But while the Wellingtons were effective in dealing with the flesh wall, they couldn’t take care of all of it because it was really too long. The flesh wall was already as huge as several districts in a large metropolitan city like New York making it too large for any one of them to handle alone. If not that the flesh wall was very weak and vulnerable to their attacks much unlike the nigh-invulnerable horror, it would’ve been a much greater threat to the Aeth than the horror was. So although the Wellington trio managed to deal with a large portion of the flesh wall, a greater portion of it managed to slip through the other side to rush toward the horror. But before it could get to the horror, the flesh wall was blocked by Sable who stayed close to Arran’s battle zone to gate-keep the area.Seeing the flesh wall — at this point it was less like a wall and more like a mound — after seeing the flesh mound rushing toward him, Sable stood steadfast and blocked their path. In front of him,
While everybody fought their own battles, Arran focused on dealing with the decadent horror sparing only a bit of his senses to observe their progress. When he saw that everybody had things under control and wouldn’t allow the mound of flesh-skin to approach the horror any time soon, Arran renewed his efforts to finish off the decadent horror now that it was weak.[Shattered Meteor: Eightfold Slash!]Once again, Arran executed another eightfold slash of Shattered Meteor on the decadent horror slicing its countless body parts into even more tiny fragments. Not a single part of the horror remained intact after the full onslaught of Arran’s attacks. But it has taken many attacks using Shattered Meteor to achieve the current effect which has taken some time. It would have taken less time if Arran could execute more slashes using Shattered Meteor but the current limit of the number of slashes Arran could perform was eightfold.Still, with the help of [Sever], arran saved a lot of time. Sti
As the light appeared on the battlefield, it left just as suddenly and quickly leaving only a few stunned Aeth watching everything in awe. Finally, they recovered their senses and everybody immediately looked at the center where the light had originated from. There, they witnessed the figure of Arran looking ever-dashing and handsome. After taking some time to take in Arran’s handsome visage, the others quickly shifted their gaze somewhere else. This was where the shredded pieces of the horror’s body had been previously. And indeed, there it was in the same position as if it had never moved at all.But something was different about the horror that everybody was now seeing. It appeared… lifeless. That was it, the body of the horror appeared deprived of all signs of life and vitality — looking like a piece of statue — like it had been dead for a very one time. This was the best way to describe the horror. Currently, it was left with only its head and a part of its torso. One of its arms
“Is it over?”After the shock died down, the others came to their senses and finally, went over to Arran’s side asking if the battle was finally over. But just as Arran was about to answer, his eyes widened in disbelief as alarm bells started blaring inside his head once again.“No it’s not… watch out!”Arran only had enough time to call out in haste before turning around with his scythe swinging, aiming in one direction. But it was already too late.Just as Arran called out and took action, a blur of motion zipped past his eyes shooting toward the corpse of the decadent horror, reaching it instantly. The others were also alarmed as they noticed too late that something had moved past them without their notice. If not for Arran’s warning, they might not have even noticed it until it was too late.Fortunately, they weren’t the targets if not no one knew what would happened if they had been ambushed. The others felt bad, but none felt as bad as Arran did currently.Damn it!“What the hel
“Big brother, I have something to tell you.”“Hmmm! What is it, Veil?” Arran quickly responded mentally.“About that bad guy, I felt something off when it hit him with my ability,” Veil said. She continued, “That bad guy, I don’t think it had a soul.”As soon as Arran heard Veil’s words, he was immediately shocked. No soul… impossible! No living being in this world could exist without a soul. It was an ironclad rule of life. Even the undead possessed souls, being pure creatures made out of souls that have crossed the threshold of life and been baptized by death. So how could a living creature not have a soul?“Veil, what are you talking about? How could that creature not have a soul? Did you sense it wrong?”“No, I can’t be wrong,” Veil refuted.“I’m sure I sensed currently. But instead of saying it doesn’t have a soul, I think it’s more accurate to say that its soul isn’t complete.”“What does that mean?” Arran asked growing even more confused.Veil explained, “A major part of that c
Arran finally figured out the key to winning this battle with this discovery. It was straightforward, since the horror was basically an unkillable Lich, instead of insisting on killing it, they should just focus on sealing it away so it wouldn’t cause any trouble again. There, problem solved…In hindsight, the solution seemed so simple that it was funny why none of the Aeth had thought about it. They’d all been so focused on killing the horror that they hadn’t considered other options to handle the situation causing them to effectively fall into a rut. Yet things were only simple in retrospect but the actual situation was far from that.Nobody could blame the seven young Aeth to only consider killing their enemy instead of looking for other options. After all, in their view, their enemy while being troublesome was just that — troublesome — and although it was also powerful, it wasn’t overwhelmingly. Each of them was able to go blow for blow against the decadent horror with its main an
The second person who could perform a big and powerful attack was Bernard. As long as he unlocked his second seal, Bernard would definitely be able to one-shot the horror. Even if it could revive it was impossible for it to do so immediately which would give Sable enough time to seal the horror. But the problem with this was equally as obvious. One, Bernard was still unconscious from his previous attempt to unlock his second seal which was interrupted. Secondly, unlocking the second seal would effectively kill Bernard so it was not a reliable option in any given case.Lastly, Arran would also be able to do what was required with his own method even being the most reliable of the three. One use of [Death Bringer] would be enough to do the job but the only problem is that the conditions had to be met first before it could be used and there was no way to meet those conditions right now. With all these options being unavailable, what could they do now?It seems like the only option left w
The seriousness in Arran’s voice was evident as well as his clear aversion to using the ability in question. Sensing this, Joyner and the others wondered what the ability Arran mentioned could be.“When you say there will be consequences, what exactly are we talking about here?”Instead of answering in detail, Arran simply raised his arm which immediately shimmered with a milky radiance before revealing two bracelets worn on his wrists. As soon as the others saw those bracelets, they all immediately came to the same realization. At once, everybody knew what Arran was referring to.The World Essence Pulse Bracers… one of the seven ultimate artifacts of the Aeth civilization. If it was it then indeed it was possible to unleash a powerfully devastating attack that could one-shot the decadent horror instantly. But regarding the current situation, it was indeed no small matter to use it right now in this battle. The World Essence Pulse Bracers were a pair of powerful artifacts with powerfu
