The evening has come.The person that Jim had been waiting for since afternoon hadn’t come. He called her mobile, and she told him she was assigned a new project so she’d come late that night.Jim’s heart skipped. He didn’t want to miss this opportunity to get rid of Anne. “Do you want me to come to your office and help you with work?”“Stop kidding, Jim. I appreciate your intention, but you don’t have experience with this,” Rena said. “Don’t wait for me. “The ring is cursed?” Jim looked shocked as well as confused. “What do you mean it’s cursed?”[Someone put a curse on it, Jim. And I think you already know who it is.]“Who? Somewhere in the city.Lola stopped by a street that looked like an old slum. Wearing a mask, she roamed through the dirty streets and arrived at a brick house that was covered with bloody signs on the outer walls.She entered the house, and showed a visiting card to an old lady who stretched her palm. Lolo put 3000 dollars in her palm, and then she was taken to a specific room where living chickens were hanging from the ceiling. In the center of the room, a naked man was sitting in the center of the room with magic circles painted all around him. His nakedness was covered by the feathers of the chicken. His eyes were completely white.“1155 days,” he uttered. “That’s how long it has been since you’ve last visited me, Lola Adams.”Lola was visibly surprised. “Priest Enron. He probably never said no to her before, so she wasn’t just angry but was also shocked.“I’ll order some food for her and everyone,” she said, “so give it to me.”“I told you already,” Jim retorted. “I didn’t make much because there were only six carrots. I ate half and kept the other half for Rena. If I give it to you, then what about Rena?”“She will eat it some other time, so give that to me.”Jim shook his head. “No, I can’t. I already called Rena and told her that I’m cooking carrot pudding for her, and so she will be expecting to eat it after coming home. If I give it to you now, she’ll be upset.”“My daughter will not get upset if I eat her share because I was hungry,” Lola blurted.“But I will get upset if my wife doesn’t eat what I cooked for her,” Jim replied calmly.Lola gritted her teeth. Jim froze like a statue after Rena left the room. He totally didn’t expect that.“What’s she thinking?” He wanted to pull his hair. “I told her everything, and she still picked her mother’s side? This makes no sense.”[Well…] Joe calmly said. [I thought she’s a special woman, but it seems she’s not that special. You don’t have the money her mother has, so of course, she’s going to pick her mother’s side, Jim.]“No,” Jim refused to believe it. “Rena isn’t someone who’d base her opinion on which side has more money. Jim had already prepared breakfast for everyone in the house.She snorted at Jim as he served food. “You’re her husband, but my daughter puts me before anyone else, Jim. You still can’t accept that after these many years of living with her?” she shook her head. “This is why I’ve picked Bob. He’s rich and has many connections. He’ll be the son-in-law that can take the Adams family forward.”Jim didn’t like what he heard. Didn’t he also greatly help the Adams family four years back when they were going through hard times? In Colorful Life, the company where Rena was working, everybody began to clap after Rena’s presentation about the development of the project so far.The client even got out of his seat and appreciated Rena’s efforts by shaking her hand. “You’ve exceeded my expectations, Ms. Rena.” He was an old man in his sixties. “Keep it up.”“Thank you, Mr. Steve, but I’m Mrs. Rena,” she corrected him.“Oh, my apologies.” Steve Millman maintained his composure, and then left with Austin Woakes, the owner of the company.After work, Austin called Rena to his office and said, “Steve really liked your work and gave our company another project.”“That’s wonderful,” Rena was elated by the news.“Let me finish. Austin couldn’t drive peacefully because Rena and Jim were sitting in the back, and Jim had been constantly trying to poke and tickle Rena at different places. She was hissing at him, telling him to stop or Austin might notice, but Jim felt it too funny to stop after seeing the weird expressions she kept making.At one point, he sneakily closed in and blew air through the ear, and she had enough. She stomped on his foot. Because she was wearing high heels now, the pointy heel struck Jim’s foot, and he did his best to not cry out loud. Still, it was his turn to make weird expressions now as he bore all the pain.“Rena… how could you…” he painfully spoke. “I think you split my foot in half.” He wasn’t even wearing shoes, so the damage was real.
