CHAPTER 15

The next morning.

Jim woke up, only to be shell-shocked because he found himself in his room, the same place where he had lived for the past four years.

“What the hell?” he was out of words. “H-How did I get here? Is this a dream?”

[It’s not.] Anne calmly replied.

“I remember sleeping on a roadside bench last night, and it got really cold…” Jim thought. “I don’t remember after that.”

[Maybe you sleep-walked here in the middle of the night?] Anne wondered.

“Maybe?” Jim’s brows jerked. “You bastard… you brought me here after I slept. How could you do that to me?”

[What are you talking about?] Anne sounded innocent.

“Don’t play dumb,” Jim growled. “I’m not stupid. There’s no way I could have sleep-walked here. Why the hell did you bring me to this place? To these people that have cast me out of their house as well as from their hearts? How am I supposed to get out of this building without being seen?”
