The Gatekeeper spread her arms almost at the same time, and a bright light engulfed her just like before. The adventurers were also moved to cover their eyes, and within a few seconds, she vanished alongside the light.

“She is gone, guys!” Vince said while he looked around to be sure that his words were true. The others joined him to look around the bridge as well, and when they were certain that she was really gone, they moved their eyes to the gate and looks of relief appeared on their faces.

“We did it, guys! We found the treasures!” Dwayne said with an excited voice, and a bright smile appeared on his face.

“Can you believe this? After everything we have been through, we finally did it!” Sierra added, maintaining the smile that appeared on her face.

“I guess we have to find out what’s inside there.” Vince said after a few seconds, and everyone nodded in response, expressing much eagerness to see the treasures.

“Come on, guys! You heard her! We must hurry before it’s nightfall

Dwayne on the other hand seemed to be the only elf in the cave who was not packing treasures for himself. He scoured through the corners of the cave with evident indications that he was looking for something. “Where is it? It’s not here!” He said with a whisper, still looking around separately. He stood for a few seconds, and when he couldn't get any clue about what he was looking for, he was forced to take a few steps forward, moving slowly while he continued searching for what he desired, ignoring the treasures that glittered in the cave. Jack soon caught up with Lucy who turned to look at him after having a fill of the treasures that were in the cave. She sighed heavily and cleared her throat as soon as she saw that he was standing next to him. “This place is filled with a lot of beautiful things. How did all these treasures get here?” Lucy asked with a whisper, turning to look at Jack who didn’t think that he had any answer to give to her even though he thought about it. “I do

Lucy asked with a calm voice, pointing at some of the glittering items that could make the eyes yearn for them, scattered all over the place in different quantities and sizes. She kept her eyes on Jack, but even though she could see that he was equally fascinated by the quantum number of treasures in the cave, he didn't seem so intrigued just like every other person. Jack took in a deep breath which he let out slowly, and then had taken a quick glance at some of the treasures by the corner of the cave, he returned his gaze to Lucy and sighed softly. “These are really beautiful, Lucy, and I would love to have some. But we mustn’t forget that we are here for a reason which is to save our city from doom. We need that medallion or we will fail on our mission. The whole city is counting on us, we must do everything we can to make sure we do what we were sent here for.”“Yeah, you are correct, Jack. We must never lose focus.” Lucy nodded to affirm the words, J

Even though he had already seen the necklace hanging on Lucy’s neck closely, Jack couldn't stop admiring it. It looked as though it looked more beautiful on her, and he was glad that he made the perfect choice for her. While they were still staring at each other with smiles on their faces, they heard the sound of objects clattering from a distance, and they lifted their faces almost at the same time to see what was going on. “Why isn’t it here? It’s supposed to be here!” Dwayne’s voice resounded from where he stood. It was obvious that he was a little bit frustrated, and he fumed with so much annoyance while he looked at some of the items that were scattered all over the floor. “The map says it should be right here!” Dwayne opened the map with both hands and then he looked at it carefully to confirm the thoughts that crept into his mind. He looked closely, and even brought the map closer to his face to be certain that he was seeing clearly. “It should be here! It should be in this

We came all the way to find it, and now it’s missing. It should be here somewhere.” Jack was forced to speak after hearing the words from Sierra. He looked around anxiously, but just like Sierra, he was able to see that it didn’t look like the medallion could be any other place than where they were standing. “Dwayne? What does the map say?” Jack asked calmly as soon as he looked at Dwayne who turned slowly to face him without being able to get rid of the angry look on his face. “The map is useless now, Jack. There is no indication of where the map is, everything I know is from the words of Charles Oliver. He said the medallion was going to be here, he was certain of it!” Dwayne pointed to a spot on the wall of the cave, and everyone turned instantly to take a look. For a few seconds, none of them said a word while they struggled with their minds, relying to figure out a way to tackle the situation that was facing them. “What does this mean?” L

