Romeo sat beside Linda, who lay on the hospital bed, with a drip connected to her arm. Her eyes were red from crying, and her voice was weak.

"So my mother really killed our daughter?" she asked, her lips were trembling.

"Yes, love," Romeo answered softly. "She hated the fact that a broke man like me was living in her house, married to her most beautiful daughter."

Linda’s face twisted in pain. "She…she’s so cruel. How could she ensure that a newborn baby—her own grandchild—was brutally killed? My baby..." Her voice broke as tears streamed down her cheeks.

Romeo gently wrapped his arms around her, pulling her close. "It’s okay, love. Don’t worry about that now," he whispered, trying to soothe her. "It’s over. We’ll get through this."
