“Brother!” A soft voice came, bringing Eric back to his senses.
“Alexis, don't worry, I'm fine.” Eric smiled as he caressed his sister's hair, his eyes had already changed back to normal.
Even though in his mind, he had already sentenced the Carols' family to death. There was no way he was going to let them off after all that they've done.
“Boss, which restaurant would you like to head to?” The taxi driver's voice came once again.
“Just take us to anyone nearby.” Eric smiled at the driver.
At this time, the traffic on the road had already been cleared, so in about ten minutes or so, the driver pulled up in front of a restaurant.
Since Eric didn't specify where he was going and judging from the way he and Alexis were dressed, he might not be a powerful person, so the taxi driver was rather considerate and took them to a restaurant that wasn't a high-end one.
At least, the two would be able to afford the meal in this restaurant. Seeing the place, Eric smiled and didn't say anything. Thanking the driver, he alighted from the taxi along with Alexis and proceeded into the restaurant.
“Brother, isn't this place a little too expensive?” Alexis frowned as she looked at the restaurant.
Alexis was a bit nervous as she felt that the restaurant was a little too expensive. Ever since the family went on the decline, she had barely had a good meal and had been focusing on using all the money she had to help her father with his medication.
So, she felt that the restaurant was too expensive, even though five years ago, she would have been rather disdainful to eating in such a restaurant. Time could make a person humble.
“Don't worry, it's not too expensive." Eric smiled as he pulled Alexis into the restaurant, he knew the reason for her hesitation, but then he wasn't worried about anything.
The restaurant was naturally not a high-end one, so it was not too expensive. Besides, it wasn't that Eric couldn't afford the high-end ones, he had just let the taxi driver do what he wanted.
During his stay on the battlefield five years ago, he acquired many companies. Some were given to him by the enemies as ransom, while he forcefully acquired some. He didn't even know the exact amount of his wealth, so naturally, he didn't put the restaurant in his eyes.
Walking into the restaurant, Eric found an empty spot and walked towards it before sitting down with Alexis. Then he proceeded to order all the dishes in the restaurant.
“Brother, the food is too much, I can't finish it.” Alexis frowned as she stared at the food on the table.
“Don't worry about it, just eat up.” Eric smiled, he could already hear the loud growl of Alexis's stomach from where he was sitting and knew she must be rather hungry.
“But…"
“No buts, eat up.” Eric smiled, interrupting Alexis.
Alexis nodded and started to eat the food while Eric watched. At first, she was quite hesitant, but as time went on, she began to wolf down the food. Eric smiled seeing this scene.
He couldn't help but smile bitterly, his sister had suffered a lot. Even though she wasn't an arrogant person in the past, she still wouldn't eat like this, no matter how hungry she was. But now, she had discarded her image and was eating this way.
It seemed like she had it rough over the past five years. His brother's death was still etched in his mind, and he was going to make sure to get to the bottom of the matter. There was no way he was going to let off the culprit.
Besides, he knew his brother too well, he was rather well-behaved and didn't have any enemies, then who the hell had targeted his family while he wasn't around? Moreover, his family didn't have any enemies either, but then they were targeted right after he was gone.
Who the hell had done that, and why had they done it? Eric frowned as these thoughts swirled in his mind.
“Brother, aren't you going to eat.” Alexis's voice came, disrupting Eric's thoughts.
“Don't worry, just eat up.” Eric smiled, looking at Alexis who was looking at him with her mouth full of food.
“Alexis, I'll be right back, I need to use the bathroom real quickly.” Eric smiled as he stood up.
Alexis nodded as she wolfed down the food. She couldn't remember when last she had such a meal, and thus wanted to eat as much as she could.
Eric, on the other hand, had just remembered that he had no money on him. Besides, the card he had with him was just an ordinary card, and didn't have any money. So he wanted to call Eliot and make him transfer some money into his account.
In about a minute or so, Eric was done talking to Elliot and then walked back to where he had left Alexis. But to his surprise, Alexis wasn't sitting there. A couple had occupied her seat.
What the hell was happening? Where the hell was his sister? Who the hell dared to throw her out of the restaurant?
Rushing outside the restaurant, Eric saw Alexis standing in a corner with her face swollen while shivering. It was obvious that she had been slapped, as there were two huge palm prints on her face.
Seeing this, Eric's anger surged, who dared slap his sister? Maybe it was because he didn't cause a storm in Orange City that was why they knew nothing but to attack his sister.
Forcefully calming himself, Eric walked towards Amelia and pulled her into a hug, while whispering into her ears, “Who did that to you?”
“Brother…" Alexis shuttered as she broke down into tears, it was obvious that she had gone through a lot in just the short time he left.
“Tell me what happened?” Eric forced out a smile as he looked at Alexis.
Alexis nodded as she began, “Immediately you left for the washroom, a man dressed luxuriously came in with a woman, and then they said I should stand up. At first, I refused, but then the woman slapped me twice, then the security guards were called, and they threw me out of the restaurant.”
“I see,” Eric muttered, even though the anger in his voice was suppressed, one would still be able to feel the venom.
“Let's head back.” Eric continued as he dragged Alexis into the restaurant.
They had to pay for what they had done. That woman was going to lose her hands since she had dared slap his sister. If not for the fact that he didn't want to cause a commotion, he would have just killed her, as her son was just too great, and it was not something he could forgive.
“But brother…" Alexis shuttered as she wanted to argue.
“You have to take your revenge, no one would bully you while I'm here.” Eric interrupted Alexis as he shook his head firmly.
Both the family of the woman and the man would be laid to waste if the Shadow Vanguard heard that the sister of their master was slapped. He dared to say there was no one he couldn't offend in the world.
Only a handful of people around the world could mess with him and get away with it, besides, he could count them on one hand and there would still be space left.
Alexis didn't know what kind of power he commands, or else she wouldn't have been afraid of anything. Well, he wasn't planning on telling her anyway, but it didn't mean he would allow her to get bullied.
Walking into the restaurant, Eric walked straight towards the couple sitting in his seat.
“And who are you?” The man sitting beside the woman frowned, seeing Eric.
“So you've found a helper you trash.” The woman beside the man sneered.
“Alexis, slap her hard,” Eric commanded, ignoring the two.