Lucy was together with Jack, and they moved to the right corner of the cave where they searched tirelessly for anything that could look like the drawing Dwayne had shown to them. They moved some of the treasures that were heaped on top of each other away in order to make sure that they left no stone unturned, and sooner than later, sweatballs began to appear on the faces, and several parts of their bodies, but the thought of giving up never crossed their minds even in the midst of the little frustration that resulted from their futile efforts. “Do you see anything?” Lucy asked with a strained voice after lifting the last object in front of her which she felt could be covering up the medallion if it was truly there. She looked at Jack, and seeing that he was still searching, she decided to wait until he was done. In less than ten seconds, Jack was done searching the last place left for him to search, and he lifted his head slowly before turning to look at Lucy who was still looking

“I can’t remember saying that there was a problem, Vince,” Sierra said with a smirk on her face, but her words made Vince grunt, and he insisted that there was something wrong. “Then why does it seem as if you have something going on in your mind? Maybe you can let it out instead of harboring it in your thoughts.” “I don’t remember telling you that I had anything going on in my mind, Vince! Maybe you should be the one talking to me about whatever you have in mind!” Sierra fired back at once, glaring at her brother who grunted angrily before he took a step closer to her. Sierra thought he was going to attack him, and she took a stance instantly, ready to defend herself just in case her brother was planning to throw a punch on her face. “Guys! I think that’s enough! We don’t need to fight about this! You both are siblings for crying out loud!” Jack stepped in at once, holding his hands in front of the two elves who looked at him after he interru

For a moment, Vince felt like his companions had abandoned him, and he grunted inwardly, looking at them with his eyes wide open while they displayed so many acts that showed that they were eager to walk away from him. “I am certain that they are not going to find anything, I am sure of it. I can bet my life on it!” Vince beat his chest while he looked at his companions who had already surrounded the cave. They waited for a short while before they began to look around it. “Time to prove them wrong,” Vince said while he was still bearing the thought that he was right and that nothing could be found anywhere near the throne. He looked at his sister for a few seconds, wondering why they were always at loggerheads with each other. He realized that he had no answers to give to himself, and he hissed. Reluctantly, he began to walk to the throne while he held onto his spear with a tight grip, not ready to let go for any reason. “I sat on that throne, there is no way I would have missed i

Taking in a deep breath which he exhaled slowly, Jack did what he had in mind, and pushed down the symbol effortlessly. Everyone stepped back at once, including him while they looked around with their weapons tightly gripped, ready to take action if necessary. “Why is nothing happening, Jack?” Lucy asked with a whisper, looking at Jack who was holding up his sword, ready to make it blaze as soon as he saw anything dangerous. “Maybe he didn’t push it well. I think I should push it well…” Sierra moved to push the crest again, but the sound she heard made her stop instantly while she looked at the throne which seemed like it was transforming into something that looked like a flat surface with a stand. “What’s this?” Dwayne said with a tone laced with a little disappointment as he wasn’t expecting to see something like that. Maybe it would have been better if he saw something that looked like a boobytrap than what he saw. “Is this a prank? What are we

We all came here together, we should leave together.” Vince looked around as though he was expecting to see Dwayne, and when he didn’t see any sign of him, he shook his head and sighed heavily. “Did he go with anything?” Sierra said with a low tone, looking at Jack who quickly understood why she was looking at him.“The medallion!” He reached for his Pocket at once, and as soon as he felt the medallion, he sighed heavily, giving others a reason to remain calm. “I don’t know if he is going to be able to make it on his own, guys. You all saw the way his body looked. I don’t think he will be able to be out there on his own. This dimension is full of monsters.” Lucy said with a tone laced with so much concern, but Sierra scoffed almost, with a look of disdain on her face. Lucy stared at her with a little surprise in her eyes, wondering why she was still the way she was. She seemed to be the only pe

For the first time ever since they left the city for the dimension in search of the medallion, the adventurers slept like babies, with a little relief in their minds. All of a sudden, they had forgotten that they were in am area where monsters and creatures of all kinds nestled. Nothing else mattered at that time, not even the fact that they weren’t sure of how to go back. Jack was the first to wake up at the first flicker of dawn. He blinked his eyelids several times to get rid of the weakness that tried to shut his eyes just before he stretched and yawned, pushing himself up while he groaned loudly. He could see that the sun was shining brightly, but the strange color of the dimension still remained the same, different from that of Earth. Right beside him was Lucy who was still sound asleep, enjoying the cool breeze that perched on her face. She smiled while she was fast asleep, and Jack could tell that she was having the most amazing dream.

