Chapter 7: The Curse?

Mr. Campbell, who moments ago seemed to be gasping for breath, suddenly sat up from the hospital bed!

This nearly left everyone stunned, except for Ethan, of course.

Doctors almost couldn't believe what they were witnessing.

A rare disease that they couldn't cure was now healed by an unknown guy; could there be anything more absurd and unbelievable than this?

Melly almost immediately rushed to Mr. Campbell's side, while Aboli glanced at Ethan, bowed respectfully, and said, "Thank you very much for saving my grandfather, Ethan. From now on, you will be a good friend of the Campbell family; we all are deeply grateful to you."

Ethan nodded and said, "Just doing what needs to be done, as long as you provide me with what we agreed upon."

Aboli immediately nodded in response, "Certainly."

The chief doctor standing aside frowned uncomfortably at the scene.

Compared to Ethan, he truly felt redundant.

He was skilled, but he was overly arrogant and unwilling to accept that others could be better.

However, nobody cared about him at the moment.

After a while of inquiring about his grandfather and shedding tears of worry, Melly looked at Ethan and asked, "What exactly happened to my grandfather? It was terrifying just now!"

Ethan looked at Mr. Campbell.

Despite being detoxified, his body still appeared weak, his face pale. Ethan spoke solemnly, "Did you happen to be in Midnight City before?"

Mr. Campbell looked surprised at Ethan, but thinking of Ethan as the one who saved him, he nodded sincerely, "Yes, I was there attending a friend's party."

Upon hearing this, Ethan nodded as if he understood, then decisively said, "You've been cursed."

Others were astonished to hear this.

The chief doctor widened his eyes and shouted, "Don't talk nonsense! There's no scientific basis for something called a curse! Mr. Campbell simply had a parasitic infection!"

At this moment, he still tried to assert himself as the most knowledgeable person present.

Ethan looked at him and said in a low voice, "Losers like you have no right to speak here."

The chief doctor pursed his lips, remaining silent.

Aboli looked at Ethan and nodded, saying, "Thank you for this information; I will certainly have someone investigate the party my grandfather attended in Midnight City."

Pausing for a moment, she looked back at the chief doctor, "That's right, you said you would eat your hat if Ethan could cure my grandfather's illness. Well, it's time for you to fulfill your promise."

The chief doctor seemed surprised that Aboli brought this up again, feeling uneasy and unable to say a word.

He truly feared Aboli might directly force him to eat those disgusting things.

Seeing the chief doctor in this state, Aboli sneered a little, and the chief doctor could only leave in embarrassment.

Meanwhile, in another ward of the same hospital, Alice's brother, Ciel, lay on the hospital bed, crying incessantly, "Mom, Mom must take control, Mom must make Ethan regret!"

Alice's mother, Mrs. Granda, sat beside her son, holding his hand, but said nothing.

Until now, she was still terrified by Ethan's gaze.

At this moment, a man's voice suddenly rang out, "Leave this to me; I will surely make that arrogant Ethan suffer!"

Both mother and son turned to the source of the sound.

Ciel exclaimed joyfully, "Is that so? Thank you so much; you are indeed a hundred times better than Ethan, Mr. Boster. If my sister had met you from the start, her life might have been happier now!"

Mrs. Granda nodded vigorously from the side.

Indeed, the person in this hospital room was Boster Smith, the one pursuing Alice.

Just then, there was a sudden knock on the door.

Then the door was pushed open, and Alice walked in with a cold expression; she never seemed happy whenever she met her brother and mother.

She looked at Ciel on the hospital bed and asked, "How are you feeling?"

Ciel immediately exclaimed, "I'm in excruciating pain, it felt like I was dying! Sister, you have to seek justice for me, you have to avenge me against Ethan!"

Alice frowned slightly at his words, "Don't blow things out of proportion, you should let go of seeking revenge. Look at what you've done; I won't help you."

After calming down, Alice realized some things.

Her brother wasn't exactly a good person.

Although hitting someone was wrong, her brother must have done something to provoke Ethan.

Truth be told, the love Alice had for her mother and brother was not as strong as the one she had for Ethan, despite their breakup.

It was evident that Alice didn't like her mother and brother to the extent of Ciel's acceptance.

He shouted, "No, you have to help me! I clearly did nothing wrong! I just smashed a fake gem like one bought at a flea market; that worthless gem wasn't even valuable! Yet Ethan dared to hit me!"

Alice almost immediately widened her eyes in disbelief, "What did you just say?" she asked coldly.

Ciel felt a bit intimidated by Alice's gaze, his whole body recoiled slightly.

Alice couldn't believe things had turned out like this; she angrily said, "That was his mother's heirloom! When will you all learn to live decently and honestly?"

At that moment, she truly wished Ethan had beaten her brother to death, a fool, useless, and arrogant!

Mrs. Granda quickly interjected, "That was just a cheap item, Alice, Ethan surely deceived our son."

Ciel nodded in agreement.

Clearly, they didn't see themselves at fault in this situation.

Boster chimed in from the side, "Exactly, resorting to violence over a cheap item is truly the mentality of the poor and wretched."

Alice didn't even spare them a glance; she quickly left, her steps determined and angry.

She started to feel a bit of regret for unjustly blaming Ethan like that.

Once his wife, she knew how important that item was to him.

He didn't even care about three million dollars; he just wanted that gem back...

The door slammed shut, startling everyone in the room.

Ciel and Mrs. Granda exchanged uneasy glances. Boster frowned, feeling somewhat uncomfortable being ignored by Alice like that.

His eyes darkened with a cold intensity, constantly plotting ways to possess Alice and her company for himself.
