JONATHAN : Son-in-law Who Suddenly Becomes a Millionaire.

Today Elissa seemed quite restless. Yesterday she was made happy, even Elissa was speechless by Jonathan’s treatment. Now was the time where Jonathan had to prove what was said two days ago in front of Elissa’s parents, Amaris, and also Luke. In fact, all of these people, including her grandfather, came to Elissa’s house just to witness the truth of Jonathan’s words. Meanwhile Jonathan went out and until this moment ... the man had not come home yet.

Elissa opened the door, she saw her mother standing behind her bedroom door. Elissa swallowed hard, then she returned her mother’s sweet smile.

“Although even now I myself still think that it is impossible for John to come home with two billion dollars in his hand, even though I also know that all of John’s boasting is just his imagination. But somehow my little heart really believes in John, Mom.  I know the reason of why John had to say such nonsense, everything that John did was nothing more than because he wanted to maintain his marriage to me. I don’t think there is any man in this world who would be willing if his wife was forced to divorce him and then forced to marry someone else. Whatever happens to John, he is a man of great pride, and the Weldiens continue to undermine his pride.”

Elissa’s mother chuckled in annoyance, she didn’t know what had happened to her daughter to make her love for Jonathan that crazy. Even Elissa’s mother felt that her daughter was being bewitched by Jonathan.

“Elissa, are you crazy? I don’t get your way of thinking at all. There are many unreasonable things that are clearly in front of your eyes, but you continue to be stubborn to maintain your household along with that jobless man. Listen to me, Elissa. In the Weldien family, you are the only member of the Weldien family who has embarrassed your grandfather. You know, all Weldiens have to marry into wealthy families who have at least two or three thriving businesses that will never go bankrupt. It was solely to maintain the Weldien family’s pride as the most respected and influential family in this country. All these rules are certainly light enough for the Weldien family, because even without us looking for everyone, they must be racing to approach the Weldien family.  But you suddenly changed all the old rules of the Weldien family by making your own. You made your grandfather angry and you were kicked out of the Weldien family residence. You now live in a small house like this, you have to get up early to deliver newspapers and milk to everyone, and in the afternoon have to take care of work in the bakery. Really, all of that is work that is completely inappropriate for members of the Weldien family to do. Even according to your education and experience, you are much more suitable to work as the main director of the company, Elissa.”

“Mom, believe me, all jobs are the same. As long as it is done with a happy heart, everything will feel light.”

“Oh my God, I think Jonathan has influenced you a lot. Now I no longer understand your way of thinking. Instead of me having to argue with you about Jonathan being shameless, you better call Jonathan to come home. This is the day when he would be kicked out of the Weldien family, lest he go into hiding, then he would make excuses if he was robbed and so on. Because we will never believe in his preposterous hallucinations.”

Elissa could only swallow hard, then she came out of the room and saw that everyone had gathered in the living room of her house. Everyone there seemed to be smiling happily, but it was very different from Elissa.

“Soon you will return to the Weldien family, Elissa. Wait a little longer, and the selfless unemployed man will be ashamed of himself.” Amaris said that with great confidence, while Elissa again held her breath perfectly.

“You don’t need to say things like that to me, Amaris. I know who John is, he is a person who will never break a promise.”

“Okay, let’s say your husband is the number one businessman in the whole world who can bring in two billion dollars in two days before us. Or ... let’s say your husband is a robber, a gambler, or does some dark work that makes a lot of money overnight.” Amaris was saying nonsense while laughing at Elissa. “Remember, Elissa, this is the real world. Not a Cinderella tale where a poor woman overnight could become a princess in her glass slipper.”

“I’m not Cinderella, indeed. I’m just a man named Jonathan Enstein who is always belittled by the Weldien family just because I haven’t worked for a few months.”

Everyone there turned around to see Jonathan enter the house.

“Wow, the main character in this ridiculous film has arrived. Come on, Jonathan, please come in. I’ve even prepared your divorce papers with Elissa.”

Jonathan smiled faintly. He walked closer to his wife and grabbed her waist possessively.

“Well, let him do his farewell to his wife.”

“John, where have you been? Everyone’s been waiting for you. Come on, stop doing stupid things, and apologize to everyone in here. I will make sure that our marriage will not be disturbed by anyone.”

“Apologize? Why should I apologize, Elissa? Have I ever done anything wrong to them? Instead they are the ones who should apologize to me, they have done many things that hurt me.”

Elissa shook her head, then she looked at Jonathan with a worried face.

“Have you forgotten your bet with Amaris over the two billion dollars?” Elissa asked.

Jonathan nodded his head perfectly.  “I remember, I remember it well. Today is a fateful day for me, Elissa. How could I forget this important day?”

“Then where have you been? And where is the money?”

“Be patient.”

Jonathan sat pretty beside Elissa then he spread his eyes to all the people who were there.

“It turns out that Grandpa also came, I was really touched to see Grandpa visiting our house.”

“Quickly show us the two billion dollars you want to show us. Or just sign this divorce papers and admit that what you said a while ago was just a hallucination that was of no use at all.”

Jonathan nodded his head perfectly, then he looked at everyone who was there.

“Okay—”

“Tsk! What a jobless man. He loves to act as if he is the most important man the world has ever seen. Don’t pretend to be the centre of the attention, you shameless!” Elissa’s father scolded.

