CHAPTER 23

After Rena went to work in her art company called Colorful Life, Jim found himself being given labor tasks by his mother-in-law and father-in-law. Marc purposely soiled his clothes on the lawn so Jim would be forced to wash them in a bucket instead of using the washing machine.

As Lola and Marc tested his patience at every possible opportunity, Shiney completely avoided him. In fact, she didn’t leave her room at all.

Worried, Jim took food to her room. “I brought you a meal, Shiney. Open the door.”

“I’m not hungry, so get lost,” she barked from inside.

“Are you sure? I made your favorite eggplant curry with extra spice,” he said.

“Huh, eat that yourself and get fat!” she cursed.

“I’m putting it out here, so feel free to come and eat whenever you want,” he put the dishes right outside the door and walked away.

Shiney was still sulking in her room. “Nobody values my feelings in this house. I’m going to find a job soon and make everyone treat me with respect!”
