CHAPTER 36

Jim took Victor along and went to the bank to withdraw 150,000 dollars. He built hope in Victor with the check; however, the bank employee told Jim that the check was canceled only minutes ago, leaving him shocked.

Jim was so stunned, he couldn’t move for a while. He thought of giving 120,000 dollars to Victor, and then keeping 30,000 dollars with himself. However, he didn’t see this happening at all. He didn’t think Lola would be so cruel and shameless.

Jim couldn’t even turn his face to look at Victor anymore.

Victor patted Jim’s shoulder. “Your mother-in-law made a fool of both of us, but don’t feel bad about this. I’ve lived my whole life doing my best to make ends meet.
