“Deliver the rest of the pizzas out back.”
Dorian nodded and walked past his new boss to get the cargo. Somehow, someone had spread the word of this pizza shop having the fastest delivery service and now everyone wanted a pizza that would be delivered in less than five minutes.
~You haven’t told me thank you.~
Dorian frowned at the voice in his head as he stared at the pile of pizza boxes he had to lug to the bike.
“Thank you for what?”
~For granting you this cool skill of course! You’d have had to pay a lot of money to get the skills you’re driving with today.~
While Dorian couldn’t deny the fact that the expert-level driving skill was awesome, something about having to deliver pizzas for hours on end didn’t appeal to him much.
He was happy he was good at his job. Luigi, his new boss, had even told him he was doing a good job and he was happy he could finally get a name and a small smile out of the man.
If this continued, then in a few more days, they could dominate the pizza delivery business because of the speed of his delivery alone.
That was good, very good. Yet somehow he didn’t feel too fulfilled.
Dorian’s phone rang and he fished it out from his pocket, picking up the call and hooking the phone between his shoulder and his ear.
“Dorian on the line.”
The reply he got was a derisive feminine scoff. Dorian’s hands halted in their reach for the pizza boxes and his eyebrows furrowed in suspicion.
The call was cut abruptly and Dorian reached for his phone to check if the number displayed a contact name.
His girlfriend’s name with the revolving hearts emoji stared him right back in the face and Dorian pressed the call button immediately.
The line rang but refused to connect.
“Shit.”
Amelia hated it when he wasn’t aware that she was the one calling him on his cell phone right away, and he had the habit of not checking the contact name of incoming calls when he was stressed.
~Trouble in paradise?~
The system sounded glum and Dorian flipped it a mental fuck you.
He ran his hands through his hair and cursed under his breath.
Amelia had seen him this morning, and the way he had acted might have made her worried. He also told her he worked at the pizza shop now but he didn’t explain how that happened. That he had been fired from his other job and he was now saddled with a crazy system that would have killed him if he didn’t get to work on time.
~Hey Dorian, you not getting to work on time was your fault, and listen carefully because this information might cost you your life and damn your world in the process~ Dorian felt that chill begin to settle in his bones again and the system’s warning seemed to hit extra hard as it spoke.
~No one must know of my existence, Dorian Flint. No one must suspect that I reside in you. If my existence becomes common knowledge, I will be forced to leave your body and you won’t be the only one that suffers.
The world is a wide place and your world is like a dot in the universe. Some beings can end this planet in the blink of an eye, so for your safety, no one must know of my existence.”
Dorian nodded despite his better judgment and took the pizza boxes outside.
He would deliver these now, and he would ask questions later.

Dorian rolled his eyes and got on the bike, the familiar feeling settling into his guts before he took off again.
His day brightened a notch because a new aspect had entered his delivery job.
TIPS!
Sweet sweet tips!
The baby blue-eyed blonde stretched the 200$ bill to him and Dorian accepted it with slight disbelief, because 200$, as a tip?
The blonde female chuckled at the expression on his face and smiled at him kindly.
“I have a shy friend in the house. She has a thing for hot bike riders and she said she saw you zoom past this morning. Sexiest thing she ever saw, according to her at least.”
Dorian felt some heat climb his cheeks but grinned confidently all the same.
“Her gesture is well received and much appreciated. Tell her I said thanks.”
“The hot delivery guy said thanks!”
The sound of excited squealing could be heard from within the house and Dorian chuckled as he turned to take his leave.
~You’d tell a girl who’s too shy to see you “Thanks” but you’d ignore your own system after receiving an expert-level skill?~
Dorian shrugged as he got on the bike and revved up the engine. An idea came to his mind when he saw the cream curtains of the customer’s house swaying lightly. Someone was definitely watching him covertly.
“She gave me a two hundred dollar tip.”
~I gave you an expert-level skill~
Dorian revved the engine and took a glance at the window. The female who tipped him so heavily was probably still in there and she was still looking at him, waiting for him to ride off.
But why not give her breakfast and a show?
~Hey system. Do you think I can perform a trick with my current skill set?”
The system gave a derisive snort.
~I gave you an expert-level driving skill set. You could make a car do a summersault if you wanted to.~
The image that produced in Dorian’s mind was a bit pulse-inducing, but that wasn’t what he wanted to do.
