The figure standing before him didn't look like the graceful figure he knew five years ago before he was sent to prison. Rather, the figure before him looked wretched and ragged that he tended not to recognize her if not for the fact that her face was deeply etched in his mind and he could never forget her.
"Brother, you're finally back, I've missed you so much." Alexis's voice brought back Eric to his senses as he felt her body on his, hugging him tightly.
At this time, Eric's heart was racing as he couldn't understand what was happening. The state his little sister was in showed that something was wrong but he couldn't put his hands on it.
"Alexis, tell me, where's Father, Henry, Charlotte, and Amelia." Eric sighed as he disengaged from the hug looking into his sister's eyes.
Immediately Alexis heated those names she shuddered and immediately, tears flowed down her face shocking Eric who was observing his sister. It seemed that a lot had happened and his heart was itching to know.
Henry was his younger brother while Charlotte was his younger brother's wife and then Amelia was their daughter. He wanted to know where they were, all he hoped was that they were all living well.
"Alexis," Eric sighed as he called out softly looking into his sister's eyes which were drenched with tears.
"Tell me, what happened over the past five years."
"Brother." Alexis suddenly burst into tears as she buried her head into Eric's chest while crying profusely. Eric could feel her hot tears flowing down his chest and his heart couldn't help but clench tightly.
At this moment, he knew whatever had happened wasn't good, but then he needed to know. He just couldn't continue to listen to his sister's cries. He had to make her talk, but then he couldn't force her.
"Alexis, it's alright, I'm here, tell me what happened." Eric sighed softly, raising Alexis's head as he helped her wipe away her tears.
"Brother..." Alexis wanted to talk, but then she started crying again.
"Just tell me what's wrong Alexis, it's alright." Eric forced a smile as he persuaded Alexis.
"Brother, after you left, everyone turned their back on us. Father was forced to sell the company and pay for loans he didn't know about until we had nothing left." Alexis sobbed as she began.
"Brother and his wife lost their jobs and were killed, but the sources claimed that they committed suicide as there's no evidence."
"Little niece was caught up in a school shooting incident and now has been in a vegetative state in the hospital for over the past three years, living on the support of the public."
"Father was caught up in an accident and is now paralyzed and can't move."
"If it was not for a friend of yours who helped me, I'm afraid I'll also be dead by now." Alexis sobbed as she narrated all that had happened to Eric.
At this moment, Eric felt his chest tighten as he couldn't believe his ears. His younger brother and wife were killed, their daughter was in a vegetable state and his father was paralyzed.
His sister was the only one who was alive, but even at that, she was wretched, he was sure she had been living a hard life as his father and niece would have to depend on her.
Not to talk about schooling, he was sure that eating a good meal was very hard for his sister and he wondered how she had been surviving for the past five years.
As all this was happening, where the hell was his fiancee, Rachel? The one whom he had gone to prison for.
"When all that was happening, what did Rachel do?" Eric held back his anger as he asked his sister.
"That bitch!" Alexis cursed angrily immediately after Eric mentioned her name.
"Immediately you were sent to prison, she broke all ties with us and said that you were dumb for taking the blame for what you didn't do. She hurled a lot of insults at us and said she was blind to wanting to marry someone like you."
"Brother, that woman is a viper." Alexis sobbed as he narrated everything.
Immediately, a powerful murderous aura burst out from Eric. He couldn't hold back his anger any longer.
The person whom he had gone to prison for turned his back on him the moment he was gone. He must have been blind for wanting to marry her at that time. His family was killed and turned into a set of useless people, his company which he worked so hard to build was acquired by someone else.p
Elliot, whose eyes were also red with anger hearing all that Alexis said, came back to his senses immediately after he sensed Eric's murderous aura. His master was angry, he knew his master well, and nothing could contain his rage.
Even if it was him, he wouldn't have been able to hold back, though he didn't know the full story, but from what Alexis had said, he knew it wasn't something he could take lightly.
Immediately after Eric's murderous aura burst out, the people in the surrounding found it hard to move and a shred of fear appeared in their hearts.
Even Eliot was no better, he had had to use all his powers here he was able block the aura. His master was truly powerful. Even on the battlefield, he had never seen him this angry.
"How is this brat better than me that you are willing to snuggle into his arms?" A hoarse voice came at the moment snapping Eric back to his senses.
Immediately, he withdrew his aura and stared at the man who had come to disturb his peace. Behind the man were seven to eight men and it was obvious they were gangsters.
Alexis on the other hand shivered hearing the man's voice and she couldn't help but snuggle deeper into Eric's chest as she felt a sense of security from him. She knew her brother was going to protect her, but still, she was rather afraid as she didn't want to put him in trouble.
"Tell me, how much did he offer you, and I'll be willing to give you double, besides, I'll clear up your debts." The blurry man grinned as he stared at Alexis not caring to hide the lust in his eyes.
