Elizabeth felt her cheeks flush, but she held his gaze, waiting for him to continue.

“Tell me, how did you feel about the meeting? Did it go the way you wanted?”

Elizabeth took a deep breath, gathering her thoughts. “It did, but…in some ways, it was more than just a business trip for me,” she admitted, her voice steady. “I wanted to prove to you and to myself that I could handle this. That I could take on more responsibility, and do justice to the Kennedys name.”

Her father was silent for a moment, he then uttered; “And you did, Elizabeth, I want you to know that I’m genuinely proud of what you’ve accomplished. Not just in Hong Kong, but in taking on this new direction with the business. It’s not easy, and I know that.”

He paused, his gaze softening. “I’ve been thinking about the future of K Enterprises,” he continued. “About what it might look like under your leadership. You’ve shown me that you’re ready to take on more, and I think it’s time we start discussing a gradual t

She stayed silent, hoping to avoid another argument, but as he fumbled for her purse, a bit of rage built up in her heart. He had muttered something about needing cash for “just one more game,” his voice gentle, but Bethany could barely stand to look at him. It wasn’t even just about the money anymore. It was the uncompassionate look in his eyes, the recklessness that seemed to consume him more and more each day. To crown it up, her own exhaustion, working double shifts at the restaurant, stretching every dollar clawed at her. Last night, she’d finally snapped, she couldn't keep in in place anymore. But now seeing that he was about to go at it again wasn't helpful; “Don’t you dare take my money again, Troy. Do you think this is just a game to me? I’m the one holding everything together while you…” He’d interrupted, his words filled with a bitterness that stung as much as his betrayal. “I didn’t ask for you to play savior. I didn’t need anyone telling me what to do, and lo

Naomi went back home with a devastated heart, she was just downhearted that day. Troy had told her not to expect anything but she didn't listen. “Aunt I told you not to bother, they are a heartless group of people and they would never forgive us because that's who they are.” Troy uttered, he was hurt that his aunt was turned away by the Kennedys. “I should have listened to you but I thought at least by now they should have forgiven us. I guess I was wrong. Did you not care about us one day? We were nothing more like a pawn to them. I will do my best to keep the business running. Earlier that evening, the bar was alive with energy as the lights dimmed and pulsed, the bass of the music was high and vibrating through the floor and into her chest as she moved with a practiced grace across the stage. She kept her movements smooth and controlled, her gaze fixed somewhere distant, beyond the lights, beyond the faces. For Bethany, dancing had become both routine and refuge. She didn't love the job, but it was a stepping stone, one that she held onto fiercely, this was the only hope she can get to rise back to the top. The money she earned here would cover her bills, and maybe even help her to pay for her daughter’s school fees and even make something more of herself. She repeated this to herself as she swayed her hips, letting the music flow through her, grounding her resolve. But tonight, something felt different. She noticed Pablo watching her from across the room, his sharp gaze was on her with interest. He was talking to two men seated at the bar, his smil

Troy’s landlord stood at his door one frosty morning with a hand outstretched, demanding for his pay as he was tired of waiting for him to show up with it. Troy had tried really, he had, he took odd jobs here and there, long hours under the scorching hot sun or in the freezing cold, anything to make ends meet. But the small, crumpled bills he brought home barely stretched to cover food, let alone cost of rent. In the dim light of his room, the night before, he stared at the wallpaper which was already crumbling, the mirror was hanging crooked by the wall, beside it was actually little Hilary his daughter who was laying on the bed with no care in the world. Hilary laid fast asleep, her small body curled up under a thin blanket. She was so still, her dark curls were scattered across her pillow and a hint of a smile plastered on her lips. Even though they lead a pathetic life, one different from what she knew, thankfully, she found dreams worth smiling about. Troy Reece

They then handed him an envelope and he turned to leave, his heart heavier than he could possibly comprehend. ‘This is what's best for all of us… I hope you grow up to be a beautiful woman and one day soon, we will meet. I hope you don't hate me then.’ He thought. As the door closed behind him, the sound of her laughter echoed in his ears, a haunting melody that would follow him wherever he went. He walked away, the weight of the money in his pocket feeling heavier than any burden he had ever carried. He didn’t look back. He couldn’t, how could he? A part of him still wanted to run back, to throw open the door, to scoop her up and take her home. But he didn’t have a home to offer her, not a real one, and he knew that. With each step, he reminded himself why he had done it. This was a chance for her safety, warmth, meals that wouldn’t leave her hungry, and a better future. All things he could never give her, no matter how much he wanted to. He walked aimlessly, in the streets

