Chapter 8: Ambushed

Upon waking up, Mr. Campbell was placed under a special care regimen to ensure a swift recovery.

Meanwhile, in Aboli's car, she insisted on taking Ethan home.

Despite his refusal, she was determined to do so, and Ethan didn't argue further.

Aboli looked at Ethan and then suddenly pulled out a bank card, saying earnestly, "Thank you for saving my grandfather; please accept this."

Ethan glanced at the bank card, his face devoid of any shock or joy.

He simply said, "I thought we had already agreed; I don't need money, just dragon's blood grass."

Aboli smiled faintly and nodded, "No, the dragon's blood grass is given to you on behalf of the Campbell family. This is from me, Aboli, as a token of gratitude. Please accept it."

Aboli's sincerity was strikingly different from Alice's previous haughtiness.

Ethan was about to say something when suddenly the car screeched to a halt, causing both Aboli and Ethan to lean forward instinctively.

The bank card in Aboli's hand fell to the floor of the car.

Frowning, she asked the driver in front, "What's going on?"

But the driver not only didn't answer her but also quickly opened the rear door and sped off.

It was then that Aboli realized they had taken an empty road.

She couldn't help but look at Ethan, "Is your house around here?"

Ethan shook his head, "No, I thought you had some other purpose for having the driver bring us here, but apparently not."

Aboli furrowed her brows even tighter, a sense of unease creeping into her mind.

Sure enough, shortly after, the sound of speeding engines and screeching brakes echoed repeatedly.

Two large pickup trucks stopped in front and behind Aboli's beautiful Maybach.

More than twenty thugs got out of the trucks, clearly indicating that the drivers had been bribed.

A scarred-faced thug swaggered up to Aboli's car window, sneering, "Miss Aboli, please step out of the car; my boss would like to invite you as a guest."

Even inside the car, Aboli could hear the words of the man outside.

She didn't show fear; instead, she lowered the car window slightly and said calmly, "This attitude doesn't sound much like an 'invitation.' Who is your boss?"

The ringleader chuckled slightly, "I can't reveal that to you, but as long as you come with me, you'll find out."

Without hesitation, Aboli retorted, "I'm not interested."

The ringleader's face quickly turned grim, "Then don't blame me for being rude!"

Saying this, he brandished a baseball bat, looking like he was about to smash the car!

At that moment, the door suddenly opened, and Ethan calmly stepped out of the car.

Aboli was astonished to see this scene, but she didn't make a move.

The thugs, seeing Ethan suddenly getting out of the car, couldn't help but burst into laughter.

"Ha ha ha, what's this, trying to be a hero to save the damsel? Can't you see the difference in numbers between the two sides a little? Do you want to die?"

Hearing this, Aboli furrowed her brows, preparing to reach for the gun in the car's secret compartment.

But just then, Ethan's voice resounded, "It's best for you to leave now before you regret it."

The lead thug sneered contemptuously, "You really don't know right from wrong. Let me see who will be the one to regret!"

Saying this, he suddenly charged forward, wielding the iron rod, attacking Ethan.

Ethan stood still, and the others didn't even realize how he acted.

They only saw the iron rod being stopped by his bare hands.

His foot kicked the leader's chest, sending him flying nearly ten meters away, his body colliding with a large tree, motionless and seemingly lifeless!

The surrounding thugs were wide-eyed, almost unable to believe what they were seeing.

Meanwhile, Aboli sat in the car, also astonished as she watched Ethan.

He not only had medical skills but also truly impressive combat skills.

He was almost perfect!

At this point, the group of thugs had reacted. Someone shouted, "Attack together, we can't lose either!"

As soon as he finished speaking, gunfire rang out.

A group of people aimed their guns at Ethan, as if they wanted to turn him into a sieve.

However, Ethan remained unfazed. He dodged at an unbelievable speed.

The iron rod in his hand swung up, even deflecting some of the bullets, causing several thugs to fall due to stray bullets!

Seeing this situation, the thugs couldn't help but have the urge to retreat.

But how could Ethan let them off so easily?

In no time, the once fierce gangsters were now lying on the ground, some dead, some injured to the point of being unable to move.

At this point, Aboli had also stepped out of the car.

She walked straight to the thug lying far behind and forcefully lifted him up. Her strength was truly astonishing.

She threw the ringleader aside and then stepped on his hand with her high-heeled shoe.

The thug winced in pain, regaining consciousness.

Seeing Ethan, he widened his eyes, fear evident in them, unable to utter a word.

Aboli looked at him and spoke in a low voice, "Now speak, who sent you?"

The ringleader pursed his lips.

Just then, Ethan approached him slightly.

The ringleader trembled, hastily saying, "I'll talk, I'll talk! The one who sent me is Mr. Benjamin, the mob boss in Gloria!"

Upon hearing this, Aboli's gaze turned cold.

She then suddenly kicked the ringleader in the face, sending him flying to the side, eyes rolling back unconscious.

Aboli acted swiftly, calling her security to handle everything at the scene.

After sorting everything out, she looked over at Ethan and suddenly said, "I feel like this incident and my grandfather's curse are definitely related. The Campbell family couldn't possibly encounter so many unfortunate events at once."

Ethan remained silent.

Aboli glanced at him again and then said, "I really appreciate what you did today. You truly helped me and the Campbell family a lot. You are truly skilled. What do you think about joining our family?"