“Guys? None of you is saying anything! You can’t just keep quiet about this, whatever decision we are making, I think we need to make it together.” Jack said calmly while he looked at Lucy whose eyes were saying more words than her mouth at that time. He could see from the look in her eyes that she wanted him to pass judgment that would be very easy for him to endure. She was even willing to let go and hoped that everyone was going to agree with her even though she knew that it was going to be very difficult, especially with Sierra involved. Lucy was the most compassionate among all the adventurers, she was merciful and kind, and could easily be made to react to very emotional situations. Her eagerness to react to such things made her the weakest link to them, and she didn’t even know about it. “I think we should let go of everything he has done to us, and move on. After all, we already have found the medallion, and it doesn’t look like we are going to

Jack gestured to Dwayne to explain to them, and he moved to the middle where everyone was going to be able to see and hear him clearly. Luckily, the rays from the moonlight were still bright, and he could still be seen. Sierra didn’t seem interested to hear what he was going to say, but when she saw that every other person had gotten closer to him, she reluctantly did the same and stood behind him, watching and waiting with her arms folded. Dwayne looked at his companions one after the other, and when he saw that they were paying attention while they surrounded him, standing at different corners, he sighed heavily before he went ahead to tell them what they had been longing to hear. “I am dying.” He said with a shaky tone, but his words came as a shock to his companions who didn’t know if they were to believe him him or not. They stared at each other for a few seconds before they returned their gazes to him, waiting for him to tell them that he was joki

Everyone had become very silent while they looked at Jack who began to come down slowly, looking at Lord Rasmus who threatened to kill Lucy and was serious about it,. He wasn’t mincing words, and Lucy was aware of this as well. “You are wasting my time, boy! Hurry up at once, hand over the medallion, or she is dead!”“You will get the medallion! Don’t just hurt her! Don’t hurt her, okay?” Jack gestured to Lord Rasmus while he slowly came down, and the glow that covered him went off at once. The medallion fell into his hand, and he held it firmly while walking toward him. “Come on! Hand it over, now!” Lord Rasmus said imperatively while he had his eyes on the medallion, still holding onto Lucy who was still shivering under the influence of the fright that gripped her. Halfway to getting to Lord Rasmus, Jack noticed the presence of some shadowed creatures behind him, and he had to stop to be sure he wasn’t hallucinating. The figures disappeared almost as soon as they appeared, and Ja

Lord Rasmus grunted and filled with the strong determination to get what he wanted, he pointed to Lucy who shivered at once, knowing what was about to happen to her. “Get her! I think he will have no choice but to do my bidding! let's see if she will be able to convince him to let go of my medallion!” The soldiers began to move to Lucy who took three steps backward, frightened that her life was going to be at stake at that moment. “Jack! I need you! Please…” She whimpered while she was still moving backward until she almost staggered to the ground. While Jack was still struggling to understand what was going on, he heard the sound of Lucy’s voice, and reacting to it, he turned abruptly to look at the soldiers who had gone after her, still hanging in the air.“Don’t get close to her!” He said angrily to the soldiers, but they ignored him, and grabbed Lucy at once, dragging her to Lord Rasmus while she struggled to free herself from the

At that moment, the strange sensation that engulfed Jack made him take two steps toward the tomb, but the soldiers who were focused on the tomb as well didn’t take notice of him. As the sensation became more intense, so did he increase his steps, moving gradually but with a constant pace while his eyes continued to gaze at the tomb. “Finally!” Lord Rasmus brightened his face as he approached the tomb as though his life depended on it. He got very close to it, and as soon as the soldiers moved farther away from the tomb, he reached into the tomb and grabbed the medallion with both hands, lifting it up into the air until everyone could see it. “This is the medallion?” Sierra said with a smirk on her face while she stared at the bronze medallion that was visible to every other person. She seemed a little bit disappointed at how small and ordinary the medallion, and she was almost about to regret coming on that mission for something like that. Jack saw this and wished he could make a move, but the soldiers standing close to him were already aware that he could not be overlooked and had their eyes on him. “What did you say?” “I said that they are going to raise the spirits of the dead kings! I come from a lineage of necromancers, and I know that the tombs of kings should never be desecrated in any way, no matter what. This could awaken their spirits, and they could come for retaliation.” Lucy said with a sh
