Divorced

"Hi, Bill." Joana greeted Bill after not returning to the apartment for two days. She looked so tired, as if she had been working without resting for that period of time.

"Just home, Jo? Can I make you some coffee?" Bill asked.

"If it's not too much trouble for you." Joana said as she flopped onto the sofa.

Bill went straight to the kitchen and returned after a while with a cup of hot coffee in his hand.

"Where have you been for the past two days? I can't reach your contact number either. I'm getting worried and thinking the wrong thing." Bill asked in a worried tone as he placed the coffee he made in front of Joana.

"I have work to do." Joana replied.

"You didn't come home for two days?" Bill frowned slightly.

Joana nodded and reached for the coffee cup Bill had set down, taking a slow sip.
