Rebecca realized that Alice was now scared of her so she brought the smile back on her face "Sorry for acting that way."

"It is fine." Alice said, trying to hide her fear. "So what made the forest this way? What happened here? Why is the forest so scary? People do not even come in here anymore because it has become forbidden to be here."

Alice said this time with caution as she looked at Rebecca's face to see if Rebecca would react the way she did earlier, but she just answered her plainly.

"Hmmm like I said earlier, the forest was peaceful and it made a lot of people's wishes come true. All of their desires were fulfilled. Not until the war between Halon and Zeyan. a lot of blood was spilled, changing the entire existence of this place and at the same time making the forest blood thirsty. Collecting humans as an exchange of what it gives."

"How? why? So what am I going to make as an exchange then if it requires humans for an exchange? I have no one to give."

"Clam down Alice, your case would not be the same, trust me."

"How sure are you Rebecca?."

"Alice, I told you to trust me, right? so just do that and quit all the questions, like I say focus on why we are here do not let anything stop you from getting what you want today.

"Okay Rebecca I trust you."

"Don't worry we are almost close to our destination."

"Where are we actually going to? because this looks like a destination to nowhere."

"Hahaha do not let what you see deceive you, this forest holds a lot of good things you know?"

"A lot of things? How can a dark and mysterious forest like this hold a lot of good things? When it is dark and scary."

"Do not worry, soon you will understand what I am saying, for now let us just keep moving forward. You will be so amazed when we get there."

"Hmm if you say so."

" Hahaha Yes I said so." Rebecca replied, still walking and smiling.

But Alice just could not get her attention because of what Rebecca had told her earlier about the human exchange. Was she giving herself as an exchange Or what? Alice was friends with Rebecca but now she is doubting that friendship and also doubting Rebecca as well because she is hiding a lot.

"Alice I have another story to tell of why people stop coming here to make exchanges."

"Okay Rebecca go ahead."

"Well you see a man came here looking for a long life and the power to become the king of Halon but something happened because he came here out of greed." Rebecca turned and looked at Alice. "Do you believe that demons exist?"

"Demon's? No I do not. I think it is just a name people use to add up stories to scare little kids at night."

"Really so you do not believe it exists. So how do those people come up with such a name?" Rebecca asked as they kept walking.

"Well I do not know, maybe they read it somewhere, I do not really know, okay."

"Alright then. So this man invited a demon into his home killing his entire family and leaving him with nothing."

"I do not believe that, okay? It is just a story. How can that happen because he was greedy and made an exchange for long life and power."

"So you do not believe the tale? okay then."

"Alright fine what happened to those who came to the forest not for any greedy intentions."

"The forest is not the same anymore, so you should know what happened to people like that."

"Rebecca, who are you?"

Rebecca turned to look at Alice who had just asked her a question she has never cared to ask since they became close friends.

"And why do you ask now?."

"Because I want to know who you are, how do you know so much about this forest?"

"That is because it is a tale everyone knows about Alice." She lied. "And who am I? Well, I am just a simple woman who got married to a handsome and loving man but he died during the war in our kingdom and now I have to live my life as a widow because I can not bring myself to love any other man." She said, trying to find sympathy from Alice.

Alice felt really sorry for her and she also felt bad for making her remember her painful past.

"I am so sorry Rebecca, I did nott know you went through all this. If I had known I would not have brought up the discussion." She said feeling sorry for Rebecca.

"It is fine. it is not your fault you have trusted me enough to tell me your secret and I must also trust you with mine that is what friends do, right?" She asked giving a devilish smirk to Alice but Alice could not see the reaction on Rebecca's face since she was occupied with her thoughts.

"Yes that is right. And I am always here for you Rebecca."

"It is fine I must say I am glad to be your friend and to help you out in getting pregnant, if that is what I can do to show appreciation for accepting me in your life."

"Am happy to have you as a friend, Rebecca."

They both laughed and kept walking.

"I know you are worried and scared of what might happen when we get there, do not worry I am right beside you, okay? You will be fine. I assure you."

"Thank you so much Rebecca."

Rebecca smiled. "Do not worry we are very close to the hut."

"Oh okay. But who builds a hut in the middle of a forest?"

"You should not be asking questions like that Alice."

"Oh sorry, just wondering, that is all."

"I know. Look there, do you see that?" Rebecca said, pointing towards an old hut in the distance."

Alice moved her eyes towards the direction Rebecca was pointing to. "Yes I do."

"We are very close now, let us keep walking."

The forest became silent as Alice and Rebecca stopped talking as they made their way to the hut. But soon Rebecca brought up a question.
