The afternoon sun cast long shadows across the city as Faye ended her call with Katherine. Her mind was buzzing with conflicting thoughts about the birthday invitation and the seemingly sincere reconciliation attempt. While relief washed over her about mending their friendship, something about Katherine's eagerness to include Yemin in the party invitation struck her as odd.

Faye's fingers hovered over Yemin's contact information. She needed to hear his voice, to thank him properly for the Morgan Group contract, and perhaps to understand more about who he truly was.

"Hello?" Yemin's voice came through after two rings.

"Yemin, it's Faye. I was wondering if we could meet? I never properly thanked you for your help with Morgan Group."

There was a brief pause on the line. "I'm actually tied up at the moment," Yemin replied, his voice measured but with a hint of strain. "I'm at Chairman Hargrove's residence."

Faye nearly dropped her phone. "Chairman Hargrove? As in the head of the second-largest conglomerate in the city?"

"The very same," Yemin confirmed. "There's an emergency situation I'm helping with."

"Is everything alright?" Faye asked, her curiosity piqued.

"Not exactly. The Chairman is unwell. I need to go now, but I'll call you later."

The call ended, leaving Faye standing in her living room with more questions than answers. She paced back and forth, Katherine's words echoing in her mind.

"He's nothing but a leech who latches onto successful women and feeds off them. When they dump him, he gets bitter and calls in whatever pathetic favors he has to ruin them."

"That can't be right," Faye muttered to herself. "But why would he be at Chairman Hargrove's mansion? And why would they need him of all people?"

She recalled the way the CEO of Morgan Group had deferred to Yemin, almost as if... no, it couldn't be. Was Yemin truly as connected and powerful as he seemed, or was Katherine right about his tendency to exaggerate his importance?

"There's only one way to find out," Faye decided, grabbing her keys and purse.

At Chairman Hargrove's mansion, the tension in the sickroom was reaching a breaking point. Chairman Hargrove's son stood toe-to-toe with Yemin, his face flushed with anger.

"How dare you insinuate I don't want my father to recover!" he spat, his fists clenched at his sides.

Yemin remained unnervingly calm. "I'm simply stating facts. Your father's condition is deteriorating by the minute. Every second we waste arguing is one less second he has."

The assembled doctors shifted uncomfortably, exchanging glances. One of them, a gray-haired man with wire-rimmed glasses, cleared his throat.

"Perhaps we should give this... gentleman... a chance? The conventional treatments aren't working, and Chairman Hargrove's vitals are declining rapidly."

Chairman Hargrove's son whirled around. "You can't be serious! This vagrant probably wandered in off the street! Look at him!" He gestured wildly at Yemin's simple attire.

Yemin's gaze never wavered. "Judge me by my clothes if you wish, but your father recognized my worth years ago when I saved his life. He didn't care about appearances then, and I doubt he would now."

The right-hand man nodded vigorously. "It's true. The Chairman has complete faith in this man."

"This is absurd," Chairman Hargrove's son scoffed, but a flicker of uncertainty crossed his features as the medical monitors began beeping more urgently.

The lead doctor rushed to Chairman Hargrove's bedside. "His blood pressure is dropping dangerously. We need to do something now."

All eyes turned to Yemin, who simply stood waiting, unaffected by the chaos around him.

After a moment of agonized indecision, Chairman Hargrove's son stepped aside. "Fine. Do what you need to do. But if my father's condition worsens, I'll hold you personally responsible."

Yemin approached the bed calmly, examining Chairman Hargrove with practiced eyes. "I'll need complete silence and privacy," he stated. "And someone needs to find a striped V hood cobra. Immediately."

The bizarre request sent a ripple of shocked murmurs through the room.

"A what?" Chairman Hargrove's son spluttered. "Have you lost your mind?"

"A striped V hood cobra," Yemin repeated without emotion. "Your father was poisoned. The only antidote requires venom from that specific snake."

The accusation of poisoning fell like a bomb in the silent room. Chairman Hargrove's son's face drained of color.

"Poisoned? That's... that's impossible," he stammered.

