CHAPTER SIXTY FOUR

Later that night, Logan was jolted from a fitful sleep by the sound of commotion in the surrounding cells. As he opened his eyes, the dim prison lights revealed several hefty, intimidating men in prison uniforms entering his cell. Fear surged through him as he wondered what these men were doing in his space.

Logan sat up, his heart pounding, and confusion clouding his mind. He couldn't fathom why these men had singled him out. One of them approached with a photo and a flashlight, the beam directed right into Logan's eyes. Logan instinctively raised his right hand to shield his eyes from the blinding light, squinting to get a better look at the photograph as the stranger demanded if he knew the guy in the picture.

In the photo was Carter's face, unmistakably recognizable. Logan took a deep breath, swallowing his fear, and responded, "Yes, I know him."

The man holding the photograph let out an exclamation of disbelief. "So, you knew him and still did what you did?"
