Chapter 9: The Campbell Family's Business Banquet

Ethan couldn't help but feel a bit surprised hearing Aboli speak like that.

Seeing Ethan's reaction, Aboli immediately burst into laughter, shaking her head, and said, "No, I was just kidding."

To Ethan's surprise, the astonishment on his face became even more evident at that moment.

Unable to help herself, Aboli glanced at him and asked, "Is something the matter?"

Ethan shook his head, his expression returning to normal. "No, it's just that when you joke, you should smile a bit. Your serious demeanor makes it seem like you're really serious. Plus, I was just somewhat surprised to see you laugh."

Ethan had thought Aboli didn't know how to laugh; her demeanor and presence were akin to a snowflake.

Upon hearing this, a slight curve formed on Aboli's lips, though it quickly returned to normal.

She looked at Ethan, suddenly serious, and said, "The Campbell family is hosting a business dinner tomorrow night. Could you protect me until the end of the event? I'm afraid there might be some other incident, and I'm sure I can offer you the reward you want."

Ethan shook his head in response. "No need, I just want to ensure the Dragon's Blood Grass can safely reach me. I'll protect you until the end of the dinner as a token of appreciation for the Dragon's Blood Grass."

In reality, finding the ingredients for Ethan's medicine was quite difficult.

Just treating Mr. Campbell could get him the Dragon's Blood Grass, which was incredibly easy, so Ethan felt that protecting Aboli wouldn't be an issue.

Moreover, Aboli was truly a good girl, someone they could be friends with.

Seeing Ethan respond so readily, Aboli's lips curved up slightly, and in this way, she and Ethan could have more time to interact with each other.

She wanted to see if Ethan had any talents that would surprise her further.

Time passed swiftly, and before they knew it, it was the evening of the following day, the very night of the Campbell family's business dinner.

Thanks to Ethan, Mr. Campbell, who had been bedridden just the day before, was now able to stand with a cane and host the dinner normally. It was truly a miracle!

At the StarS building of the Campbell conglomerate, a hotel that combined modern beauty with classic elegance, considered a haven for couples traveling.

The scenery inside the hotel could even surpass many tourist spots in Gloria.

Alice walked through the hotel's main gate and into the dinner party.

She stood out on the red carpet, her red dress flowing elegantly, making her look even more stunning and radiant.

Her beautiful face almost made her the center of attention immediately!

The secretary following Alice was amazed as she looked at the scenery inside the StarS hotel. 

Although she had been here before, today the place was extravagantly decorated, with sparkling lights and fresh flowers everywhere, making it feel more like a flower garden than a hotel. 

She couldn't help but say, "This place is stunning."

Alice smiled a little ambitiously in response, "We're also trying to make AG become like this."

The secretary immediately nodded vigorously, clasping her hands together, saying, "I believe you can do it, Madam Chairwoman. You are truly the most talented young woman I know!"

Alice chuckled a bit but said nothing.

As the two were conversing, someone suddenly approached.

"Alice, you're here. I've been waiting for you."

The tone sounded very familiar.

Boster smiled as he said this, getting closer to Alice.

Alice subtly shifted away.

Boster noticed and rolled his eyes, his gaze turning solemn, but quickly returned to normal.

He smiled, saying, "Alice, haven't you thought about my proposal? Can't you have any feelings for me? We can get to know each other; you've already agreed to me."

Alice looked at Boster, devoid of much emotion, and said, "You know, I just got divorced; I haven't fully sorted out my feelings yet."

Of course, this was just an excuse for her; she didn't really fancy Boster that much.

Boster smiled again, "That's okay, I don't mind. I'm sure I can help AG a lot. Your company can definitely secure a partnership with the Campbell family!"

His words were confident, as if he already had everything in his grasp.

The secretary quickly smiled happily and said, "Thank you so much, Mr. Boster. You're truly amazing, even better than some people. Our chairman is indeed worthy of talented individuals like you!"

Boster smiled cheerfully at that, paying no attention to Alice, who was looking elsewhere.

On the other side, Ethan stood amidst the splendid scenery, wearing a simple outfit. 

Alice didn't even have time to wonder why the man she deemed useless was present at this grand dinner. 

She just wanted to approach him and explain to Ethan the reason for her misunderstanding.

But just as she was about to step forward, her gaze collided with another figure.

A beautiful woman stood next to Ethan.

She was truly stunning, her white dress making her appear even more coldly pure, like a beautiful flower on a snowy mountain, mesmerizing from afar but unreachable.