In the State's penitentiary, there was a fat looking man sitting down in a cold cell with his cellmate. He was tired, he had already given up, his wife had asked for a divorce and now he was no longer working with Blue Net Group as his reputation had been damaged. It's been a year since he has been in jail, this man's name is none other than Henry Donald who was the manager of Blue Net Group until the day Logan caught him with Sarah Palmer, since then he has been charged with sexual assault and harassment as well as embezzlement of company funds, but since he was behind the walls there was no way that he would be exonerated by any chance. But things don't always work out the way they plan and bad people mostly get preferential treatment. “Henry Donald, you are summoned, you have a visitor!” A prison guard uttered. Henry Donald was of course confused and curious as he had no idea who that is, because his wife had vowed never to have anything to do with him neither would any of his

Garry was dumbfounded, he didn't expect that such a thing could ever happen. How in the world would the Blue Net Group fund the syndicate? He just couldn't fathom it. “I don't understand uncle, how are they the ones funding the syndicate? I thought that Jaguar's Den Syndicate was started by my father?” Garry asked in shock. “It wasn't, it was started out by both your dad, Mr Terrence Bentley and me. We were a team back in the day. I just spoke to him before coming here, he had no idea who killed him.” Nolen uttered. “No I don't believe it, he was holding this card uncle, clearly they must have had something to do with his demise, but if it's true that you all are close friends, why the hell didn't he come to his burial?” Garry retorted. “He did, you just didn't see him. The reason he didn't show his face was because you are trying so hard to kill him. He didn't want to cause ructions on his friend's burial. So he allowed you to bury him in peace.” Nolen uttered sternly. “I stil

Bethany sat in the car on a quiet road a few miles from the Bentley estate, her hands trembling as she clutched the steering wheel. She had driven here in desperation and Troy as well as Carter had flanked her from behind, but Logan’s guards had turned her away without even hearing her out. Tears welled down in her eyes as she thought about her daughter, alone and in danger. Her phone buzzed on the passenger seat, and she flinched, hesitating before picking it up. Rick’s message was short and brutal; “Time’s up. No freedom, no daughter.” ‘How did he have my phone number? Of course he is a notorious man. What's so special about my phone number that it would be too hard to get?’ She thought. Bethany began to sob, her body shaking as she tried to gather her thoughts. Logan wasn’t coming, he was too caught up in his own war to help her. How could she expect him to drop his own family obligations just so he could save a child who wasn't his, not to talk of one whom she had turn

Patricia stood in the doorway of his study wearing one of Logan’s button-up shirts, her arms folded across her chest. She looked at him with concern, but her voice was steady. “You’ve been up all night, what's up?” Logan turned, his expression softening when he saw her. “I had to plan.” Patricia stepped closer, her bare feet on the wooden floors, even though it was cold she didn't mind, she then uttered; “Planning is one thing and wearing yourself out right before a fight is another.” “I can’t afford to rest,” Logan replied, his voice firm but gentle. “Malcolm won’t stop until one of us is dead. I have to be ready.” Patricia reached out, taking his hand and said; “I know you feel like this is all on you, but it’s not. You have people who want to help you. Damon’s men, the loyal guards here, and… me.” Logan’s jaw tightened. “You’ve already helped enough, Patricia. More than I would ever ask for, B But now, you need to focus on yourself and the baby. I won’t risk you being cau

  • CHAPTER 206

Bentley's estate was quiet but tense. The events of the night replayed in his mind: the ambush at the cabin, Patricia’s revelation, and Damon Salvatore’s shadowy intervention. Everything pointed to one undeniable fact, that this wasn’t just survival anymore. It was war! A soft knock at the study door interrupted his thoughts. It opened slightly, and Patricia peeked in. Her face was calm, but her eyes betrayed her concern. “You should be resting,” Logan said, setting the glass down. She stepped in, closing the door behind her. “I can’t sleep, not with everything happening. Not with you down here, planning who-knows-what.” Logan stood, walking over to her. “Patricia, you need to trust me. I’ll handle Malcolm.” “And what happens if you don’t?” she asked, her voice trembling. “Logan, I’m scared. For you, for us, for this baby. Every time you walk into danger, I feel like I’m losing a part of you.” Logan gently took her hands, his eyes softening. “I know you’re scared, but

