Later that evening, Jaxon’s phone buzzed loudly on the table, the sharp sound cutting through the otherwise quiet room. He glanced at the screen, his lips curling into a knowing grin as he saw Ken’s name flash across it. He picked up the call, turning slightly away from Williams and Milly.

“Everything’s set up?” Jaxon asked, his voice low, though the excitement in his tone was evident.

On the other end, Ken’s voice responded, muffled but clearly affirming that all was in place. Jaxon nodded to himself, then ended the call. He pocketed his phone and turned toward the others, a playful smirk plastered on his face.

“Well,” he said, stretching his arms as if shaking off any tension, “I’ve got some business to take care of.”

Williams, already suspecting what “business” meant, arched an eyebrow, watching Jaxon closely. He leaned forward in his seat, his glass of wine balanced casually in one hand. “What kind of business?” Williams asked, keeping his tone neutral.
