The following night, Logan, Sean, and a handful of trusted Shadow operatives as well as Garry, made their way to one of the few remaining safehouses linked to the Council’s network that they know of.

The building was an abandoned one, but Logan had reason to believe that it was a front for one of the project’s key players.

As they approached, Logan felt the weight of what was coming.

His earlier determination and confidence had quieted, replaced with the reality of what he had to do.

"Be careful," Sean said, his voice low. "We don’t know what we are walking into."

Logan nodded, though his eyes were hard. "We don’t have a choice anymore, we have to do this."

They entered the building silently, moving down narrow, winding corridors.

The scenario was one filled with tension, each footstep was more like moving close to a potential trigger of danger.

The door to the inner room was unlocked. As Logan pushed it open, they were met with an unexpected sight, it was a lone figure s

With the atmosphere dark, the hallway seemed quite suffocating. Logan’s eyes were focused, his breath steady despite the pain in his side. He could feel his pulse in his ears, the sound of his boots echoed, each step was made with determination to end this problem once and for all. Terrence and Sean flanked him, their movements synchronized, trained, and practiced. The stakes are high now and it wasn't just disputes this was something that needed to be eradicated. This was no longer about just taking down the Council; this was about reclaiming their lives from the chaos that had consumed them for years. "Howe is up ahead," Sean whispered, his eyes scanning the corridor. Logan nodded. "Stay sharp… this is where it all comes together." They reached a large steel door at the end of the hallway, and they found out that a high-tech lock was keeping it shut. Logan didn’t hesitate, he stepped forward and signaled Sean to cover him as he placed a small device against the door an

It was the figure of a man, who was staring at his screen attentively, as his face illuminated the glow of the screens. Each of the monitors displayed a different angle of the now-destroyed facility, he was very much upset. On one of the screens, this man zoomed in and saw his enemies, Logan and his team as they retreated, they were barely visible due to the fire burning and the smoke. He was wearing a suit and a silver ring engraved with a strange symbol, he smirked at the sight of this. His cold, calculating eyes didn’t waver as he sipped from a glass of Hennessy. “Impressive, I must say,” he muttered to himself, spinning the glass lazily. “Logan's resilience is… is irritating, but commendable. And Terrence, oh, Terrence, just so predictable… Always predictable as always.” He pressed a button on his desk, just then a beep followed, and the voice of an assistant responded instantly. “Yes, sir?” “Deploy Unit Seven. I want Logan tracked. Leave him enough rope to play

Logan was quite hot headed and an idea popped into his head and he wanted to see someone in the council, someone high enough he needed to stop playing games with them. He walked towards one of the supposed Council backups and stated sternly. “Hey you, I need to speak to your director right now.” The agent hesitated and surprised that the person they were chasing would come out to the open. And since there were other people who weren't from the council members present at the scene, there was nothing he could do but say; “The Director is currently en route to another operation… she..” “I don’t care where she is,” Logan snapped, his tone brooking no argument. “Tell her it’s about Project Solace, I am sure she’ll listen.” The agent nodded reluctantly, pulling out a secure comm device. As he relayed the message, Logan felt a hand on his shoulder. It was Terrence. His voice was low, almost a whisper. “You think Haynes is clean? This is a dangerous move.” “I don’t know if she is c

Sean pointed to a live feed on the central monitor. The image was a little blurred but it was unmistakably, Patricia Howard, Logan's last shot at love. She was bound to a chair, her head slumped forward. She was out cold and blood was gushing out of her forehead, she must have put on a lot of resistance. The background was a white room room around it were flickering fluorescent lights, thus, it was hard to decipher where she was in. “They took her,” Sean said, his voice tight with controlled fury, he added; “The Council is retaliating, their plan is to hit us where it hurts.” Logan’s blood ran cold as he stared at the screen. His hands were curled into fists to the point that his nails were digging hard into his palms. “Where is she?” Logan demanded, his voice low and dangerous. Sean pulled up a map, highlighting a remote facility deep in the mountains. “Satellite intel puts her here. It’s heavily guarded—Council operatives, drones, and likely traps. They want us to come for h

“Logan Bentley, well, he and his father who was supposed to be our ally continues to defy every expectations. Not only did they rescue Patricia Howard, but also managed to leave a facility we designed to be inescapable, they left it alive and without so much as a scratch. Yet our building fell again, that is totally not acceptable.” The woman in the sharp suit, known only as Wren, crossed her arms and leaned against the table. “The young Bentley is a problem indeed but then the bigger issue is that others are starting to believe the Council can be challenged.” Knox turned his gaze to her, he uttered; “And what would you propose, dear Wren? You failed to keep Patricia Howard under your supervision. I trust you won’t fail again.” Wren straightened, and said, “Bentley’s recklessness is his greatest weakness. He’s predictable, emotional. He’ll always prioritize his loved ones over strategy. That’s how we’ll break him.” Another Council member, a muscular man uttered; “We’ve already

