“Here, thank you.” Eric smiled as he and Alexis alighted from the taxi.
“Here.” Eric continued giving the taxi driver his money.
“Don't worry brother, since you're here to see someone, there's no need for me to collect your money, you can consider it as a free service.” The taxi driver smiled and immediately drove off before he could say anything.
Eric couldn't help but smile bitterly, seeing this. Even though the taxi driver didn't say much, he could tell that the man pitied them, that was why he didn't collect the money from them.
The clothes on his body were worn out and old, and the ones on his sister were no better. It seems like he would have to take Alexis along to get some clothes, as he couldn't allow her to continue going around in such old clothes.
“So this is the hospital Amelia is in.” Eric sighed as he looked at the building in front of him.
The hospital was not a massive one, besides, it was old and not looking good in any way. Eric's heart sank as he knew that his Niece wouldn't be receiving the required treatment from the hospital.
No wonder she was in a vegetative state. There was no way the hospital would have the equipment that would aid in waking her up. Besides, no matter how skilled the doctor in there was, with the lack of equipment they would be helpless.
“Let's go in, brother.” Alexis smiled as she pulled Eric into the hospital.
“Alexis, you've come to see your younger sister once again.” A voice sounded just as they walked into the hospital.
“Yes, Mr. Norman.” Alexis smiled as she turned around to face the owner of the voice.
Eric also turned around and looked at the man. The man in front of him was a middle-aged man in a white coat. He was a doctor.
“Who's this, Alexis?” The man smiled as he asked.
“Mr. Norman, this is my elder brother, he just returned from a trip.” Alexis smiled as she replied.
The man smiled and didn't say anything else, then he continued, “Alexis, the hospital is quite helpless with your sister's case, and it would be rather unwise to continue wasting money on her, I'd advise you to take her back home and look for her. I know it's been hard for you lately.”
Alexis sighed and didn't say anything. She knew the man was telling the truth and this wouldn't be the first time he had told her that, but she was still optimistic that Amelia was going to wake up.
But then over the past three years, there had been no changes and her body didn't respond to any medication.
The man was the only person who had helped her when she brought in Amelia when she was shot. He had tried his best, but still, he didn't manage to save her. If it was not for his help, Amelia might have died.
“Mr. Norman, thank you for your advice, we'll do something about it.” Eric smiled as he replied.
“That'll be better.” The man smiled and walked away.
“Alexis take me to Amelia's ward.” Eric smiled, looking at his sister.
Alexis nodded and led Eric to where Amelia was. Not long they got to the front of a ward and Alexis couldn't help but stop.
Eric forced out a smile and pushed open the door. Immediately, a pungent smell hit him, and he couldn't help but twitch his nose. The ward was not too big, nor was it too small. Inside was a little bed where Amelia lay.
Apart from the smell, the constant beeping of the machine was the only thing inside the room. Amelia's little figure on the bed felt rather distant, and Eric could see her bones trying to stick out of her flesh.
Besides, he could feel her life force. It was feeble at the moment. Eric knew that Amelia wouldn't be able to live for too long. He had to do something about it.
After about a minute or two, Eric sighed and walked out of the ward to meet Alexis, who was standing outside.
“Don't worry, I know someone who would be able to wake Amelia up.” Eric smiled as he informed his sister.
“Are you sure, brother? You aren't trying to make me feel relieved, right?” Alexis asked with doubt in her eyes.
Eric smiled as he looked at Alexis, “The person can also cure father of his paralysis.”
“So when is he coming?” Alexis asked as she chose to believe her brother. She knew her brother wouldn't lie about stuff like that.
“The person is not a he, it's a she.” Eric smiled, “Besides, she'll be coming over soon.”
Alexis nodded, feeling rather happy. Even though she wanted to ask how Eric had known the person, she didn't dare to ask.
“Let's go get some makeover for you, it's time for you to resume your education, you can't continue to be a dropout.” Eric smiled as he and Alexis walked out of the hospital.
“But brother, I still need to work.” Alexis frowned.
“Don't worry, your brother is here, there's no need for you to work any longer.” Eric smiled as he flagged down a taxi.
Alexis nodded and didn't say anything. There was nothing she could say anyway. Her brother wasn't going to allow her to work since he had said it, so she had long discarded the idea.
In no time, the taxi pulled up in front of a luxurious clothing mall. After paying the taxi driver, Alexis and Eric walked into the mall.
“Alexis, come try these clothes, they look beautiful,” Eric called Alexis over as he pointed at the clothes.
“Bother, didn't you look at the price tag, it's too expensive,” Alexis whispered.
“Who cares about it being Expensive, try it.” Eric ignored his sister and went over to touch the clothes.
“Don't touch it, you filthy trash!" A harsh voice came, making Eric stop in his tracks.
Raising his head, he looked at the owner of the voice, only to see one of the sales girls walking over with a haughty look on her face.
“Who the hell do you think you're talking to me that way?” Eric frowned as he stared at the girl.
“You of course!” The girl sneered.
“See how you're dressed, and yet, you have the guts to come in and try to touch these clothes. Are you blind? Did you see the price tag on it? I'm afraid you'll not be able to pay if you dirty it.”
Eric frowned as he stared at the sales girl. This girl was asking for a beating.
“How dare you look at me that way?” The sales girl raged as she berated.
“That girl beside you dressed as a beggar and yet, you want her to try on such expensive clothes, it seems like you don't know your limits.” The girl continued.
“I wonder when last she took a bath.”
Eric looked at the sales girl and decided to ignore her. It was not as if she could stop him from doing what he wanted anyway.
“Go to the changing room and try these clothes.” Eric continued and removed the clothes from the glass, giving it to Alexis to go try it on.
Alexis nodded and went to try on the clothes. The look on her brother's face showed that she wasn't allowed to disagree, so she could only do as he had ordered.
“How dare you." the sales girl gritted her teeth as she pointed at Eric.
“Get me your manager.” Eric frowned as he ordered calmly.
“You want to see our manager? Dream on!” The sales girl laughed.
“What does trash like you want with the manager?” The sales girl continued as she looked at Eric.
“I said get me your manager.” Eric's voice changed, and the girl couldn't help but shiver hearing Eric's voice.
For a moment, she felt as if death was close, as there was a trace of killing intent in Eric's voice.
“Fine I'll go get him, I'll see what you have to say to him.” The girl grunted as she ran away in fear.
Eric sighed and shook his head, were all people materialistic nowadays? Well, it was none of his business.
“Brother, how is it?” Alexis' voice came, disrupting Eric's voice.
“Perfect.” Eric smiled as he looked at his sister.
She looked perfect at the moment. Now that she had changed clothes, her temperament had changed along with it. If she was said to be rugged and timid before.
Her aura now was humble and composed. Maybe it was because of all that she had gone through which had made her like that. But the shed of arrogance she once had was once. What Eric wanted his sister to gain again was his confidence, not arrogance.
“Brother, I'll go remove it right now, I can't wear it, it's too expensive.” Alexis shook her head, she hurried, wanting to go and change the clothes.
"Who said it was expensive?” Eric frowned as he shook his head.
“Besides, we'll be getting it.” He continued.
“Go choose some other clothes, I'll be waiting for you.”
“I would say you buy out the whole mall instead.” A mocking voice came from behind.
“I think that's a good idea. Now I'll buy out the mall instead, then my sister and Niece can have an unlimited supply of clothes.” Eric replied as he turned around to look at who had just spoken while putting his hands into his pockets.