The woods were quiet except for the wind, but Logan’s mind raced as he paced the cabin’s living room. Patricia sat on the couch, her hands tightly gripping the edges, her face pale but determined. “We need to leave this place soon, Malcolm already knows where we are now. It’s only a matter of time before he sends more men to cause a scene or worse.” Patricia hesitated, then stood, her arms instinctively wrapping around herself protectively. “Logan, look here, running away won’t solve this. You know that as well as I do.” Logan turned to her, his expression softening but still firm. “This isn’t running, it's called a strategy. We regroup with our own men and plan our next move. Malcolm thinks I’ll be caught off guard simply because I am in the woods, but I won’t give him that satisfaction, hell no! They were the ones who started this, his father hated my father because of a grudge, he killed him and he paid with his life for it, so if this is what I have to deal with for spar

  • CHAPTER 204

The room was eerily silent after Logan’s departure, the reality or the fact that what had just transpired in front of him began to kick in. His father’s lifeless body laid on the floor, and his blood gushing out from his head beneath him. Malcolm dropped to his knees beside William, his hands trembling as he shook him. “Father, wake up!” His voice cracked, desperation could be seen. But despite all the tears and calling, William D’Cruz was gone, his now cold and blind eyes staring at the ceiling into nothingness. The shot was directed to his brain so no amount of surgery could bring him back to life. Malcolm’s breathing was no longer normal, it is more like he was hyperventilating as he clenched his fists. He felt his anger deep into his veins, boiling hotter than he thought possible. His entire world had just been shattered by Logan Bentley, his cousin, and right then and there as he knelt down beside his father's dead body, he vowed and swore to make sure, Logan pays wit

Damon nodded. “If you’re set on this path, Master Logan, then promise me one thing: don’t lose yourself entirely. Your father wouldn’t want his legacy to be remembered in blood.” Logan didn’t respond. He simply turned back to the desk and pulled out a drawer, retrieving a small, sleek pistol that had belonged to his father. He checked the chamber, the metallic click echoing in the silent room. “This isn’t about his legacy anymore,” Logan said quietly. “It’s about vengeance and making sure men like William and Malcolm never hurt anyone again.” **** Days later, seeing his father's remains that was completely unrecognisable, made Logan feel as though he had not done anything yet. He was supposed to be planning his father's burial but all he could think about was William's dead body being brought to the morgue as well. He couldn't just sit back and let his father be buried alone. What was his offence, being really good at everything and being his father's favorite? Well that was t

  • CHAPTER 202

As Logan walked out of his room well dressed, he was no longer just Terrence Bentley's grieving son, oh that ship has long sailed he was a man on a mission, a storm brewing with the promise of destruction. The Bentley estate’s private garage housed a collection of cars, each a symbol of his father’s taste and success. Logan selected a sleek black SUV, its engine roaring to life like a growl from deep within his chest. He peeled out of the driveway, his destination clear: William D'Cruz's sprawling estate on the other side of town. Damon, who saw him driving away, immediately sent trusted men to shadow him. “Ready the men, make sure nothing happens Master Logan is that clear?” “Yes sir!!” They all ran off and began shadowing him, because his safety was their priory, should something happen to him, it could cost them their lives. As the city lights blurred past, Logan’s thoughts were filled with the memories of his father, his warm laugh, his stern yet encouraging words kept

When they got home, they felt relief, but true to Rick's words, they had no choice but to go looking for him. Their child Hilary was nowhere to be found. “Hilary!” Bethany called out with every strength she could muster but her daughter was not home, neither was she at Mrs Grayson's place. She had been abducted. “Oh my God, Carter, the worst has happened.” She uttered. Troy, who was looking around for anything, any clue as to who had done this, he didn't want to assume the worst. After his thorough search from looking around, he saw a letter on the kitchen counter, he immediately opened it and it reads: “You feel you were wide in calling the cops on me, well like I said, you will come looking for me sooner than you realise.” “It really is Rick!” Troy Reece blurted out sith frustration as he broke a mug out of frustration making the couple run from the living room. “Did you find anything?” “It is Troy… read this!” He uttered and handed the letter to them. “Carter, who is this person?” “We need to go to Mr Logan Hudson Bentley for protection.” “Hell no, there is no way I can do that.” Troy blurted out. But Bethany remained silent because Logan and her had resolved their issues or differences that he even gave her this job of modelling and she is more than grateful for that. “Well Troy, I also have a history with him because I betrayed his trust. It wasn't so easy for me to actually bring up his name, but if that is going to be an option, I am going to take it for your safety, and that of Hilary's… or the second option is to set a trap.” Bethany’s eyes widened, “A trap? Come on Carter, are you serious?” Carter leaned forward, his voice calm but firm. “Rick thinks he’s untouchable. If we can lure him out by making him think he’s getting his hands on this evidence, then maybe we can then expose him publicly. Catch him in the act.” Carter uttered. Troy rubbed his chin thoughtfully. “It’s risky, but it could work. Rick won’t ignore