He wanted to perform a simple trick. The system’s five-foot screen revealed itself and golden letters displayed themselves one after the other. An option was displayed carefully.
[BASIC TRICK: WHEELIE.
Price: -10 points.BASIC TRICK: STOPPIE.
Price: -10 points]It went on and on for some more distance and Dorian revved up his engine once more. This was taking too long.
“I choose the wheelie.”
The option glowed briefly and Dorian felt something like fizzy flow into his veins. The world was suddenly very loud for a brief moment and he felt his eyes spark. The rest came as if on instinct.
He scooted back on the bike, shifted his gear into one that would allow him to pop the throttle, and he did it so at the last second when it really mattered, he leaned into the natural tilt of the bike and let the momentum carry him.
The front wheel went flying upwards and in one glorious moment, Dorian heard excited squealing from the windows as he zoomed off.
The system’s notification rang in his ears.
[WHEELIE PERFORMED SUCCESSFULLY. 10 POINTS DEDUCTED.]
Dorian threw his head back and laughed. Damn, this was fun!
Strangely the system didn’t interrupt him this time and Dorian rode on in peace for a while. He made his deliveries successfully, got some more tips along the way but not enough that he performed another trick. He wasn’t so stupid as to believe they didn’t come at a price. He’d have to earn more points first just to be on the safe side.
Just when the system’s silence was beginning to bother Dorian and he was done with his deliveries, something strange happened.
A mechanical voice rang out in his ears.“CALIBRATING CURRENT POTENTIAL.” Dorian frowned “REQUIREMENTS FULFILLED SUCCESSFULLY.”
Dorian felt a chill race down his spine as he took a shortcut down an alley. The System’s screen lit up.
[CONGRATULATIONS DORIAN FLINT. CIRCUMSTANTIAL MISSION DETECTED.
MISSION: RESCUE THE DAMSEL IN DISTRESS.
REWARDS: UNKNOWN.
PENALTY: - Dorian cringed- TEMPORARY LOSS OF MANHOOD FOR THE NEXT FIVE YEARS. MISSION STARTS NOW!]
A shrill scream rang out, cutting through the air.
“Leave me alone! Please!” The cries were very audible and deep wracking sobs followed next.Dorian watched as a young woman stumbled out of the alley, her eyes wide in panic and tears running down her cheeks in rivulets. The few people also towing the alleyway stopped to look at her. She was very pretty. With a dainty shape and wearing a black dress that outlined her slim waist and curved hips. Her ebony hair curled at the tips and her skin was nice, near flawless.Everyone was enamored by the crying damsel and some made moves to go to her but they froze the next minute like an electric current just ran down their spines. Under the clear sunlight of the afternoon, four huge men walked out of the curve of the alley. They had menacing looks on their faces and they appeared rough but what made everyone stop was the single slash on their left cheeks.Dorian cursed under his breath.“Blacktips.”The Blacktips were a well-known local gang this side of the city. They burglarized, robbed, m
“Do…… you usually…… drive like a maniac?”The Blacktips were just behind them and right now, Dorian was sure they were going well past the speed limit. So far it had been thirty minutes since the chase started. The speed his bike was putting out was admirable.“Hey, pizzacunt! Catch!”Dorian leaned to the left at the last moment and the projectile whizzed past his ear. A boomcan landed on the bare ground of the expressway and Dorian gritted his teeth in annoyance.Thankfully this time when the can exploded they were a good distance away from the explosion. The Blacktips had their little locally made explosive explode right behind them and Dorian’s mind sparked with an idea. The crackly voice of his passenger was almost lost in the wind whipping around them. “They’re going to throw more of those things.”Dorian nodded both to her and to himself. She certainly wasn’t from around here. She didn’t know what a boomcan was.~System, I need a good trick!~The mechanical voice was what repli
~HEY DORIAN!~Dorian jerked awake like someone hit his head in his dream.“I’m up! I’m up!”The system chortled and Dorian’s still muddled brain tried to grasp what was happening right now.His eyes darted to the clock in the corner and he groaned.~Did you have to wake me up at the crack of dawn with such a loud shout?”It was like a foghorn had screamed his name in his head. Urghh.~Get up lazy pants. You have to get to work.~Dorian scowled and resisted the urge to groan.“Right, work.”His body felt like his spine would give out. His butt ached for some reason and his shoulders and back muscles throbbed. Maybe he had to go see a doctor.A ding rang out in his head and Dorian tried to open his half-lidded eyes to see the glass screen hovering a few feet above him. It was tilted so it could face him properly without him having to strain his neck.[HEALTH: 80%/100%]Dorian took a deep breath and watched as the meter climbed to 81%. In essence, he was being told he was okay and he di
