Chapter 6 - Gamer

Diana and Barry looked at each other and suddenly began to laugh, they were like two people watching a comedy unfold before their eyes.

"What does this loser think of himself? Do you think you're a king or something? The kind of suite you just asked for is only reserved for the VIP members. If you're trying to make money from comedy, go do it on the streets you sick idiot!" Barry said as he finished laughing.

The receptionist could no longer hold on to courtesy, she rolled her eyes and said, "Hey, you brought it upon yourself. Do you think you can just run your mouth to our members and go scot free? I'll call security to..."

While she was talking, three men in distinguished business suits walked over, they had an air of importance around them that would make one subconsciously step out of their way if one saw them passing by.

The man in the front had a natural frown on his face as he came to the front of desk, the receptionist quickly composed herself and bowed.

"Mr Sutton, what brings you down here yourself?"

The man called Mr Sutton glanced around the people surrounding him before he said to the receptionist. "You're fired, get lost. Ainsley, replace her."

The woman who had followed Mr Sutton down was also dressed in a receptionist uniform, she quickly slid behind the receptionist desk and stood there professionally.

"But...I don't understand Mr Sutton, what did I do to deserve getting fired?" Tears immediately filled her eyes.

"We only hire competent people who care about the progress of our business, not irresponsible staff who will sabotage our work."

"But I didn't do anything to sabotage..."

"Magneticum was finally about to get our newest VIP member. In this city, how many people can afford that? If I wasn't personally notified by that customer, I would never have been aware of the fact that we have a useless staff working at our reception. I'm giving you two minutes to get lost otherwise I'll call security to throw you out."

The receptionist didn't even know what she had done or who she had offended, she had suddenly lost her job overnight, it was very painful because it would take a long time to find another job.

Barry didn't know why this had suddenly happened, he didn't care about the receptionist who'd suddenly gotten fired, instead he was honored at the fact that the legendary Fred Sutton was standing in front of him.

He began to speak fawningly, "Mr Sutton, it's such an honor to meet you in person. My name is..." Barry hadn't even finished speaking yet when Mr Sutton turned his displeased face away and faced Jake instead.

He looked at him from head to toe, a flash of surprise in his eyes.

Was this the man he'd spoken to a while ago?

Indeed, the rich liked to stay low profile. He would never expect that this person in front of him was actually the new tycoon who just texted him for a VIP membership. He couldn't understand how the man had gotten his contact, maybe he received it from another high profile person in this city. That was why he was certain this person's identity wasn't simple at all.

"Are you Mr Jacob Watson?" Mr Sutton ignored Barry and asked Jake instead.

It was a painful slap to Barry's highly arrogant face but he cleared his throat and retrieved his hand which he'd extended to Mr Sutton for a handshake.

"Yes I am." Jake replied. Mr Sutton was being very polite to him, he never expected the side cheat awarded to him by the app to be this useful, he'd been able to text the biggest share holder of Magneticum in an instant.

A rare smile showed on Mr Sutton's face as he said in a softer voice.

"Please come with me."

He'd started walking away when Barry suddenly called.

"Mr Sutton, please wait. My fiance and I asked for a suite for..."

"Ainsley." Mr Sutton called the new receptionist cutting Barry off again.

"Yes sir?"

"Have this man escorted out of this building and cancel his membership from Magneticum." After saying this, Mr Sutton walked away with his guards and Jake in tow.

Jake turned and when his face met with Barry's incredulous ones, his lips curled and he looked away.

Barry couldn't believe it. No one could refute Mr Sutton, but why had he suddenly kicked him out and cancelled his membership?

A weird, unbelievable thought suddenly crept into his mind.

"Honey...do you think...do you think your useless ex husband could possibly be the new VIP member Mr Sutton just spoke about?"

Diana frowned contemplatively.

Something felt different about Jake, she couldn't say what but the way he talked and carried himself seemed different now. But she suddenly remembered how he could barely afford to buy shoes for himself in the past and shook of the thought then laughed at it.

"That's absolutely impossible! If Jake can become a VIP member, I'll roll over in a pile of shit. He's not just dead poor but he even lost his job, I bet he can't even afford breakfast. Maybe he came here to apply for a job that's why Mr Sutton took him away."

Hearing what Diana said made Barry also shake off the thought. He'd been to their shabby apartment several times and it was totally impossible for someone who lived in such a dump to be able to even afford breathing in the VIP membership of Magneticum.

He suddenly laughed, "He's probably applied for the job of a cleaner here. At least he'll get tips from the wealthy members, that should be some sort of upgrade for him right?" Diana laughed along with him and they no longer bothered about getting kicked out of Magneticum.

"Let's go honey, we'll just visit some five star hotel."

Though no five star hotel in Eastside could compare to Magneticum, Barry was sure this move of losing his membership in Magneticum was made by one of his business rivals so he didn't think much of it.

Jake entered a place one could only describe as out of this world luxurious.

This suite was located at one of the top floors making the views from the floor to ceiling windows immaculate. A terrace with a sprawling crystal looking pool sat outside the pulling glass doors, and a second pool was situated indoors in a recreational spot.

The suite was like a villa of it's own, different from anything one would have ever seen in a hotel before.

Jake smiled in satisfaction, this was the kind of luxury he would like to experience with the opportunity to spend five million in an hour.

Jake instructed the staff of chefs at the kitchen to make him their best meals and he settled inside the gaming room.

The equipment was like a dream boasting of the highest grade X225 monitor with an 85inch curved screen.

Back when he used to work at oak house, Jake would frequently be seen tapping away on his phone playing the global online game Realms, but unlike other gamers, he'd had no way of spending real life money to purchase upgrades, so he never ascended from the lowest level of the game.

Jake still had about half an hour to splurge what was left of the five million, since he'd indulged in luxury he might as well upgrade his spot in the game.

He logged into his old account and found himself landing into a battle between guilds. No one would accept him in a guild before anyway because he didn't have any equipment, so he focused on completing small missions by himself.

The server of Realms was filled with people spending lavishly to buy gaming upgrade.

A certain gamer called Dare-devil was currently the highest on the rankings of players who'd bought the craziest things on game.

However all of a sudden, some unknown low level player suddenly began to climb up the ranks.

These were all high grade items that cost over tens of thousands of in-game coins which would amount to about two to three thousand dollars of real money.

Everyone was caught of guard and stunned.

People spent money in game, but not everyone would spend that much at once and the rankings didn't stop, he continued to buy skills and in game properties like a monster devouring the entire server.
