"Scram out of the way ant!"
Looking over, James saw the one who had just spoken. It was an arrogant looking man with an upturned brow. He was standing in front of seven hefty looking men who were carrying a luxurious palaquin on their shoulders.
Seeing this strange entourage, James lips curled up into a small smile of amusement.
"You bastard! why are you still standing there smiling like an idiot?! scram out of the way!" the arrogant looking messenger cried out, feeling irritated at the smile on James lips.
"The path is obviously wide. Why do I have to make way for you? aren't you just intentionally looking for trouble?" James questioned back, stunning both the nearby passerbys and the arrogant messenger.
"You! you dare speak to me like that?!"
The arrogant messenger pointed at James with trembling fingers. It was like he had just seen a ghost.
"Who the hell do you think you are? aren't you just an errand boy?" James shrugged before losing any further interest in the other party.
"You!!" the eyes of the arrogant messenger became bloodshot as he attempted to lash out when a soft voice suddenly rang from the palaquin.
"Leave him be. You shouldn't be bothered with such a small fry. Our target is the Alchemy Competition"
"Yes Miss Sasha!" the arrogant messenger nodded respectfully..
Giving James one last look, he snorted before leading the entourage behind him through the gate. Upon passing by, he couldn't resist saying;
"Thank your lucky star brat"
James merely pretended to have not heard this as he attempted to pass through the gate when suddenly two of the security guards there blocked his path.
"I am sorry but no vehicles or mounts is allowed through the gate" one of them informed him expressionlessly.
"What kind of rule is that? what about the errand boy with the palaquin?" James whined stubbornly..
The arrogant messenger who was leading the entourage behind him in the distance almost vomited blood when he heard James statement.
However recalling the earlier warning he had received, he managed to calm down, while inwardly scheming of how he was going to make James pay if they ever ran into each other again.
"Their case is different. I am sorry but these are the rules. If you don't want to comply then you can scram" the other security guard was more direct.
"Fine" James found a spot to park his scooter and successfully passed through the gate. Upon doing so, he was met with a bustling scene.
"Young man! this tree sprout is the ancient bodhi tree of legend! planting this in your home would attract good karma to you and endless success would be at your home " James had just arrived when an old looking peddler blocked his path, showcasing his product
It was a plant that was in its early stage of growth within an ancient looking vase covered with dust.
Seeing James curiously appraising the vase, the old peddler cleared his throat as he continued speaking.
"This bodhi tree has an ancient origin. It was found upon the collapse of a popular Buddhist temple in the West. This vase is made out from the roots of an undying willow. You might not know this but an undying.."
The old peddler was about to continue when James shut him off
"You can carry your marketing somewhere else " James gave the vase one last look before losing interest.
"You! do you know how valuable this bodhi tree is? truly blind!" the old peddler cried.
"Hmpfh. What nonsense bodhi tree. That is just a brown sesame root oak tree sprout. Although during its earlier period of growth it bears a slight resemblance with a bodhi tree, you can differentiate the two. A brown sesame root oak tree sprout normally has tree criss crossed veins on both sides while the bodhi tree sprout does not. So tell me, how can this be a true bodhi tree sprout?" James sneered.
Perhaps if it was others they would be fooled. However James had spent the last three years journeying the world with his mysterious master. During that time he had learnt about ancient alchemy as well as identifying real herbs and rare materials from fakes.
"Damnit! you win!" a hint of panic flashed in the eyes of the old peddler as he quickly ran away.
"Nice. This is the first time I have seen a newbie not get fooled by that bastard old man" a string of clapping rang out from behind James..
"You are?" James turned towards the culprit.
It was a fattie with two dimples on both sides of his cheeks. He had thick eyebrows and a naughty glint would occasionally flash past his eyes. One look at him and one would quickly conclude that he was a bad person.
"My name is Lucas. Might I know who this young master is?" the fattie asked James respectfully.
"James. I noticed you wanted to tell me something when that old scammer first approached me?" James smirked.
"Ah. Since you already know, asking me about it would be embarrassing " Lucas scratched his head awkwardly.
"Is this how the place is on a normal day?" James scanned his eyes around before shaking his head.
A majority of the peddlers advertising their wares were fakes. Unfortunately, many ignorant people kept on patronizing them.
"Old Wu Town is a dangerous place. The fake and the real stuffs are mixed up so it would depend on your luck. Sometimes you might spend all your fortune only to buy fake goods " Lucas sighed before giving James a look.
"However people like you are different. You are capable of spotting the real from the fakes " he gave James a thumbs up.
"People like me?"
"Yep. Aren't you a Divine Physician? only Divine Physicians can spot fake herbal materials. As such they don't usually stick around the outer region for long" Lucas explained as he licked his lower lips.
"Judging from your behavior, you must be new here right? why don't I show you around the inner region before the Alchemy Competition starts?"
"Alright. That works fine " James agreed. Although he was curious regarding the Alchemy Competition Lucas mentioned, he didn't ask him about it.
He was just interested in purchasing the herbs for Mr. Krios treatment. After that, he would leave.
