Chapter Thirty-One - Thread or warning?

It had been an hour since Jason and Diana signed the papers. It had been an hour since they ended a three-year union in about three seconds. It had been an hour, and in that time, Jason should’ve already reached the apartment and called Timothy and Reuben to meet up with him like he said he would.

But he was still parked a few blocks away from the Sinclair mansion, sitting still in the driver's seat, staring into the distance, dazed.

A single tear traveled down his cheeks as he thought of what he had just done. This is exactly why he wanted to sign the papers today; he knew that if he waited for even a day, he wouldn’t trust himself to sign them.

What hurt him more was that when he looked back at their marriage, he didn’t have memories of laughter or warmth. Maybe in the honeymoon stage, but most of it was Diana’s silent disdain. She had only just started coming around when Stephen came in with that ultimatum that put it all to an end.
