Chapter 19 - Touch Not Thy Family

Nonius buzzed with crowd upon crowds of people wandering around the streets. It was the big day, Thomas's newborn' ceremony, and so, all the six villages of Nonius, including Nonius had to be present.

"Clear the way for the royal majesty, and his loyal guards!" A voice suddenly erupted in the crowdy lane and the villagers immediately gave a wide path meant to be crossed through by the announced officials.

Six fine horses walked into the path within a few minute and all the individuals, no matter his or her status bent on their knees to honor the blissful presence. The high ranked individuals smiled with satisfaction of the villagers' action and kept the slow pace of the horse.

Only a few minutes after the king and the other five elders were out of sight before the villagers rose on their feet.

"They are heading to our elder Thomas's house, this event will be amazing!"

"The king look more handsome than ever."

A couple more whispering here and there mads the surrounding noisy as they returned to their various post of decorating the streets or rather running other random errands.

----

The king’s horse and that of the elders arrived at Thomas's cheerful abode, where he, Thomas stood in front of the house door post as he had been anxiously waiting for the arrival.

"My king! You are utmostly welcome!" He looked blissed seeing the king along the elders, as they jumped down from their horses and began pacing towards him.

The king specifically from the other elders, had a wide smile as his hazel brown eyes could not just stop glittering with excitement, "Ha! I know we can't see the newborn until his blessings, but at least, can..."

"Of course, my king, you and my fellow elders are highly welcome to rest in the sitting room." Before the king could even complete his statement, Thomas's voice came, answering the incomplete question.

He, the king had a tight smile and immediately opened the oak brown door, even without the sole permission from Thomas. And even at that, Thomas would never pike the slightest offense.

Once the king stepped into the lightened and huge room, the other elders began to match in slowly until it was only Thomas and a dark-skinned outside.

"Andrew! I don't know how to express this feeling!" Thomas said the words like he was trying to stop himself from screaming with over-excitement.

The man on the other hand, who looked like Thomas's age-mate, or rather older with a year or two, had a light chuckle while he stared at him.

"I think you now know how I felt during my baby ceremony, and by the way, what is his name?"

"I was thinking Frederick, buy my wife said Asta!"

Andrew's lips cooed upon hearing the tough name. But then he shrugged within a few seconds, "Your wife wins this one then, Asta Raynard it is!"

"You'd always have a bad taste..."

When Thomas was about to muster another word, the king’s voice crashed into their ears, "Thomas! Andrew! Don't keep us waiting."

The two friends giggled and hurried into the sitting room where the king and the elders had already settled, each holding a goblet that had been bottom-filled with red wine.

"I think your wife is feeding the newborn, ehn!"

"He must be strong for the ceremony!"

The leaders laughed as they sipped their wine, while the king stared in amazement.

"We, me and the elders now know you're not just a man in appearance, but also a man, down there!" The king pointed at the organ underneath Thomas's robe.

A look of embarrassment masked Thomas's face as he felt harrased by the words of the king. He looked for a vacant couch in the room, and when he'd luckily found one, he did not hesitate to sit on it.

"No reply from the latter, ehn!" Gregor sipped a mouthful of wine and then turned to Thomas who had a shy look, "I never knew his busy body will eventually calm down, what's that shy look for Thomas? Tell us how you and your wife did it, and maybe Adam's wife will beat monopause."

An old man sitting beside Gregor spat out his wine immediately after hearing the direct insult from Gregor and he turned red with anger as he glared at the lad who had successfully cracked a joke that made everyone, except the old man burst into laughter.

Gregor continued, "Get a concubine, and you'll say, no!"

The room burst into laughter once again, and Adam could only stare at Gregor with killing intent.

"Okay enough! But Thomas," The king paused on his statement, and gave a cold gaze to the two maids behind the sofa, as the laughed to matter that did not concern them, "Thomas, such tricks might work on our girlfriend, after all, our waist are still agile, just in case of necessity!"

The elders gave a coo sound as their eyes keened at Thomas who was lost of words.

"Ehm... I.. I think it was normal?"

"And are you asking us?" Andrew's eyes widened and the room once again turned into a hall for laughing maniacs.

Thomas had immediately realized his pattern of speech and his cheek turned red, mainly due to embarrassment, "No... No, there was also a little bit of saliva..."

"Spit?" The king interrupted as he drew his buttock to the edge of the sofa, his ears wide opened to Thomas's next words.

"... Yes, yes spit... We al..so used a... a.."

Luckily, just before Thomas could complete his statement, the door to the room flung open and a guard barged in, his facial expression looking terrified.

"Sire! Elders, there is a monster attacking the village, it has a... a human-like companion!"

Thomas turned as pale as a ghost, and his gaze swept across the room until it eventually stopped on the curious look on the king’s face, "Sire! It's the man who claims to be my late brother!"

The lane of Nonius looked bloodied than ever as litters of corpse swept the ground. The chaos in the scene even worsened when some of the villagers with any abilities tried to defend themselves against a tall and humanoid entity, the Blackest Blue, that recklessly brutalized the individuals.

The king and his elders appeared into the scene out of thin air, and they looked utmostly shocked at the appearance of the unknown entity that did not hesitate to rip the villagers apart.

"Is this what have been going on in my village?" The king thundered at Thomas who looked pained as he watched his villagers, including his proclaimed visitors die miserably.

The Blackest Blue on the other side, paused and turned his deadly stare to the source of the loud voice, being the king whose face did not reveal the slightest feeling of fear.

A devilish frown, however, appeared on the face of the creature, and as the speed of light, it appeared in front of the King and abruptly threw him backward, with its claws almost ripping off his robes.

The elders, all except Thomas ran towards the king, leaving Thomas all alone as he looked too terrified to move a muscle.

"You! Thomas!" The Blackest Blue growled and lifted its claws in front of Thomas, and was ready to dig them into the exposed flesh of his face. But when it was just an inch from touching Thomas's face, a voice boomed into the surrounding, and the beast's claws hooked mid-air.

"Is said, touch not thy family! Attack every body else!"

The Blackest Blue backed away from Thomas's frozen body with a gaze flooded with bloodlust. It turned to Leo's shadowy figure and bent its head.

Thomas had also turned to get a glance of the being who had commanded the creature, and when it jammed on the shadowy figure, his eyes widened with shock and began to pour out its tears.

Leo did not just stand all alone, he had a being in his arms... a baby, not just any baby, but Thomas's newborn whose ceremony had been interrupted.