Yemin pulled out his phone. "I know someone who can help." He dialed Faye's number.

Faye was halfway to Chairman Hargrove's mansion when her phone rang. Seeing Yemin's name, she quickly answered.

"Yemin? I was just—"

"Faye," Yemin cut in, his voice urgent but controlled. "I need your help. I need you to find a striped V hood cobra and bring it to Chairman Hargrove's mansion as quickly as possible. Can you do that?"

Faye blinked in confusion. "A what? Why would you need a—"

"It's a matter of life and death," Yemin explained. "Chairman Hargrove has been poisoned, and the antidote requires fresh venom from that specific snake."

Faye's mind raced. "I... I think I know someone at the university research center who works with venomous reptiles. I'll call him right away."

"Thank you," Yemin said, genuine relief evident in his voice. "Come as quickly as you can."

As Faye redirected her route and made frantic calls, she couldn't help but wonder what Yemin wasn't telling her. First Morgan Group, now Chairman Hargrove—just who was Yemin Ravollor really? And why did she have the strange feeling that everything she thought she knew about him and Katherine was about to be turned upside down?

The truth is always more complicated than it first appears, she thought, pressing harder on the accelerator as she sped toward the university research center, determination etched across her face.

Yemin Ravollor stood motionless in his living room, the evening sun casting long shadows across the imported marble floors of their penthouse. Spread across the mahogany coffee table, evidence of his wife's betrayal lay in stark detail – surveillance photos, hotel receipts, and a record of calls that painted an undeniable picture of infidelity.Katherine strode in, still wearing her tailored Chanel suit from the office, her Louboutin heels clicking against the floor with practiced authority. "Well, well," she drawled, regarding him with disgust, manicured fingers trailing across the photos. "So you've been crawling around gathering intel like a little roach, have you? How fitting for someone of your... position."The photos showed her entering the Grand Plaza Hotel with James Franx, her arm wrapped intimately around his waist, her smile more genuine than any she'd given Yemin in months. "I deserve an explanation, Katherine."A sharp pain twisted in Yemin’s chest, but he forced his

Katherine sighed dramatically as she strode into the penthouse, her heels clicking against the marble floor. The divorce was finalized, Yemin was gone, and now all that remained was to erase his presence from her life entirely."Get rid of all this junk," she ordered the house staff with a wave of her manicured hand. "Throw it out. Donate it. I don’t care, just make sure nothing of his remains."The maids hesitated—Yemin had lived here for years, and his belongings were intricately woven into the home. But under Katherine’s sharp gaze, they quickly moved to obey. She leaned against the doorway, arms crossed, watching with detached amusement as his suits, books, and other personal effects were packed into boxes. It was pathetic, really—how he had believed he was an equal in this relationship. She was about to leave when she stepped on something that rolled beneath her foot. The tension in Chairman Hargrove's private suite was palpable. Medical equipment beeped steadily in the background, nurses exchanged worried glances, and the collection of prestigious doctors watched with barely concealed disdain as Marcus Chen positioned himself between Yemin and Alexander Hargrove."Alexander, please," Marcus implored, his voice low but urgent. "I know Mr. Ravollor doesn't look the part, but he saved your father's life three years ago when everyone else had given up."Alexander's jaw clenched, his expensive suit barely concealing the tension in his shoulders. "Are you out of your mind, Marcus? Look at him!" He gestured dismissively toward Yemin. "My father needs the country's top medical experts, not some street vagrant you've dragged in here."The son's resistance is unusual, Yemin thought, studying Alexander's body language. This goes beyond mere skepticism or concern.Marcus pressed on, desperation edging into his voice. "Your father specifically asked for him, A

"Such disrespect is unacceptable."Yemin studied the man beside him. Marcus Chen had no idea who he truly was—that Yemin actually owned the company Marcus and Chairman Hargrove managed. All Marcus knew was that Yemin had saved his boss's life years ago using unorthodox methods, and that the Chairman trusted him implicitly."It's not important," Yemin replied calmly. "What matters is Chairman Hargrove's condition."They reached an elevator, and Marcus pressed his thumb against a biometric scanner.
