Chapter 12 – The Art Of Creation (ii)

Leo’s eyes flickered open and he felt amazed seeing a shadowy and formless creature hovering above his palms.

“You see! I always trust in your abilities.” Bel freaked out and he jumped restlessly around the lair.

Leo’s emotion, however, turned 360 degrees as he suddenly looked unpleased with the entity before his, “This thing looks… dumb. It’s shapeless, and it looks like a clumsy dark cloud…”

“Stop your critics, Leo! This look amazing.”

Leo nodded in discontent as he looked vexed the more he stared into the creature’s eyes. He quickly disregarded Bel’s words and the floating creature vanished into thin air.

“How? By the way, it looks too much like the Darr shadow we fought. I’m not appealed at all!” He complained like a spoilt brat and he stood from the ground looking more furious than a hungry leopard.

“That’s why you are still exploring the ability. Did you really expect your first attempt to be crystal perfect?” Bel did not bother the contain the mocking laughter that erupted from his lips after some seconds.

“Stop it! Your laugh is embarrassing.”

Bel finally subdued his laughter and immediately replaced it with a deadly serious one, “Why don’t we go to our former training spot.”

He asked and Leo nodded with approval. While Leo transformed into his shadowy appearance that could fly in air, Bel transformed into his natural form, but now in a very smaller size, before zooming out of the lair.

***

Leo and Bel landed on a plain landscape, present of short moss grass and few flowers that sprouted out of the pale ground.

“So you should remember your long-term training posture.” Bel did not hesitate to say a word once he landed. Leo on the other hand, sat on the lotus position, his eyes wide open to view the muscular figure before him.

A toned and lecturing voice summoned from Bel’s lips as he began to explain while walking to and fro around Leo, “As I said before, you only have to make a comb…”

“Bel… please, seize the lecturing voice and speak normally!” Leo rolled his eyes and once again returned his gaze to the humanoid figure.

Bel could only shrug and he briefly continued his statement, “A combination of the creatures you’ve created before. You only have to mix the part of a creature with that of another, until it eventually suits your taste.”

“Okay!”

“What do you mean by, okay!”

“You keep talking like it’s easy when even you know it’s not,” Leo complained with an odd voice, ignoring the piercing stare that shot from Bel’s frowning eyes.

He closed his eyes before Bel should say a word, and the surrounding remained silent thereafter.

Similar to the last time he tried to create a beast, over an hour quickly crossed over, yet he remained static to the ground.

Bel in return had the continuous urge to rip Leo’s head apart as he deemed the long wait to be a handiwork of his laziness.

Fortunately, after a few seconds, his palms illuminated a glow and an unknown beast, the size of a mighty elephant hovered mid-air. As quick as a microsecond, even before Bel could react, the beast shattered into invincible dust, and a new entity replaced it immediately.

The scene repeated itself for a couple of minutes later until Bel jerked Leo out of his wild imagination with an abrupt slap on his palms.

“Ahhh!” Leo exclaimed as he jerked awake and he turned to Bel who had an angry expression, “What.. What happened?”

“Nothing… except the fact that I stood here for over.. Heaven knows when, for you to perform that chaos!”

“What did I do?” Leo looked oblivious to his actions, “Did I create something bad..”

Bel looked amazed and exhausted at the same time, while he scanned the innocent look coating Leo’s face.

“It is just that… you kept replacing the entities with a new one within a short time!”

“OH… sorry! I didn’t know. But I’ll just bring one of them.” Before he could even finish his statement, a monstrous-sized beast appeared mid-air.

“No long-time meditations?”

“No… because I’ve created it before!” The confused expression on Bel’s face subsided and he turned his gaze to the creature before him.

The four-legged beast had furry and colorful skin that suited its massive size that could be compared to an overgrown elephant. Its wide, falling ear looked appealing as it created a more cuter look on the round head that habituated a pair of big round eyes, an unusually small pouted mouth, and a normal nose that hid under the bag of furry skin.

“It’s beautiful..” Bel looked like he was going to die out of admiration for the creature, “But… but the colors.”

“I think it’s another handiwork of my undying imagination!”

“And another thing… any idea of its ability?”

Leo heaved a gentle sigh and nodded in disapproval.

“Yikes! I relied on the item for texturing, but now it already has one.”

Leo remained silent while staring at the creature, and like a telepathic conversation, the creature began to spin clockwise, creating a small tornado that grew larger the faster it spun.

The creature stopped spinning the tornado grew into an accountable size.

“It has many more, so I guess it’s from the conjoined parts.”

Bel looked pleased and he walked closer to the creature that stood gallantly on the ground. When he got close enough, he patted its fat legs with a satisfied smile.

“Spray it with moss, and maybe it will gain an extra ability?”

Leo nodded and picked a handful of fresh green moss from the ground before spraying it onto the body of the beast, even though it ranged into a little part of the body.

The creature in return gave a growl as its furry color darkened into a green hue. It entirely transformed into a green moss and it fell pale to the ground before raising into its normal color and shape some minutes later.

After a few more wonderful performances from the creature, Bel backed away with his expression looking pleased to the core.

“Perhaps, I think you’ve found a better way to terrorize the village.”
