Chapter 2: First Kill; a miracle!

The lines of words that he just saw floated through his head again.

‘A system?’

‘What the heck is a system?’

‘It said a support system…, like in a support system for old people?’

‘Damn, what in the name of all f*cking midgets is really going on?!’

‘This is a dream’. He concluded.

‘This must be a dream’.

‘This can’t f*cking be real, right?’

He suggested it, he wanted to belief it but the sense of urgency currently in his mind told him otherwise.

Eliot froze, he was going crazy.

‘Ok…, ok, I have no choice but to accept my circumstances, including the system no matter what the hell it is and where it came from’.

‘First things first, though it sounds unbelievable, it says I’ve been reincarnated as a virus…,’ He paused in his mind. ‘A f*cking virus!’

‘Who does that?!’

The urgency pushed all the grogginess from his brain to think faster.

‘It says something about Utopia…’

‘Is this utopia, like the literal meaning?’

‘Hell no!’ He rejected the thought immediately. ‘This is definitely no utopia! It won’t be so f*cking bloody and ominous!’

‘It says I inherited a bloodline, one or wine, whatever it was’.

‘What does that mean?’

‘Wait…,’ he paused. ‘Is this like those wuxia shit that I read that one time that the main character reincarnated as a shark?!’ He shuddered at the mere thought of it.

‘I’ve never been a devout Christian but man, God I need your help’.

‘I cover myself with the blood of Jesus!’ He scrambled in his mind for safety.

‘And by the mother*cking midget way…,’ He paused again. ‘It says I’m f*cking currently inside the belly of a Salmon Fish!’

The bloody background and thick flesh proved it.

The mere thought of this sent goosebumps creeping through Eliot’s existence at this moment. If he still had a pp, he would have burst his f*cking bladders out already due to the sheer shock and fear induced by this moment.

He had so many thoughts and questions in his mind at this moment.

Despite his many thoughts though, they did nothing to stop reality.

BOOM!

Eliot was rudely jolted awake out of his errant thoughts.

He was scared shitless by what was currently going on.

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

His tiny mushroom form shuddered. ‘A-are these the anti-viral enzymes?!’

Currently, he was a tiny mushroom stuck inside an ocean of red blood and flesh and at this moment, this ocean of blood and flesh rose up in arms against him.

Loud booming sounds reverberated like the growling of a stomach when a hunger pang struck as a wall of blood and flesh rose up against him.

Seeing this, memories flashed through Eliot’s mind.

Memories of when he just started as a mere worker in a pharmaceutical company a year after he got his college leaving certificate.

‘Hey, good morning Eliot’.

‘I’m having a sore throat again, do you have those anti-bacterial drugs? I also want some anti-viral drugs to combat my reoccurring stomach upset’.

‘Yeah, we have, I’ll get them in a minute’.

At this moment, Eliot felt bad. ‘Those poor viruses’.

‘Now, I’m in their shoes’.

‘I’m in their f*cking shoes!’

The wall of blood and flesh finally got to him, it hit him.

BAM!

Instantly, Eliot felt like he was hit by the force of a mountain.

If he had vocal cords, he would have groaned in pain.

[WARNING! You have been attacked by anti-viral enzymes!]

[You have unlocked a new attribute: Health Points!]

[Health Points: 4.5/6]

Eliot’s eyes widened like saucers on seeing this as all the pain left his senses, instantly being replaced by the discipline instilled on him by Professor Gagam.

He rapidly made calculations and arrived at his result.

‘Damn, that’s 1.5 damage for each attack’.

‘I can only take 3 more attacks before I die’.

Instantly, the reality of this moment transcended normal circumstances.

This was no longer a bluff or some joke, at this moment, Eliot’s life was truly in danger and he just came to this realization.

Most people would panic at this situation or be petrified by fear.

Eliot felt none of those feelings at this critical moment though.

This moment only reminded him of the impromptu exams and tests that Professor Gagam put him through. The tension and stress, everything felt so similar and like in those moments, like already instilled in him, his innate discipline kicked in.

Eliot filtered all the panic and tension away; his brain gained an unnatural clarity at this moment that enabled his brain to function at peak efficiency.

He recalled the lines of words displayed by the system again.

‘I received a mission to survive this attack and a bonus mission to kill the Salmon Fish, but how?’ His brain juices continued flowing smoothly.

‘It says I have a skill…, virus replication’.

‘That’s it!’ His brain became excited.

‘Virus replication…, so how do I use it?’

[You have been attacked by anti-viral enzymes!]

[Health Points: 3/6]

He received another attack, the urgency increased but he remained calm.

Eliot tried to focus and he willed it, then a miracle happened.

Bzzz!

Eliot replicated!

From a single virus, he became 2 tiny microscopic mushroom-shaped viruses.

Eliot grinned which as a virus looked hideous as f*ck. ‘That’s it!’

Eliot no longer did anything else; he just focused and willed it.

Bzzz!

Bzzz!

Bzzz!

There was no stop to it, he kept on replicating.

As he did, he remembered some lessons from Professor Gagam that made his eyes widen in realization. ‘This is it, the traits of evolution’.

‘These are the traits that allows a virus to survive in this hostile environment’.

‘For this Salmon to survive this virus attack, he can no longer rely on its own immune system and would have to rely on external immunization’.

‘I hope this is not a domesticated Salmon…’

‘I hope it won’t receive immunization…’

‘I don’t want to die…’

It was a long time, Eliot didn’t know how long having lost sense of time but the Salmon finally started dying from within, the virus was overpowering it.

Eliot felt ecstasy and a feeling of having escaped death.

But he didn’t stop at that, his incredible trained discipline to stay calm under pressure also enabled him to remember something else at this moment.

‘Infinite Evolution!’

‘The system said that is my innate bloodline ability’.

‘You have the ability to evolve infinitely. The only requirement is to kill target and get an at least 80% understanding of the body of said organism’.

Having experimented with replication already, he was more experienced now and all he did was to will it in his mind and another miracle happened.

This time, it was a true miracle!

Having taken over the body of this Salmon Fish already, the parts that he already killed as a virus, details of these parts instantly started surging into his mind like it was some sort of an out-of-this-world sorcery.

Knowledge started surging into Eliot’s mind like mad.

Detailed information about the Salmon Fish.

The more he killed, the more he learned and understood the body of this Salmon Fish, this was an unprecedented mode of learning.

Not even Professor Gagam’s lectures could eclipse this.

Eliot was flabbergasted. ‘A miracle!’

‘It’s a f*cking miracle!’

And finally…, the poor fish gave in.

The Salmon Fish gave up the ghost.

[You have killed a Salmon!]

[Congratulations! You have achieved your first kill!]

[Kickstarting evolution process…, please wait!]

[Process kickstarted…]
