Chapter 18: Plans for a raid

“Ok, ok, this is how we’ll do it”. Eliot faced his assistant.

“We have to trim the options down so we’ll use this strategy”.

“Which of them do you hate the most?”

“We’ll use that to narrow them down first”.

Eliot barely finished when ex chief roared. “Definitely those f*ckers!”

Eliot stared at him. “Who?”

“Those f*ckers!”

‘Damn, I swear I’ll kill this mother*cker one day’. Eliot thought in exasperation as he glared at ex chief.

“Who?!”

“Ahh…, sorry, it’s those Mata Mata”.

“Gosh, they’re so arrogant”.

“They kill with style, so arrogant and foolish!”

Ex chief stared at Eliot again. “Not only them, the Vampire fish crew too but unlike the Mata Mata, I truly fear them”.

“Even during the days of Chief, their raids left us with huge casualties”.

“I don’t want us to fight them”.

“The Stingray clan too, I hate them”.

“And the Tiger Fish clan too, those f*ckers!”

“And I think…”

“Wait!” Eliot stopped him. “I think that’s enough”.

“Let’s narrow it down further, tell me about the last time you saw these 4, their force combination and how dangerous they are”.

Ex chief instantly entered storytelling mode again as he narrated his encounters with every single one of these 4 enemies of his.

By the time he was done after minutes, a tired Eliot already came to his conclusion. “I think our options should be between the Stingray clan and the Tiger fish clan, I feel that’s what is more on our level”.

“Go sleep, tomorrow we’ll start the planning properly”.

“Yes chief”.

“Thank you for this initiative to get back at our enemies, I really like it, besides all fish must die someday”. Ex chief finally left.

As soon as he was alone again, Eliot thought about different things till sleep finally came to claim away his consciousness.

The next day, Eliot woke up to a bustling fish school.

All the Salmon fish were in a better and more driven mode since he became the chief, they were no longer living their life on a recklessly aimless manner.

That morning, he gathered the scouting department of the school.

“I have a new job for you”.

“For the next few days, I want you to locate the Tiger fish clan and the Stingray clan to spy on them”.

“Remember the basics, never expose yourself”.

“The role of a scout is to spy for information without being seen”.

“I need detailed information about them”.

“Yes, chief!”

Led by Commander Bonkers, the scouting department went on the job.

While they did this, led by Commander Bomber with chief and ex chief accompanying, the attack department went on more fruitful hunts.

Since only the strongest fish in the school made up the attack department, there were no more reckless deaths like during ex chief’s reign.

Today was another highly successful day on the hunting front.

[You have killed a Blue Devil Damselfish!]

[You have received XP!]

[You have devoured a Blue Devil Damselfish!]

[You have received XP!]

With the attack department hunting and devouring prey diligently, with the spare food being taken to the lair for those in the defense and scouting department to devour, the fish school grew on a daily basis.

More fish leveled up as they worked together like a unit under chief’s leadership.

While all this happened, the scouting department also did their job.

They spied on the Tiger Fish and Stingray clans.

Like this, 3 days passed as another fish in the attack department finally became level 5, increasing the tally of level 5 fish in the school to 3.

On the 4th day of this streak, they met another powerful predator.

[WARNING! A powerful predator has been discovered!]

[You have encountered a Snakehead!]

[Support system tip: Escape!]

It was 2 long Snakehead fish casually moving through the water like a couple on a honeymoon.

Their gentle appearance and honeymoon setting did not fool Eliot though, he knew of this infamous fish and how terrifying they could be.

In Utopia, he expected them to be even more terrifying.

With Commander Bomber taking the lead, charging into battle after ordering one of their practiced combat strategies, they overwhelmed both Snakehead fish.

They fought back bravely though, severely injuring 3 fish in the attack department before they were finally taken down.

In the end, Eliot was able to land the killing blow to one of the 2 Snakehead fish as it pushed his XP past the threshold, pushing him to level up to level 4.

Due to the injured, this hunt ended their non-stop hunting streak.

Eliot ordered everyone to return to the lair so the 3 injured warrior fish could recover, and in the labyrinth lair was where he received the good news from a returning Commander Bonkers.

“Bonkers! Chief, we’ve accomplished the mission”.

“We’re done with the spy job”.

Eliot still felt a bit weirded out talking to intelligent fish but he slowly learned to get over it. Hearing Bonkers, he grinned. “Throw it at me”.

“My advice is to leave the Stingray clan”.

“Led by their chief, like us, they have a lair to hide in time of trouble but it is their overall strength that’s the deterrent”.

“We counted 19 stingrays in the clan”.

“Not only are they all bigger and stronger than us, their clan chief, we discovered recently that he just evolved”.

“…!” Eliot’s eyes widened.

“He became a Manta ray and is currently in hiding to get accustomed to his new powers before leading his clan to greater heights”.

‘Damn, the importance of scouts can’t be overstated!’ Eliot felt like he just dodged a bullet, attacking those guys was literally a death row sentence.

“What of the Tiger fish clan?”

“Bonkers! Like the Stingray, they also have a lair of their own”.

“They have approximately 100 fish in their clan but with chief, I believe we can win over them”.

Eliot became interested on hearing this fish’s confidence.

Listening to more points that they learned from their intelligent scouting, Eliot finally gained some form of confidence.

Despite his confidence, he could tell that it was an uphill task.

Compared to their school, the Tiger Fish were just so much more than them but he accepted the challenge.

‘This is the only way to accelerate the growth of the school’.

For the next few hours, hiding himself inside his hole, Eliot thought long and hard using the information that his scouts gave him to come up with a strategy.

He didn’t even need to be a master strategist to come up with one.

Afterall, he was dealing with fishes.

He was literally the smartest one here.

With his plan finalized, he gave all 3 departments of his fish school instructions as for the next 3 days, they worked on completing them.

3 days later, the preparations for the raid were ready.

Eliot gave the school a day of rest to recover and be at their best state for the raid, everything else moved according to plan.

The next morning, the D-day finally came.

It was time for the raid.
