last night, did he take the heart of the thug's head and eat it. Because if he did, his future was bleak and he ended up in prison.

"That story sounds like a fairy tale, how could it happen in this modern age?" denied the senior police officer while shaking his head. He didn't want to believe it.

"But, sir. Unfortunately, the old man's story is true and has become viral news lately. But this time the victim is human. That thug became the third case. Now, Junho's team is investigating." the junior cop added with a grimace. He was getting nervous and scared to explain his own story. Because he might be the next victim.

"Are you not aware of this important news yet?" the junior cop asked probingly.

"Uhmm... Ehmm!" the senior cop coughed. He clenched his left hand over his mouth and he tried to keep an embarrassed expression on his face. He also looked for an alibi, "Ohh, I've been too busy these weeks."

"Alright, you can all go home!" The senior police officer gave a follow-up order, not wanting to be the subject of ridicule any longer preferring to close the case as soon as possible.

Raizel bowed his head to hide his knotted smile. He stepped out of the police station with relief. When the three of them stopped at the bus stop, the old man said to Raizel, "Congratulations on your freedom. Don't hesitate to ask me a favor, I live 3 houses down from yours."

"Thank you for your help and offer, sir. I will always remember your kindness," said Raizel with a sincere smile. He was glad there were people who cared about him, like the old man.

The old man nodded as he returned Raizel's smile. He turned his head to the side to find the bus to his house arriving, "Let's go home!"

"I want to go outside for a while, sir. You may go first," Raizel replied.

"Alright. Be careful outside," the old man nodded. He entered the bus leaving Raizel with Moksee.

Moksee extended a hand to Raizel, she smiled as she introduced herself, "My name is Moksee. I live at the end of the compound."

Raizel accepted Moksee's handshake hesitantly. He smiled stiffly when dealing with a woman. However, he tried to remain calm. He replied, "Raizel."

"Good! We're starting to be friends today. I'll go first!" exclaimed Moksee with flushed cheeks. It was also her first time having physical contact with a man. Moksee hurriedly turned around, then ran away from Raizel to cover her embarrassment.

Raizel smiled embarrassedly as he saw the running Moksee while turning around, then she waved at him. Raizel waved back at Moksee with a smile still perfectly spread across his face.

"She's pretty cute," Raizel muttered. He sighed, looking down briefly. After which he spread his arms while throwing his head back. Raizel laughed and exclaimed happily, "Haha, this is awesome! I feel reborn!"

Raizel's feelings were so happy, tonight he wanted to leave all his lousy self behind. Raizel was determined to live a better life than before.

"Alright. I'll try to run from this bus stop all the way home. I wonder how fast I can go, huh?" muttered Raizel grinning. He pulled his left leg back, body crouched slightly and with an optimistic smile he ran.

Raizel's physical strength was far above normal humans in general. He darted like a bullet, creating quite a strong wind around him. It was no wonder that many light and heavy objects flew into the air when he passed it.

"Yuhu! I'm good!" exclaimed Raizel.

The night ended with renewed vigor, desire, and life. The moon shone brightly, slowly replaced by the sunlight that illuminated the universe.

Everyone was going about their activities, in various places people were busy chasing time. Raizel's campus was no exception, there were bright smiles, the faces of enthusiasm for seeking knowledge on the faces of almost all students.

"I look perfect today. The term campus goddess is not too much for me," Yumna murmured in self-praise. She lowered her powder mirror, then she bagged it and was ready to get out of the car.

Yumna walked like a model, with her hair down, she held her chin high with confidence. Yumna could feel the admiring glances of everyone around her.

However, when Yumna passed by a group of students, she didn't hear any whispered voices admiring her beauty. There were no random guys complimenting her openly while saying 'Yumna is my goddess.'

"Strange! What happened today?" muttered Yumna. She looked around at all the students. Yumna found that all eyes were not on her, but on a young man who walked 4 steps right in front of her.

"Asshole! Who dares to compete with me? I won't stay silent!" Yumna cursed angrily. With her hands clenched, she walked after the young man while wondering, "Who the hell is he?"
