Chapter Twenty One - 5th Avenue

Now on 5th Avenue, Jason was set on getting the perfect jewel for Diana. He had called Timothy earlier to bring the Escalade for him, as lugging around a million dollars would be impractical. Also, he no longer felt safe walking.

He walked down 5th Avenue, surrounded by high-end shops showcasing fancy window displays and pristine interiors. Overwhelmed by all the different options, he entered the first store on his left.

Once he walked in, he saw a man selling an emerald necklace to a lady in a designer outfit.

“Your total is fifty-two thousand dollars." The man said

The woman rummaged through her purse to retrieve her card. She got it out, then handed it to the man.

He swiped the card, but the machine beeped loudly and showed DECLINED.

“There must be a mistake,” the woman said. “Swipe it again.”
