Chapter 6

~Unit 5, cellblock~

The first floor of the cell blocks was left to the OG's. The respected and notorious inmates took over the first floor while the inmates with no rank, the peasants were left to crowd below.

In the most luxurious room Chun Li's name was taped in front of the door. Chun Li sat on his mighty chair reading the newspaper while his follower dyed his hair red. The room has a big sized mattress, a wooden desk and chair, also the floor was tiled unlike the other inmates that had to lay on the unpolished concrete cold floor.

It also has a private toilet and bathroom.

The room was not really luxurious, but for a place like Chicago Prison, you can say it is a rich and comfortable room.

Chun Li's jaw flexed as he read the newspaper in his hand. It was not really a newspaper. It's a medium his agent uses for passing or exchanging messages with him. The guards deliver the newspaper to him once in a month and they never bother themselves to scrutinize it because it comes in bundles and moreover whoever bothers themselves to inspect it will only waste a time of their life because only Chun Li and his agent understands this method.

He suddenly dropped it and picked another one, and when he flipped the page a picture slipped from it and fell to the floor. One of his followers rushed forward and picked it up, wiped the picture on his pants before handing it over to Chun Li who only raised his eyebrow when he saw the person in the picture.

It was none other than their new inmate, Lewis Baker.

“What son of a mongrel does it? Who the hell puts a fucking picture in the newspaper?”

His jaw ticked and his eyebrows narrowed together. He was not angry because of the person in the picture but the picture itself. If the guards had checked the newspaper before passing it to him, his little life-saving business would go down the pan. No doubt that the guards would work day and night to make out their code of messaging.

He flung the newspaper to the other side of the room and it fell on one of his follower's shoes.

“Tell Darkrow to go through these papers before he delivers them down here, this mistake could have exposed us and what do we fucking tell them!” he glared at his followers who remained stagnant in their positions.

“Yes, boss.” they chorused.

Chun Li scoffed irritatedly before moving his eyes back to the remaining newspaper.

“Boss, you might want to see this?” one of his followers said.

“What?” Chun Li barked.

The one that the newspaper fell on his shoes came forward and opened the page.

“They are offering one-fifty for this job,” the guy with a durag on his head said after reading the message in the newspaper.

Chun Li bathed his eyelashes and his lips quivered but he recovered and recomposed himself immediately.

How the hell was his follower able to read this secret message? No matter how much trust he gives to his followers, one thing was for sure, when it comes to his business here, only two people know how to decode the messages in the newspaper, which was his agent and him.

His followers help to execute their mission but he never for once teach them how to read the newspaper, so how did this fool comprehend the hidden message?

He scoffed and stood on his feet.

“Let me see that,” he demanded and the newspaper was given to him.

Chun Li walked around before stopping behind the guy who was able to read the message. He glared daggers at him as anger boiled in his blood. Before the guy could get a look over his shoulder, Chun Li plugged out his small dagger and stabbed his follower behind the chest.

The guy's eye turned wide and blood poured from his mouth. His other followers gasped out of shock and quickly recomposed their expressions.

“You were a good follower, Chudi,” he whispered and pushed the dagger deeper until Chudi stopped gagging and his eyes turned lifeless.

Chun Li withdrew the dagger before Chudi fell lifeless on the floor with a thud. The guy was one of his most trusted followers but in his own way, he does not spare anyone who finds out his code of business.

“Take his body away,” Chun Li ordered.

The atmosphere had turned gloomy and even though the followers had a different expression lingering on their faces, inside they didn't feel okay witnessing one of their own die helplessly before them. They knew not to mess with Chun Li but this could have been any of them.

Chun Li paused and turned towards them when none of them made a move to pick the body.

“Have y'all gone deaf?! I said take this fucking body away right now!” he barked and pointed the dagger towards them, his voice vibrated in the walls of the room sending his followers running to the body with dread.

One birdbrain follower had lost his mind and ran up to Chun Li, panting.

“Boss, where do we dispose of his body?” he asked.

Chun Li scoffed before drawing close to the poor boy, he yanked the boy's hair up so that his neck was facing him. Then he used the blood stained dagger and started running the sharp tip on the column of the boy's neck, drawing fresh blood from the boy.

The boy who had just joined his gang two days ago thought that by asking this question he was only doing his job as a follower not knowing that the question had irritated their boss.

The other followers inwardly prayed for the nerd looking guy.

“You don't know what they do with dead bodies?” Chun Li asked, gritting his teeth, trying to hold back the rage building up inside him.

The boy quivered in fear, he shook his head as sweat trickled down his forehead.

“Fine, you will find out after your body will be the next thing to be carried away,” Chun Li threatened.

The boy's eyes turned wider as fear clouded his vision. He was pissing hot in his pants as the dagger cut more flesh on his neck.

One of the followers saw that Chun Li was adamant on killing this guy, he had to voice out.

“Boss, he is an amateur. He signed in the day before yesterday!” the follower voiced out.

The boy nodded frantically and Chun Li dropped his hand before pushing the boy away. He picked a piece of cloth on the couch before wiping the dagger.

“Get me that newspaper,” he demanded and it was brought to him. Chun Li gave it a quick thought before proceeding to address his followers.

“We have not had a job that pays well like this for a while. Call them in, we are taking the job!” he growled and the other responded with a cheer.

He gets tons of job offers monthly, which does not mean he agrees to all of them. But if a client wants to secure a better position then the pay must be friendly. The higher the money, the higher the possibility of them taking on the job.

So his eyes narrowed on the picture lying on the floor, an evil smirk tugged on his lips as he thought of all the harmful things he would do to Lewis, he couldn't lwait to get this deal.

The punk rocker boy exhaled heavily when he saw that the attention was not on him any more. He did the sign of the cross as a relief.

However, he could not wait to tell his new cellie that his picture was lying in the devil's den.