Under the lead of Lucas, James made his way around the Outer Region of the Ancient Market. When James arrived at the Inner Region, he couldn't resist sighing emotionally. The spiritual qi in the air was so dense that without even activating his breathing technique, James could feel his pores opening up as they automatically absorbed the spiritual qi. If he wasn't on an errand and wasn't so broke, James wouldn't mind opening a shop in this region. If he cultivated in this place for just a week, his Cultivation results would be massive! However, it wasn't only the spiritual qi in the atmosphere that changed. Compared to the Outer Region, the Inner Region was far more organized. No matter what corner James looked, he didn't find a single wandering peddler. Instead, there were various large shops displaying their wares in see through glasses."Nice. Those are Cicada Glass correct?" he recognized the see through glasses right away."Indeed. The Young Master is amazing to have recognized Ci
"Hmph, where do you think this place is bumpkin.. these seven herbs are nowhere special. Of course we would have them. Hmph " the female receptionist clicked her tongue as disgust flashed past in her eyes."Then why did you shake your head?!" although James had a feeling the other party was just trying to make things difficult for him, he still chose to remain cordial. "Although we have the seven herbs in stock, unfortunately for you they are all listed on the Items to be auctioned off today. If you want to purchase them, you would have to join the auction" a mocking sneer appeared on the lips of the female receptionist as she sneered inwardly. Judging from James outfit and the fact that he was acquainted with Lucas, she figured he wasn't the type who could afford a membership in a prestigious auction event as the one hosted by the Green Leaf Auction House. However just as she was expecting James to leave with a crestfallen expression, he remained rooted on the spot. This infuriate
"You Think I am mistaken?" Manager Talia glared icily at the female receptionist. A few moments ago she had been in the midst of preparing for the oncoming auction event when she suddenly received an alert from one of the company's debit software. According to the software, a very high level bank card had been introduced into one of their ATM machines. As such Manager Talia had literally sped all the way over. Who would've expected that one of her blind staffs was in the process of chasing the prestigious customer away?! "If you don't want to lose your job, apologize to the honored guest right now!"Many of the passerbys felt a bomb exploding within their heads when they heard Manager Talia's words. Some of the crafty ones even brought out their phones as they began recording the interaction. Someone who could warrant such respect from Manager Talia had to have come from a prestigious background! Whether it was Lucas or the female Receptionist, their jaws dropped as they gawked a
"Bestie guess what?""What?""My trash husband just won a lottery of two million dollars!!"Becca stared at her best friend with her eyes opened up as they were filled with absolute shock.Seeing the look of surprise on her friend's face, Layla was currently undergoing a manicure, wriggled her toes in excitement before smacking her red lips."That's right. That useless bastard. Since the two years we got married, yesterday night was the first time I have ever given him a kiss on the lips " Layla's brows creased as she didn't bother hiding the disgust on her face."The useless wretch even wanted to consummate our marriage " she added with a shake of the head."Did you?" Becca had with her eyes sparking with interest."What do you think!" Layla smiled sweetly."I don't usually enjoy guessing, but I'll bet that you did?" Becca shrugged her shoulders."Then you don't know me girl " Layla burst into an amused fit of laughter."You didn't?" Becca appeared surprised."But he--""Hmpfh " Lay
Welcome to Atlas City" a soft voice boomed through an implanted mega phone as a multitude of passengers ranging from male to female, all slowly alighted from a plane.Among the multitude was a young man in his mid twenties clad in a white tank top and joggers. The shirt he wore didn't bother concealing his well chiseled abs and biceps."I'm finally home.. after so long" James smiled emotionally as he walked down the stairs of the plane.Three years.. it's been three years since he last saw such a bustling crowd. Now that he was finally able to witness this scene, tears nearly dropped from his eyes.Picking up his bag, James slowly walked out from the airport premises. He had not gone very far when a taxi pulled over in front of him."Where to?" the windscreen slid down, revealing the earnest expression on the taxi man's face."I don't have any cash" James chuckled as he shook his empty wallet."Hmpfh" the taxi man merely snorted before driving off, in an attempt to look for legit cus
Bang! Bang! Two loud knocks echoed, followed by a rough pitched voice.. "Old lady! it is time to pay up your dues!!" When Stella heard this, her body trembled. James noticed this reaction, causing him to ask with a suspicious frown. "Mum? what is it?" "Ah. It's nothing. Just some old visitors. James why don't you go to your room and let me handle this?" Stella chuckled awkwardly. Giving her a suspicious look, James went deeper into the house. Although he had some suspicions, he decided to obey his mother's wishes. After leaving her for so long to bear his cross with nobody to complain to, James figured it was the least he could do. Only after confirming that James had left did Stella suck in a nervous breath as she opened the door, revealing seven hefty looking men in rugged clothing. "You old hag what took you so long huh?" the one who spoke was the thug at the lead. He had a green serpent tattoo on the right side of his neck and a fat blunt was trapped in between his blac
"It's been three years, but now that I stare at it, it looks like it's just been a few days" James sighed emotionally as he stared at the bungalow before him whose environment was already overridden with grass. After the confession from the thugs, James let them go, however that was not before breaking half of their bones. Although he couldn't kill them, he could inflict serious pains on their bodies. This would teach them to think twice before trying to bully an helpless old lady. With nothing to do James had begun strolling around the city untill he finally arrived before this bungalow. This was the home he shared with Becca before he suddenly received the divorce papers on the wall three years ago. Judging from the unhealthy environment, he could tell that Becca had not visited the place in a very long time. "Sigh. Just thinking about that evening makes me depressed every time" James shook his head as he walked away. Just as he was about to cross the road to the other side, a
"Dad! you can't just make such a rash decision!" Charlotte stared at her father in shock. This was the first time she had seen her father make such a rash decision. Who was her father? he was Blancho Krios; Atlas City's top richest entrepreneur and investor who was known for his strategic thinking mindset. Yet just a few minutes of meeting this unknown young man who only knew how to sprout nonsense, he was about to will him half of his whole fortune! "You bastard! what have you done to my father huh?!" she blamed James with an angry expression. "Charlotte, don't accuse our esteemed friend like that.." Mr. Krios corrected his daughter before flashing James an apologetic smile. "I apologize for my daughter's rude behavior. She has eyes but cannot recognize mount tai " "Ah. I won't dare receive such a bloated praise " James waved his hand with a small smile. "However I am not healing you because of your wealth. From the first time I saw you, I could already tell that you are a g