“Father-in-law, be patient. Two billion dollars is not a small amount of money.”

“If you know that two billion dollars is not a small amount of money, then quickly shut up and don’t talk too much!”

Jonathan snapped his fingers, two of his personal servants immediately entered the living room then placed several suitcases on the table and opened the suitcases. Everyone shrieked in surprise when they found out that the contents of the entire suitcase were piles of money that had been arranged so neatly.

“M … money!” Amaris exclaimed in surprise. “Is this real?”

Jonathan immediately told his two servants to leave, then he smiled again.

“Do you think I’m joking? Or are you the one who’s  currently hallucinating? If so, then slap your cheek many times, or should I slap your cheek until you wake up from your reverie?”

Amaris immediately took some of the money to be sure. It wasn’t only Amaris either. Even Mr Weldien did it too.

“Is this real money?”

“I can’t give counterfeit money to my wife, Grandpa.”

Everyone who was there immediately fell silent, their faces were extremely red. They felt embarrassed because of their own words.

“Now explain to me, Jobless man. You know, the richest people in this country alone only have ten billion dollars worth of wealth which of course they themselves would never spend two billion dollars in vain like this. But you, who are just an unemployed person ... How can an unemployed person like you be able to have two billion dollars even in just two days? What exactly are you doing? What did you do to get this much money? Where did the money come from? I don't want my daughter to get money from an unknown source!” Elissa’s father scolded again.

“Father-in-law doesn’t need to worry, all this money is not money from robbing, stealing, or from selling any illicit goods. This money is mine, so stop saying such nonsense, Father-in-law.”

Everyone fell silent again, they felt embarrassed to death. They couldn’t avoid the fact that Jonathan actually had two billion dollars like what was promised. Even though Jonathan was unemployed, even though Jonathan was someone who couldn’t be trusted, and even though they themselves couldn’t believe that Jonathan could earn that much money in such a short time.

“Now that I have fulfilled my promise, I have given my wife two billion dollars as capital. Shouldn’t you guys who are here also fulfil your promise as well? Stop intervene in my marriage, stop saying that I am unemployed and stop belittling me, and stop throwing tantrums in my marriage. And you, Amaris ... Isn’t your promise far more than mine? You promised to apologize to me in front of everyone then kiss my feet, didn’t you? Do it quickly, because I have many witnesses when you say that, and stop bringing any man into my house to betrothed to Elissa. Because Elissa is my wife, you and anyone who is here have no rights whatsoever to Elissa apart from me.”

Everyone was silent again, while Elissa could only be stunned to see Jonathan who at this time looked very cool.

Amaris was speechless, she did not know what to do now. She was mad and angry because she felt like she had lost to Jonathan. Those feelings were raging in her heart. She couldn’t even move from where she was sitting.

“Come on, Amaris. Why are you just sitting there? Stand up and come to me, kiss my feet. Are you a coward who suck your own spit after you agreed to our bet? Tsk! Look, a proud grandchild of the Weldien family is disgraceful,” Jonathan scoffed.

Amaris who felt humiliated immediately stood up, she walked slowly as her body was shaking violently. She stood right in front of Jonathan, almost crying. She knelt in front of Jonathan and was about to kiss Jonathan’s feet.

However, before Amaris could kiss Jonathan’s feet, Mr. Weldien’s cell phone rang. Mr. Weldien immediately picked up the phone with a serious expression on his face.

“Yes, what is it, Saras? Quickly tell me if something happens in the company.” Mr. Weldien started to speak.

Mr. Weldien was silent for a while, then he frowned perfectly.

“What! How could that be? Are you kidding me!” scolded Mr. Weldien. He immediately hung up the phone, then he quickly stood up. He approached Amaris then hit Amaris’s temple perfectly.

“What are you doing with the Weldien Group, Amaris! How come? It’s only been two days since you took care of the Weldien Group ...  And now our family company is ruined!”

“What are you talking about, Grandpa? What have I done? I don’t understand Grandpa’s words at all?”

“Just so you know, Amaris. The Weldien Group has been destroyed. The Weldien Group stock market has plummeted because of your irresponsibility! Now who can save Weldien Group from the brink of bankruptcy? We need a big donor but until now the company has not found a single donor who dares to have a relationship with our company!”

Jonathan heard that and seemed quite happy, then he walked out and met his two servants who had been faithfully waiting for Jonathan’s orders at the front door of the house.

“You guys come here.”

“Yes, Mr. Enstein?”

“Do you know that the stock market is pretty good right now?”

The two servants were still silent, they did not understand what Jonathan was talking about.

“Recent news on the stock market is quite good, it’s just that some companies are experiencing a crisis and have to sell their shares in large quantities to help those companies.”

“What company is that?”

“Weldien Group, WN Group, and—”

“Buy all the shares that the Weldien Group sold. Make sure I’ll become the highest shareholder there. Can you do it?”

“Very well, Mr. Enstein. We are ready to do it for you.”

“Good, once you are done, you may return. I will take care of my guests first.”

Jonathan then entered his house, his steps were slowing down as he saw and heard another report buzzing in his ear.

“The amount of wealth has increased by two hundred percent. You occupy the top ten influential businessmen in the country.”
