Chapter 14

Justin took a sip of his coffee and smiled his thanks to the cook who returned it with a nod and went back to the kitchen. He hadn't exactly gotten close to his staff but at least now he knew their names and a little about their families.

He was having fun living the life he currently was living. He opened his phone and propped it on its holder, tuning it to his recent favorite show, the Romanos family. It was amazing the level of privacy one could intrude in just because they had money.

Benson entered the dining room, dangling a key. “I have to go and meet one of our directors. I'll come and meet you later at work.”

“Sure.” Justin waved and smiled when he had closed the door. Since he started his quest for revenge, Benson had assumed the role of nursemaid and bodyguard whenever he was in the restaurant, which had reopened after the disaster.

He turned his attention back to his phone. He was getting feedback from the Romanos in real time. Cameras had been planted in their houses and cars by people that had been maltreated and still trusted. He didn't see how that combination could make sense but thankfully, that had been one of their many mistakes in their illegal games. It was surprisingly fun messing with Tyler especially and he had taken great joy in it the last few days but today's session was going to be shorter than usual since he had to get to the test before heading for the company.

******************************

Tyler entered the car and slammed the door, not his first since those texts had started. He had lost count of the things he had slammed and broken. It had been a week since the first message had been sent but there was still no sign of whoever it was. Whoever the bastard was had obviously covered his tracks, there was no signal or location track. It felt like the texts were coming from another world and he hated to admit it but that made him terrified as heck.

The car stopped suddenly and Tyler took a deep breath. He was going to kill someone. He put off the soundproof option and growled at the idiot who had been driving him. “What's the problem?”

The reason became clear to him when the door opener and his sister entered the car. “Drive.” She ordered and turned on the soundproof option.

“What is it?” Tyler asked, voice shaking with fury.

Rosetta turned to him and showed him her phone, it was her picture that stared back at him.

He clenched his fingers into fists, she had stopped him for that? “What the fuck is wrong with you?”

Rosetta glared at him. “I received this text a few minutes ago when I was in the house. Are you still getting those texts?”

Justin looked at the picture again, his face palming when he realized it was the same outfit she was wearing. The bastard was watching them. Could he see them now? “The same number texted you this?” He asked, fear changing to rage.

Rosetta nodded and Tyler looked down at his phone. Sure enough, a message had been sent to him. “Tik tok. Just looking for ways to keep you on your feet. Have a nice day ahead.”

Tyler gripped his phone hard and grabbed Rosetta’s arms. “Does Malakai know about this? Have you told him anything?”

Rosetta cried out both in pain and shock. “You're hurting me.” She started struggling against him when his grip turned tighter.

“Answer me. Have you told him anything?”

Rosetta shook her head. “No. I've not told him anything. I'm not stupid you know?”

Justin released her with a harsh breath. “Keep it that way. I don't know what the bastard is planning but I'm going to make him regret this stunt. In the meantime, keep your mouth shut and be a good fiancee. We need the Armstrong's on our side, understood?”

She nodded and pulled away from him, holding her rapidly reddening arm. He turned off the soundproof. “Stop the car.”

His driver stopped and he opened the door and pushed his sister out. “Call Armstrong to pick you up. It's time you actually start contributing to this household.” He closed the door on Rosetta's confused face and his driver drove off.

Tyler entered the office without knocking and Cyril looked up and panicked. “What happened? Has anything come out on the news?” He started shuffling around for his phone.

Tyler swowled in disgust, what a wuss. “No. Nothing has come out and nothing will.”

Cyril slumped back into his seat. “Thank goodness, I got scared for a minute. What are you doing here then?”

Tyler eyed his father disdainfully, “Does now seem like the best time to ask me that question? Are you trying to lose everything we've worked out for? Everything I've worked out for?”

Cyril stood up in fear. Since the threatening texts had started, Tyler had turned to someone different. Sure, this taste had always been on the darker side, which was one of the biggest reasons their side business had prospered so much, but he was beginning to terrify him now.

“No. You said you were on it. You told me not to do anything.” Cyril protested.

Tyler moved closer to him, his fury obvious in his eyes. “I meant don't do anything physical like respond to the bastard. Am I the only one getting affected here?”

Cyril sat down in fear. “Yeah. I'm at fault but the last thing we should do is fight, son. We have to defend them, we have to work together.”

Tyler realized his father was right and took a deep breath. Fighting wasn't going to solve anything. “Alright.” He sat down on one of the available chairs. “I hired a private investigator to find some hints on the person but nothing is coming up.” He stood up and started pacing. “This means the bastard is using a stronger security than we are used to. Let's go through the list of people who will likely do this.”

Cyril nodded, “That sounds like a good idea. We should also talk to our employees. It won't be too far to assume we have rats in our midst that are giving information out about us.”

Tyler and Cyril entered the secondary account department. They had decided to start with the finance and account and Tyler was going to make anybody he found guilty regret it all their lives.

Nora looked up and stood up when she sighted Tyler and Cyril Romano. She had lied to her siblings about quitting. How could they expect her to get so invested and leave right before the fun started.

She and her team members stood up. Their team leader, a man in his forties who sucked up to anybody that looked like they had more money than he did rushed to them. “Good afternoon. Mr. Romano. How may we help you?”

Nora hid a smirk when they ignored him and started looking around. Looking at their tables and their faces. It was very obvious what was happening, they had gotten scared and were checking to see if any of their employees were involved in their situation. If only they knew.

“Is there a problem Sir?” The team leader asked, confused. This was the first time either of the bosses entered their department and were silent. Oftentimes, they entered to berate or assault somebody. Depending on the day.

Tyler turned and glared at him. “Mr. Austin.” He looked at his name tag. “Don't piss me off. Just shut up and go back to your table.”

Nora could feel the tenseness in the air but she felt very fine. Either way, they were never going to know who she was. Her thoughts were interrupted when Tyler came to stand in front of her, eyes on her chest. “You, what's your name?”

She had thought too fast. She wiped her rapidly sweaty fingers on her skirt. “Nora Sir.”

“Nora what?”

The name came out her mouth before she could think to change it. “Nora Anderson.” Justin also bore the same.
