I'll Save You!

Chapter 5: Upriver

After eating until he was full ,Lucas was have two left over fish. One being the biggest fish. Lucas found some leaves to cover his food so that he can eat it while he walk, he found a fan like leaves and was about to take it when an idea came to his mind.

" I should be using investigation more frequent. It doesn't need mana and maybe i can increased it's so called proficiency as I used it"

He then cast investigation with his mind and a prompt appeared

( Big leaves , inedible , toxic(low))

Lucas was shock to see the description of the leaves, he was thankful that he decided to check it first.

With that, Lucas continued to use investigation on the other leaves around. It all show a prompt of leaves, while a couple of pants was poisonous,most are just a bunch of normal leaves.

Lucas gathered a bunch of palm size leaves with normal prompt and took it back. He then cover it around the fish and with some sticks he made it into a some kind of huge pack leaves.

He carried it and pick up his sharpened stick and walk upriver. His idea was that if the river came from a mountain then there is a high possibility of him finding a village there for in a wilderness like the place he was right now ,the most likely to have a village is in a foot of a mountain.

He walk forward on the rocky river shore but his movement seems unimpeded by the uneven path, he believe that this was the result of his high agility stats.

He also felt that he was not getting tired even though he was already walking for almost an hour, he attributed it to his endurance as this was the only logical explanation.

He then keeps on using investigation as he walk, on a tree , on a bush , on the fishes , on the birds and on a wolf. Lucas was stunned and stop on his track.

( Wolf, predator , will eat you)

Grr..

The wolf is now standing a few paces away from him grunting at him. Lucas was flabbergasted by the size of the wolf in front of him. It was atleast double the size of the dogs he saw on back on earth, it has a dark gray fur which are prickly showing its aggression.

Lucas instincts tell him that this is not a normal wolf at all, its a monster.

With a slow movement Lucas put down his fishes and hold the sharpened stick with both his hand. With the common knowledge about wolves , Lucas scanned around him for more wolves as he know wolf never hunt alone.

He used investigation around him until he had slight headache but he was not been able to see any sign of other wolves.

'it must be a lone wolf'

The wolf slowly step forward to him while baring its teeth. Lucas tighten his hold on his makeshift spear and readied his body to react.

*Growl*

The wolf leap forward after it decide that's it was close enough. It's speed was fast and it's aggression almost made Lucas paralyzed.

* Swoosh*

Lucas then swinged his stick at the wolf in a quick movement. It hit the side of the wolf sending it flying to the left. It hit a tree and let out a whine.It fell on the ground but standup again after a few seconds .

Lucas thought that his strike should have shown the wolf that he was not an easy prey and will make it retreat but the bloodshot eyes of the wof says otherwise, it will not run away.

It walked slowly to get near him again, it eyes now showing a clear killing intent. It walk with a noticable limp showing that his attack ha lve some effect on it.

The wolf then circled around Lucas as it looked for an opening while Lucas follow suit and turn around facing always the wolf.

Lucas removed one of his hand on the stick and raised it up.

The wolf sees it and assume that Lucas was now in a relax fashion and will not be able to counterattack. It leap again ,but Lucas have expected it. Lucas side step to dodge the wolf attack.

On his hand , a ball of fire appeared and with a quick movements he threw the fireball with all his strength at the wolf.

The wolf saw the ball of fire coming but as it still have it's momentum of its previous attack, was not be able to dodge and was hit cleanly.

* Boom*

An explosion ensue,blood and scorch flesh was scattered around even reaching Lucas an hitting him with a few.

" Ew, what the hell!?"

"" Unsaved a life , 1 SP point deducted""

"" Killed a dire wolf (lvl8) , 80 exp gained!""

"" Save a life , 100 SP gained""

"" Save a life , 100 SP gained""

" Huh ? Only a point reduction"

Lucas wondered as he walk to the river to wash up the residue of his opponent form his body.

" System ,why is it only a point of reduction"

"" The system judge the degree of unsaving and have conclude the killing demonic beast will save more life, that why the system will now put all the reduction of SP on unsaving of demonic beast be set to minimum "

" Oh ? So as long that I kill only demonic beast,the reduction will only be 1?"

""No""

Lucas pause as he wait for more explanation but the system did not elaborate any further.

Lucas asked about it but the system just always no. This made Lucas understood that he might have no authority to know the condition for the judgement of the system.

He just decide to throw it out his mind and continued to wash his face and body.

Afterwards he retrieved his fish and walk forward again.

Lucas look back at the remains of his first opponent in this magic world and a great sense of accomplishment sprouted on his heart. A beam of smile appears on his face.
