51 First Target

Leo frowned as the white flourescent bulb above his hospital

bed. He blinked once and blinked again before he could get his eyes adjusted to the new light. He turned away from the bulb and tried to roll off the bed but he failed as pain shot through his body.

"Damn" he cursed as he fought through the blinding pain.

"You know, for a minute there you had me start thinking you were immortal and then you spend a whole day in an Intensive Care Unit for one single bullet wound" Helen said to him with smile from the side of his bed as he groaned in pain.

"Helen, how are you doing?" He asked with concern and sadness in his voice as he looked at her.

"Don't" she replied while closing her eyes.

"Don't what?" Leo asked in confusion.

"Don't look at me with pity, I don't want to be pitied" she said with conviction as she opened her eyes back.

"I'm sorry" Leo said as he sat up in his head again while fighting all the sensations in his body.

"Promise me one thing Leo" Helen said in a shaky voice.
