Going to the office at dawn with a cup of coffee and a sandwich, Michael Durkheim looked at his exhausted face in the glass door, sighing in silence. He had gone through another sleepless night. All thanks to Ernest’s note, which wasn't even a manuscript in theory, but still caused a lot of confusion.Though Michael didn't gain any success, thirty years of working in the film industry had taught him what a real manuscript looked like, at least.Putting all the professional stuff like logline, outline, etc, aside, a film manuscript should have screenplays with dialogue descriptions, character names, and such things. They were the most basic things, and nobody would write just five sentences about “blind male lead”, “dumb female lead”, “the male lead wants to be a singer and the female lead helps him”!!!Sound childish? No, more than just a stupid note, it was totally a shame, especially when Michael thought that it was Ernest Eswaranski who had given him that note. After receiving the
For a moment, Kelvin, as well as Frankie and Michael forgot what they were doing. They couldn't help but stare at Ernest getting out of the car while a big guy holding the umbrella just next to him. When Ernest left the car, another guy closed the door, then bent his head a bit and whispered something in Ernest's ears. A woman also showed up, following right after Ernest. She wore office outfits, holding a small office bag with her left hand. Her right hand was holding a phone and she was still talking with someone, but the long distance just let them hear a few words like ‘young master’, and ‘a meeting this afternoon’. Everything was just similar to both Michael and Kelvin, because they had witnessed, more than once, how young heirs coming from wealthy clans were treated. Some of those young ladies and gentlemen even brought the whole team of tens of people with them for work, which was much bigger than Ernest. And in theory, Michael and Kelvin shouldn't have been surprised.
Frankie wasn't someone that could be easily scolded. Not mentioning her work experience, her appearance, which was just similar to the witch in children’s fairy tales, was enough for her to threaten the other adults. And of course, she had actually done that for years.Frankie looked up at Ernest, and her gaunt cheeks were sharp as knives piercing through Ernest’s confidence. Then she raised her hand, pointing at Ernest.“Is that your attitude towards an adult, youngster, huh? Since when did you take the right to question me about my professional field?”“At least I have been working in the film industry for a decade, and you're just a kid going to school everyday then!”“Just take your money back, return to your school, and leave us alone, kid! This is not your playground!”But Ernest just smiled.Ernest had spent all his eighteen years of life being scared of those people, because you could never win them in an argument even if you did nothing wrong. And if you were lucky enough to
Not waiting for Ernest to say a word, the woman who had asked Frankie pointed at him with a loud voice.“Hey youngster, why do you force Frankie to leave this film crew? She needs money to raise her kid, and this is not the place where you can play around with your money!”The other people agreed with her. They nodded, glancing at him in such a cringey way that Ernest had to step backwards. Why did they look at him this way?He was just the investor of this film project but they stared at him as if he was the bastard who had abandoned Frankie and her kid.Another middle-aged woman pointed at him.“Don't fool us! We only trust what we see! Frankie has worked there for years, and she is not someone who will tell a lie!”“There is no reason for her to do so! It's you who has forced her to leave while she has an entire family to raise!”An old man glanced at Ernest with a complicated look. “She is just working to make ends meet, kid. You can't just fire her because she is unable to do wha
Ernest's words had stopped all Dean's effort. Dean looked at his new master who had just taken control of the Silver Skull Gang for less than twelve hours, and undeniably, he couldn't say a word.Ernest was right. If Dean had agreed that Ernest was his young master, then he should believe in Ernest's capability instead of telling him to leave.“My apologies.” As Dean bent his head and stepped backwards, Ernest came closer to Frankie and her friends.Frankie looked at Ernest’s emotionless eyes, and she suddenly slid back to hide herself behind her friend for no reason. She didn't know why, but her instinct had started warning her about a danger that she had to avoid.“What do you want to do?” She shouted with a trembling voice. “You can't beat me in public! Everyone is recording everything you do now! You'll be arrested!”Frankie's face turned pale. She was drowned in her own fear, but in the others’ eyes, it's the terror of a poor woman towards a devilish employer. Some women immedia
Immediately, the people who were recording the scene turned their phones to Frankie. The woman was about to say something, but the furious people out there were faster. The teenager who had just defended Frankie now became the loudest person. He pointed at Frankie's pale face. “Can't believe that you're so cruel! You take advantage of our kindness!”The people who had blamed Ernest now turned to accuse Frankie. They shouted.“Yes! How can you fool us this way? And you're not even a single mother, right?”“You deserve all these things, liar!”“That man had already announced his plan, and you can leave once you find it inappropriate! But you didn't! You lied to all of us! If I were that man, I would definitely fire you!”“Why do you all trust him?” Frankie shouted back. “He is just a liar! He didn't come with a clear purpose, nor respect to any of us! He wanted to hurt me!”But this time the crowd didn't trust her anymore. They whispered, pointing at her, and even a student smirked.“Co
As the debate was going on in the front of Michael's studio, an old man was walking slowly in confusion. He was lost.Of course, the man was not too old and weak to forget the right way to his destination, as he could walk fast despite his white hair.He had just forgot to recharge his phone after a long night of scolding his student on phone. His student, a talented student of the National Film Academy whom he had been proud for years, now became his headache. For God's sake, he couldn't help but scolding his student, because that kid had refused such a great film project and joined another unknown crew!Dammit! The fire of anger had engulfed his wisdom, and now he had to ask for help from a passer-by to find his stupid student.“Excuse me! Do you mind telling me how to get to the Durkheim Studio?”The woman was holding her phone and watching something. She looked up at the man, pointing at the crowd not so far from them. “See that crowd? That's the Durkheim Studio.”The man raised h
Impossible!”Before everyone could analyze Ernest's words, Dylan had shouted. The noble alumnus pointed at Ernest with a terrified expression, like an Italian seeing a piece of avocado thrown into spaghetti, or a British seeing their tea made in the way of traditional Chinese medicine. His eyes were brimming with bewilderment. His finger pointing at Ernest was trembling, and it took Dylan three seconds to get his voice.“It's impossible! How could you offend me with such a silly idea? How could a note with just five sentences teach us?”“It's not even a good film manuscript, and now you're boasting that you're gonna teach with that note?”Behind Dylan, the crowd began to be upset. They looked at Ernest with disdain, and some even shouted.“Yeah. It's impossible. This guy must be crazy!”“Go home and sleep, man! You're daydreaming a bit too much!”Now even the old man couldn't stand there and watch this idiotic argument anymore. He didn't understand why everyone gathered just to see a
