CH043: Crossing The Rubicon

"Mhm!"

Jed groaned as he held on tightly. While the lady was talking, he already anticipated her next move from the resolute look on her face.

So he inched closer to where she was, slowly while she was lost explaining. As soon as she let go, he reached forward and held her hand, almost falling off the bridge rail himself.

"Oh no!" The crowd yelped in fear but some sensible men quickly rushed out of the crowd and held both of his legs so he wouldn't fall off himself.

"Ow," he groaned again. His hands and legs hurt badly. The lady had her eyes closed before but when she didn't hear the sound of water splashing as she fell that she expected to hear, she opened her beautiful eyes.

The first thing that came to view was Jed's pained but refined facial features.

"Don't worry. I won't let go," His words struck a chord and her eyes stung with tears.

Wah! Wah! Wah!

Sounds of sirens soon circulated the area as the cops and the firefighters arrived at the same time.
