CHAPTER 314

Bernard Williams reached the central police station to talk with the chief of police, but only the deputy chief was present there.

Because Bernard was a supreme court lawyer, the deputy chief personally received him into his office.

But there were no sofas in the office, so Bernard sat on the couch in the hall.
