CHAPTER 52

Jim soon returned to Julia’s house.

Both Julia and Daniel were happy to see that he wasn’t wounded anywhere. Jim told them, “I dealt with the gang, and they won’t come after you for money.”

Julia was very much relieved to hear that. “H-How? Did you pay them?” she still asked.

“He probably roasted their asses, Mom,” Daniel said, grinning. “I should’ve been there to see it.”

Julia looked anxious all of a sudden. “You shouldn’t have fought with them, Jim. They are drunkards. They don't know what they do once they’re drunk. What if they come and attack us tonight?”

Julia’s words made Jim frown a little. Because Joe had given him a mission, he ended up doing it in a hurry, but now he wondered if he should have dealt it in another way.

Just then, siren sounds rang outside, skipping both Daniel and Julia’s hearts. “I-It’s the police! Jim, you should leave through the back door.”

“If I leave, they’re going to trouble you guys,” Jim said and walked out through the front door.
