CHAPTER SIXTY FIVE

Logan's relief was palpable, and he rushed to the door, his voice shaking with urgency. "I was attacked last night! Some prisoners came into my cell, and they had keys to get in! Look at what they did to me."

The two officers exchanged a brief, uncertain glance, their expressions unreadable. One of them, the older of the two, seemed to recall Logan's injuries from the previous day. He reminded Logan, "You had injuries when you were arrested yesterday."

Logan nodded frantically, desperation in his eyes. "Yes, but I was beaten again last night! Look, I have new injuries!" He lifted his shirt to reveal the fresh bruises that marred his already battered body.

The officer who had spoken earlier interjected, his tone stern, "Listen, kid, we have orders to release you. Unless you want to stay in this cell, I suggest you come with us."
