CHAPTER 10

The following morning at the Miller's mansion, Jessica finally came out of her room with puffy eyes and a banging headache and proceeded towards the kitchen.

She met Lillian while she was preparing breakfast for the family. Lilian greeted Jessica but there was no response from her, she kept mute. She ambled towards the dining table and she sat quietly without uttering a single word, her stomach was rumbling. The aroma coming from the kitchen made the hunger increase profusely.

Within a minute her mother Mrs. Maria came down and found her daughter sitting quietly, she was so lost in deep thoughts that she didn't notice her coming.

Mrs. Maria knew her facial expression was a result of what happened the previous day. She had lost her job and the man she loved.

Mr. Maria moved towards Jessica and tapped her shoulder twice before being brought out of her reveries.
