CHAPTER 16

Rena woke up late with a gripping headache. She had too much to drink last afternoon, and she ended up sleeping twenty hours straight.

Even though she asked for coffee, nobody brought her coffee. And then she remembered that Jim was gone. He wasn’t just gone, but he was actually cast out of the family.

What bothered Rena was that she didn’t even stop her mother, even though she felt like Lola was doing the wrong thing.

“Poor Jim… I wonder where he stayed last night. He didn’t even have any money on him.”

Her body ached everywhere, so she struggled to get off the bed. The soles of her feet hurt a bit as she walked. She came out and called from the balcony. “Isn’t coffee ready yet?”

Marc was in the kitchen, but he acted like he couldn’t hear her. (You’ve been working as a finance manager in some big company for the past five years, and you haven’t even given me a penny from your salary. What makes you think I’ll make you coffee, Rena? If you want coffee, you have to make one yourself.)