Before the team could finalize their plans, Sean’s laptop blared an alert. It was a red warning that flashed across the screen of his laptop: “Network breach detected.” “They’ve found us!” Sean yelled, his fingers flying over the keyboard. Suddenly, the farmhouse windows shattered as drones swooped in, their blades slicing the air. Gunfire erupted outside as Council operatives descended in waves. “Move!” Logan shouted, grabbing Patricia’s hand. Terrence and Sean covered their escape, firing at the advancing operatives. “Go! We’ll hold them off!” Terrence barked. Thankfully, Alex the mercenary was still around so he had to protect Terrence who was able to get out of there in one piece. Logan pulled Patricia through the back door, weaving through the trees as bullets whizzed and fly past them. The roar of an approaching helicopter grew louder as it gets closer to them, its spotlight was sweeping the forest ever so ferociously. “They’re everywhere!” Patricia gasped for brea

At the hidden bunker, Logan paced about, his mind lost in thoughts as the others worked. Patricia was seated at a corner desk, looking over intercepted Council files, her brows furrowed with all concentration. She might not understand what was going on, as she wasn't a part of this from the beginning, but she was willing to put her smartness to work. Despite the chaos around her, she remained focused, her mind was analysing patterns in the Council’s movements. “I think I found something,” Patricia said, and continued; “They’ve activated something called ‘Protocol Obsidian’ I don't know what it is but I believe it's… not just an attack. It’s a systematic purge. Logan, they’re coming for anyone who’s ever stood with us.” Logan nodded and said; “I figured as much.” Sean looked up from his laptop, his fingers flying over the keyboard. “We’ve got movement, lots of it. Drones, troops, the whole nine yards. They’re closing in on us faster this time.” Terrence grabbed his

Days later, while the Council were mourning and regrouping, Terrence Bentley decided to go see his brother William D'Cruz in prison. The air inside the prison was tense. Terrence Bentley walked through the dimly lit corridors, his shoes echoing as he walked gently and took one step at a time. The guards gave him curious looks but stepped aside as he passed, recognizing the power of authority he carried. Finally, he reached the holding cell where his supposed brother, William D'Cruz, sat slouched on a bench looking even more pathetic than the last time they met. The man who had once been a master manipulator and Terrence’s greatest rival was now a shadow of his former self, dressed in a gray jumpsuit, his face gaunt but his eyes burning with determination.. Terrence smirked as he approached, leaning casually against the bars. “Well, well, well,” Terrence Bentley uttered, his voice filled with mockery; “Look who finally got a taste of justice. I almost didn’t believe it when

Patricia had gone to check on a renovation project upstairs, giving Logan a rare moment alone with his children. He leaned forward, resting his arms on the table. “You’re all too busy.” Seraphina smirked. “That’s rich, coming from you.” Logan chuckled. “I know. But when was the last time you all sat like this? No boardrooms, no deals, no strategies?” None of them answered and then Logan sighed. “You were raised to be strong, to command, to win. But power without family means nothing.” Alexander exhaled, rubbing his temples. “You’re getting sentimental here, Dad.” “Maybe,” Logan admitted and continued; “Or maybe I just don’t want you three to lose what I fought so hard to build, which was not the empire, but this.” Alexander tapped the rim of his glass. “And what exactly is this?” Logan looked at them, they were his legacy, his greatest creations, he utt

Tonight, however it was not about power or strategy, it was about family. Seraphina Bentley stepped out of her sleek car, a product of her company’s innovation. The estate’s lights illuminated the driveway, which was a path she had walked on since childhood. She didn’t need to knock, the doors swung open as if the house itself knew she had arrived. "About time," a familiar voice drawled. She smirked as Alexander leaned again

There were unspoken words between them For years, Troy had imagined this very moment when he would talk to his son in person again, he had rehearsed apologies in the quiet of his guilt, whispered confessions into thin air, but now, standing before his son, no words seemed enough. Ethan’s fists clenched at his sides, his expression unreadable. There was hesitation in his eyes, a war between the hurt of abandonment and the reluctant gratitude he couldn’t ignore. The weight of Troy’s absence had shaped him in ways no one would hope for, but then the knowledge that his father had, in his own way, protected him from Arthur’s threats, from a darkness Ethan never fully understood. "You left me," Ethan said at last, his voice quiet but razor-sharp. "For years, I told myself I’d never forgive you, I even hoped we would never meet." Troy’s th

Troy’s worst fear was confirmed when he saw the back door wide open. 'Oh no, no no…’ Troy thought. His blood went ice cold as he couldn't hear any sound, he walked gently into the house. “Amelia!” he shouted, but no one answered, there was silence. Then suddenly, there was a thud from upstairs. Troy moved fast, taking the stairs two at a time. Ethan followed, his heart pounding. The bedroom door was locked, but Troy kicked it open, his eyes widened. What he saw made him freeze, Amelia was there. A man in black had her, one arm wrapped tightly around her throat, the other holding a knife to her stomach. What if he catches on that I am lying to him? He will kill me and you.” Troy finally turned to him, his gaze transfixed on him, he uttered; “Then we make sure he doesn’t walk away out of this place tonight.” Ethan swallowed hard, he had always seen Troy as the controlled, sophisticated filmmaker, but now? Now, he was looking at a man who had been in the shadows, in the dark before, a man who knew exactly how to handle threats or who used to give one in the past. Troy’s phone buzzed and it was a message from Author. ‘Warehouse. 30 minutes. Come alone.’ Ethan’s stomach twisted. “It’s a setup, Troy.” Troy smirked