"D.... Dorian?"Dorian nodded and stared at his girlfriend. He didn't know what to say. What was he supposed to do in a situation like this?"Is this the guy you've been telling me about?"The smug voice of the male in the room rang into Dorian's ears and he clenched his fists. They'd been talking about him.Amelia of all people, a woman who he would trust with his life if it came down to it."I asked you a question Amy." The male's voice was much nearer now and Dorian watched as the guy slung an arm over his girlfriend's shoulder. He was holding her in the casual manner Amelia would never have allowed him, her boyfriend to hold her in and he was grinning. He already knew what was happening here."Answer me Amelia. Or are you going to suddenly develop some virtue right here and now?"The decision was clear in Amelia's eyes because she nodded briskly." Yeah. He's the one I was telling you of. My boyfriend, Dorian Flint."Dorian felt something sour enter his mouth at her words. So he wa
Dorian smashed his fist into the side of Horace's face. The punch was so well delivered that teeth and spittle flew out of Horace's mouth as he went straight to the floor and Amelia screamed before rushing to him."Are you crazy Dorian!"She cradled the side of Horace's face, her eyes filled with worry and her hands touching and prodding the sides of his face.Horace was silent, his eyes still blinking in disbelief and Dorian found himself heaving slightly.Hell, that felt good.Amelia set her sights on him and there was scorching hatred in her eyes."What do you think you're doing Dorian! Do you know who Horace is? Do you know who his father is!"She was breathing heavily as she spoke and Dorian felt his heart go cold. What did he ever see in her? Maybe he was truly blind as Horace had said, because he should have noticed some things."Did you just hit me, you cunt?"Dorian stepped forward, crouched on his heels, and stared the spoiled young master right in the eyes."Customers must
Luigi was not happy when Dorian came back and the words were uttered immediately he stepped foot into the pizza shop."You're fired."The policemen came for him after that. They were already lurking in the background and the moment Luigi fired him, the system rang in Dorian's mind too.A bad feeling crept up the side of Dorian's spine and he waited for the system to tell him his time was up. He'd die now and it would all be because he lost his girlfriend to a richer guy and lost his temper too. Now he would die because he lost his job. The system did nothing like that. It was dead silent as he was roughly shoved and manhandled into a car by goons. It was silent when he was driven not to the police station but to an abandoned building and beaten almost half to death.Dorian didn't shed any tears as he endured the beating and brutalizations. The thugs in suits left him for dead on the floor of the building and Dorian drew in a deep breath. The dust from the hard rough floor went straig
The bath he had when he got home didn't do anything to cool the boiling in Dorian's blood. The cheap dinner of ramen and boiled eggs he had didn't help either. After two hours spent doing his workout routine, Dorian took another shower, dressed himself up and stepped out of his apartment with a baseball cap on his head. His messy dark curls peeked out from under the cap but as long as it stayed on his head, he didn't care about that. The system's voice rang in Dorian's mind again and it didn't sound concerned even though the questions it was asking sounded that way.~Don't you think you're being hasty about this, Host? You should be catching some rest. You were beaten up very badly a few hours ago y'know. ~Dorian nodded and descended the stairs of the one storey building that was his place of residence."I know. But that doesn't mean I have to let it affect me. I'm okay now. I'm ready to look for another job."~It's nighttime, Dorian.~Dorian chortled and stuck his hands into his po
~You’re not considering this, are you?~Dorian stared at the rickety old cab and found himself fixated by the color and the paint on it. It wasn’t good at all.The paint was peeling off. Like actually peeling off the same way a damp wall would bloat up and then the paint would slowly begin to fall. That was the same thing happening to this car. The morning air seemed to lend Dorian a clear mind and the warm sun on his neck made him optimistic.“How much do you wanna sell it for?”The older man standing beside him scoffed “Sell it? who said I was going to sell it?’Dorian stared at the half-busted car and grimaced. “What are you planning to do with it then? Not sell it? Is this thing safe to go on the road?”“Do you want the job or not, kid?”There was some bite to the man’s voice now and Dorian could tell he was getting annoyed, but did he really have a reason to be annoyed? This car looked like something that would fall apart in a moment and for him to take it on the road as a cab….
