In an instant, Eliot felt himself become marginally bigger.

The process of leveling up was a phenomenon that he still couldn’t wrap his head around. ‘Is it a biological process?’

‘Is it a magical process?’

‘Damn! Everything in this world truly feels so novel and new’.

‘I wonder when I’ll be able to learn it all’.

Eliot finally paid attention to the prey.

Despite being dead already, the giant Barracuda fish still had a look of shock and regret in his eyes even as they stayed lifeless.

This Barracuda probably knew he was going to die someday but he never guessed even in his wildest dreams that it was a group of Salmon fish that would cause his death, f*cking Salmons!

Looking at the giant dead body before them, the realization of the achievement that they just made finally settled in Eliot’s head.

“…”

“…”

“…..!”

All the other fish of the scouting and attack department were frozen in shock as they just stared at their kill, completely petrified and flabbergasted.

Ex chief accompanied them for this hunt and was also flabbergasted.

Killing a Barracuda, and not a normal one but one of this size? Ex chief had only ever seen this during the prime days of the great Chief.

This Salmon fish’s eyes widened.

“All…fish…must…die…someday!” He stressed these words today to emphasize how shocked he was.

“Bonkers!” Commander Bonkers exclaimed.

Commander Bomber’s eyes were widened in shock, he almost couldn’t believe what they just did, and the most shocking part was they suffered no casualties!

This was unprecedented.

“Sensational!” This commander exclaimed.

“Chief Eliot…!” The other fish finally reacted as they chanted his name.

“Chief Eliot…!”

“Chief Eliot…!”

Eliot was smug but he didn’t take all the glory, he went up to the commander of his attack department as he hit this Salmon with his tail fin.

“You saved my life out there brother, I owe you one”.

“It is my sensational duty”. Commander Bomber replied seriously.

After the initial excitement died down, Eliot faced the scouting department. “I just came up with a new role for the scouting department”.

“We need to stockpile on food in our lair for rainy days”.

“Bonkers! What’s a rainy day?”

Eliot stared at him exasperatedly. “I mean like hard days, problematic days”.

“The 2nd role of the scouting department will be to transport food that we’ve hunted like this back to our labyrinth lair”.

“Commander, you’ll make the decision to choose 2 brothers who will be responsible for this, the others will scout the way to our next prey”.

Eliot was not satisfied with just this kill yet, he wanted to test them more.

“As for how the others will meet up with us after stocking our hunt in the lair, we’ll leave cuts across plants as we move, this shall be our unique tracking hint”.

All the fish of the scouting unit nodded seriously.

Of the 6 fish under him, Commander Bonkers soon choose 2 physically capable fish as they bit on the giant Barracuda before dragging the food away.

This moment was like history to this fish school.

It showed them what they were capable of under chief Eliot.

Eliot looked at them. “Get ready boys, we’ll take a rest of 2 minutes to recover before continuing our hunt till we get tired”.

“Yes, chief!” They replied enthusiastically.

40 minutes later after the Giant Barracuda kill, led by chief Eliot, the hunting unit already killed a few other smaller fish but now, they met another predator.

One of the more observant fish in the scouting department noticed it first.

Then Eliot’s support system confirmed it.

[WARNING! A powerful predator has been discovered!]

[You have encountered a Diving Bell Spider!]

[Support system tip: Escape!]

In his previous life, Eliot never heard of this weird spider.

Somehow, this spider created a means for itself to stay entirely underwater without dying. Like other arachnids, it must breathe air but it provided its own oxygen supply by forming a bubble which it holds by hairs on its legs and abdomen.

Seeing this spider as mysterious, Eliot held his unit back as they observed for minutes how this mysterious spider worked.

Eliot didn’t want to lose any brother due to reckless hunting.

Like he believed, knowledge is power.

20 minutes was enough time to finish studying it.

This predator’s mode of attack?

He could release more of the bubble that gave him oxygen, encasing the body of his prey with it and suffocating them since they could not breath dry oxygen.

As for prey strong enough to break out of the bubble, this spider no longer stayed proactive as he became aggressive, charging into the bubble where he used his terrifying teeth to inflict a painful bite with symptoms.

Instantly after inflicting the first bite, his prey always become weakened.

Then the rest is simple to this predator, he simply feasts on his prey.

“We can kill it”. Eliot concluded.

“This time, we’ll be using the kiting strategy”.

“Kiting strategy!” Commander Bombers roared.

Hearing the roar of the Salmon fish, this spider became alert but it was already too late. He saw about 8 Salmon fish surround him the next moment as while making the decision on the one to suffocate, one of them charged forward.

Plop!

The spider showed amazing reaction speed as turning his body rapidly in the water, he created a bubble and shot it at the accelerating fish.

But as soon as he shot it, this fish stopped and rapidly retreated.

While it retreated, another fish from the rear accelerated forward and before the spider could react…

CRUNCH!

The aggressive Salmon got his bite in as he cheered before rapidly retreating.

While the in-pain and now angry spider turned to face this Salmon, another charged from his now exposed rear, they didn’t give him the chance to focus on one of them.

The kiting strategy recognized a predator’s long-ranged and short-ranged offensive prowess.

So, like the containment strategy, they surround it but instead of randomly attacking, they focus more on kiting and wearing the predator’s energy out.

Under Eliot’s leadership, these pesky Salmon fish kept this up for 10 minutes until the spider was completely weakened, he tried to escape but it was too late.

Another fish in the attack department landed the killing blow.

They secured their 2nd big kill of the day.

For the rest of the day, Eliot led them hunting and none of them died. With the scouting unit helping them to avoid troublesome prey, Eliot led them to victory after victory, an unprecedented streak in the history of this fish school.

As the day became dark, they returned to their lair.

There, Eliot called ex chief again. “We passed the test”.

“Now, it’s time to aim big”.

“Tell me about the rival fish schools of the Thunder Reef”.
