Winston attacked Arran with his spear which Arran parried and was about to counterattack but unexpectedly, because of the excess amount of power behind the spear attack, Arran was not able to fully withstand the attack and he had to retreat which ended with him being sent flying into the air.
This was followed up with another attack with Arran, one that did not give Arran any space to dodge especially since he was up in the air without any means to leverage on and avoid the attack. The only thing that Arran could do was put up a hasty defense by crossing his sword before him and hope that he was strong enough to withstand this blow... but that seemed unlikely.
