"Let me go!" shouted a wounded soldier with an arrow in his thigh, while another soldier pulled him, yelling.
"Silence!" came a firm command from a leader among the soldiers.
"Quick!" cried a desperate kobold who opened a door. Arrows started raining down as if his cry was a signal.
"Ah! I've been hit!" exclaimed one of the soldiers.
"Run!" shouted another.
With agility like a squirrel, Avtr slipped through the door and leaned against the door frame, pulling out the bow and arrows strapped to his back.
"Shoot!" he called out.
Their target was not to drive away the enemy but to protect themselves.
