Six.

It was one pm.

Edgar turned to glance at the lady he had saved last night.

He frowned. How long was she going to sleep? She was snoring loudly and it made the scenario more annoying.

The last thing he wanted was an unknown, snoring lady sleeping on his bed all day and it made him rethink if saving her was a good solution.

"I know you feel like beating her up till she wakes up, but don't think of it."

Edgar frowned. He turned to his right hand side which was empty a few moments again to see Lucas standing. He could not emphasize how much he hated it whenever Lucas did that.

"Why are you always sneaking up on me? Dude, that's creepy. Don't do it again."

"You're not the one to tell me what to do? I always keep on telling you this?"

"What do you want?" Edgar frowned. The dude was annoying. "Just go away."

"You can't tell me to do that, either?"

Edgar turned to him and frowned. "Didn't you say you would gladly leave if I told you to?"

Lucas laughed. "Of course, that's a joke. You have no right to tell me what to do. The only person who does is your grandmother. She put you in my care, so if there's someone to tell the other person what to do, that someone is me and the other person is you."

"You-" Edgar paused.

The lady on his bed turned to the other side.

"I'm only here to stop you from hurting her."

Edgar glowered. "I saved her. Why would I hurt her after saving her?"

Lucas shrugged. "I just want to be careful. That's the daughter of one of the big shots in this city. This lady is also very beautiful and has so many admirers. If you do anything stupid, you'd bring attention to yourself and that's not what we want"

"Do you think she wouldn't get scared if she sees two men in the same room she is sleeping in?"

The lady moved again.

"Looks like she is about to wake up. Goodbye, but remember, don't do anything to hurt her." Afterward, Lucas disappeared into thin air.

Almost immediately, her eyes flapped open and then she sat up straight.

She looked around, furrowing her eyebrows in confusion. Her eyes widened as soon as they fell on Edgar.

"You," She screamed in recognition. "You were the one who pushed me away last night."

"So, you remember," Edgar said dryly, without sparing her a glance. "That means you would also remember the reason I did that."

The lady frowned. "I was drunk. I would never do that on a normal day."

Edgar smirked. "If the tables were turned. And, I was the drunk person, I'm pretty sure I would be in a cell by now."

The lady's face softened. He was making a point. The soft look on her face changed immediately. Embarrassment was now fully written all over her face as the details of last night came back.

"B-by the way. I also remembered how you saved me from those cruel men," she said. Her face was red hot.

"Thank you," She said in a small voice.

Edgar froze. The words touched him. Now that he thought of it, it was the first time in a long time someone had genuinely appreciated him.

"You're welcome," He replied in a tiny voice. He turned to her and looked at her face without saying a word.

"What's wrong?" The lady asked, getting uncomfortable as he stared at her intensely.

"You don't seem like a club regular. Why were you there last night?" Edgar asked and he noticed how uncomfortable she got on hearing his question.

"N-nothing. I-I j-just decided to see how it feels to be in a club," she stuttered. She was obviously lying but Edgar shrugged and turned away from her.

"Did you stay in this room last night?" She asked after a while of silence.

"Yes."

"W-with me?" She gulped.

"Yes," Edgar answered nonchalantly.

"But why would you do that?" The lady protested. If her father who always kept tabs on her finds out that she had spent the night with the opposite gender, that would be trouble.

"You should have gotten us separate rooms. We-"

"I'm not interested in your body, lady. Remember, if I was, I would have gotten it."

The lady's face turned red hot immediately. "Anybody who sees would not care to know if we had such intentions or not."

"That's none of my business. The fact remains that we did nothing."

The lady frowned. "That's easy for you to say. You're the man. You won't understand."

"This was the only room available," Edgar said. He frowned, wondering why he had said what he just said. He hated explaining himself.

The lady sighed. It had happened already. Arguing would never change the fact that they had spent the night in the same room.

"Well, what's your name? My name's Edna."

At first, Edgar said nothing.

"I'm Edgar," he finally said.

"Edgar." Edna smiled. "Our names sound similar."

Edgar said nothing in reply.

Edna got out of the bed, looking around. "Where are my shoes?"

Edgar pointed towards underneath the bed.

In no time, Edna was done with arranging herself and was ready to leave.

"Thanks once again for taking good care of me," Edna said with a big smile on her face. "Goodbye. I really hope I see you again."

Edgar said nothing. He did not spare her glance either. She was no longer drunk and could take care of herself. He did not have to do anything for her again.

Edna paused on getting to the door.

She turned back and looked at Edgar.

"Edgar," She called out softly.

Edgar grunted. He was pretty sure she did not need him any longer. Why was she still pestering him?

He turned to look at her without bothering to mask the annoyance on his face. "What do you want?"

"Another favor ."

Edgar frowned. Give them an inch, and they'd ask for a mile.
