An hour later, Linda sat on the edge of her bed, anxiously waiting. Her heart thudded in her chest as she stared at the clock, wondering if Romeo would actually show up.

The house was quiet—too quiet—and her mind wouldn’t stop racing. Then, finally, the doorbell rang.

Her breath caught in her throat. She hesitated for a second, but then forced herself to stand.

She made her way down the hallway, with each step slower than the last. When she reached the door, she paused, and her hand hovered over the handle. Taking a deep breath, she pulled it open.

There he was—Romeo Stewart, standing in front of her. He hadn’t changed much since the last time she saw him.

His tall, sturdy frame filled the doorway, and his dark eyes met hers. His cheek still bore that familiar scar, that was similar to that of Romeo Stormbreaker.

But something else struck her, something she hadn’t noticed before—Romeo’s body structure, the way he stood, even the height—was eerily similar to General Stormbreaker.
