Chapter Six: Will definitely be there

"Hey, Jason!" Eloise called out from the other end. "I wanted to invite you to my wedding," She said cheerfully.

But Jason didn't say a word. He just remained silent.

Noticing that Jason wasn't planning on saying anything, Eloise snickered.

"What’s the matter? Are you too scared to come?" She asked sarcastically.

Jason let out a light chuckle. "Not scared at all, Eloise. On the contrary, I’d be honored to attend."

Eloise laughed out. "That's great! For a second there I was worried you might chicken out on me," She said, a grin evident in her voice.

"Never," Jason replied. "I wouldn’t miss it for the world." He said and hung up.

Just then, Lisa walked into the house. She had a bag in her hand and a playful smile on her face.

"I’ve got a surprise for you, Jason," she said as she walked towards him.

Jason glanced at her "A surprise, huh?" he replied flatly. "What would that be?"

"You’ll see soon enough," she said, walking past him and towards her room.

A while later, Lisa reappeared in a new set of pajamas, holding a bottle of red wine in one hand and a file in the other.

She sat next to him, that smile still on her face.

"So, what’s the surprise?" He asked once more.

Without saying a word, Lisa poured the wine out, handing him a glass as the faint scent of her perfume lingered in the air.

Jason took the glass, giving a nonchalant nod. "Thanks."

Lisa took a sip herself, her alluring neck bending in a beautiful arc as she drank.

"I found out what Lloyd Richardson is planning to do to Gates Group," She said in a soft but firm tone.

Jason leaned forward, showing interest. "And what would that be?" He asked her.

She took a sip of her wine before dropping it on the table.

"Lloyd is planning to get shares in Gates Group by marrying Eloise Gates, the CEO of Gates Group," She explained.

Jason raised an eyebrow but remained calm. "There's nothing improper about that. It's just business."

Lisa gave him a knowing look and then handed him the file. "You might want to take a closer look. I'm sure you'll think differently," She said to him.

Curious, Jason opened the file and glanced through it. His expression changed instantly as he saw the heading of the document.

It was a divorce petition.

Lloyd’s plan was more meticulous than he had thought.

He was going to marry Eloise, buy the stocks, and then file for a divorce later on. That way, he can legally take over the Gates Group.

Lloyd's plan was both brilliant and malicious.

Noticing Jason's silence and reactions, Lisa hesitantly asked. "Why are you so concerned about the Richardson Group? It's not like it's a company that matters in the country."

Ever since she met him, his only concern had been about the Richardson Group, and not even about his own company.

Jason took a sip of red wine before replying, "The CEO of Gates Group, Eloise Gates, is my ex-wife. We just got divorced today and she is about to marry Lloyd."

Lisa froze, her wine glass hovering in mid-air. "I had no idea you were married," She muttered.

She had heard a lot about the President of Winston Group, but nothing about him being engaged, not to talk of being married.

With a frown, Lisa added, "Eloise is foolish for leaving you to marry someone like Lloyd."

But Jason didn't say a word to her

Curious, she asked, "So, what are you planning to do now?"

Jason chuckled softly. " I think it will be a good idea to bring this document to their wedding," He said, a menacing smile on his face.

Lisa stood up and walked over to Jason.

She placed her hand on his shoulder and gently caressed it.

"Are you thinking about using this method to win back your ex-wife?" she asked softly, her eyes searching his for a reaction.

Jason let out a light chuckle.

He removed her hand from his shoulder.

"You’re drunk, Lisa," he replied lightly, but in a firm tone.

He then stood up and headed back for his room, holding the document in his hand.

Feeling a bit lost, Lisa watched from behind as he walked away, realizing her actions had crossed the boundaries of her role as a subordinate.

She glanced at her reflection in the mirror, noting how sexy and capable she looked, yet Jason refused to pay any attention to her advances.

She let out a sigh.

All of a sudden her phone rang.

She reached out to it on the table. Her secretary was calling.

"Hello, Ma'am," Her secretary greeted. "I have information to report," She added.

"What's that?" Lisa asked curiously.

"We just found out about some tax and financial issues relating to the Richardson Group," Her secretary explained. "It turns out the company has been evading taxes for years."

The corners of Lisa's lips arched in a smile.

"That's good, Danielle," She said. "Arrange for the head of taxation and also our auditors to come to the office first thing tomorrow morning. Got it?" She instructed.

"Yes, Ma'am, I understand," The secretary replied.

Lisa ended the call.

She walked towards Jason's room to immediately tell him the news.

She wasn't sure if he was upset at her. But with this information, he would let go of what happened earlier.

When she got to the door, she knocked on it, but no answer came.

She thought he was ignoring her.

Feeling hurt, she was about to walk away when she heard the door open.

She turned back to find Jason standing at the doorway with his shirt off, water dripping down his bare chest.
