Chapter 11: Request of the potion maker (Part 2)

“This part of the town is far from the mainland.”

The eastern part was more like an out squirt of the town. Unlike in the center. This part of the town is silent.

While I’m running searching for the said to be the big sister of the little girl earlier. I notice that the air looks different from normal. A yellowish fog spreads through the air.

“What's with this smell? My head is spinning.”

Then I remember the time when I was training in the forest. There are techniques I'm doing to stay awake training overnight sometimes.

And it's...

"Smelly mushroom."

I get a small pouch in my bag containing the smelly mushroom. The smell of this mushroom is really strong. The bad smell of this mushroom is terrifying. This is often said to be similar to illegal drugs, but this thing never makes you high or anything.

It just got a strong smell that makes your nose deaf for long hours.

I was very hesitant for a moment. After pulling all my courage, I closely put my nose near the smelly mushroom and sniff a little. Even it’s just a little sniff. I feel like my nose was cut down on my body for a moment.

“Gross…”

Just like I thought, I lost my sense of smell and my body was fully awake.

This yellowing fog around the air must be a form of magic that allows anyone who smells it to fall asleep. Now that I can’t smell anything. I’m practically immune. Good thing that brings one smelly mushroom with me.

I continue to wander around the area. While I’m looking around. I notice a group of butterflies flying in the sky.

As the butterflies fly, they released the yellowish fog that puts people asleep.

Why there too many of them here?

While looking up at the butterflies. A huge crashing sound echoed right beside me. The roof tile of the house was peeled off cause of the crash.

“That hurts…”

I turn my glance to the roof and saw the potion maker's face. She looks exhausted and troubled.

“Potion maker!”

I called out, she turns her glance at me.

Then the little girl earlier must be the little sister of the Potion Maker.

“The young traveler.”

The potion maker stood up and leap toward me. She then gets a potion bottle from her bag and drinks it immediately.

After drinking the bottle of potion. Her body was enveloped by green light. The wound she gets upon crashing and her bruise were healed immediately.

"What are you doing here?"

Potion maker asked.

"Me? I... I-I'm going to help you. Your sister is running around the center city and asking for help.”

"Seriously, she's asking another little girl to fight a monster? There is a lot of Wizards in the city and she asked you?! Talk about stupidity."

Potion Maker then put her hand on her face.

I felt sorry for her little sister after hearing her words. I’m here to help the Potion Maker. But I also have something I wanted to see. The black monster. I wanted to see the black monster.

With my sword, I wanted to cut him down.

Potion Maker immediately turns her head away and made a battle stance with a magic wand in her hand.

Turning my head in the direction she’s looking at. I saw the black monster. It got a big muscular body and a head of a bull. I remember a monster like this in the book Adventures of Emily.

"It's a minotaur" "It's a human cow."

I muttered. Potion maker said at the same time.

"What are you talking about? That's obviously a human cow."

"Ehhhh… But in the book, I read it's called a minotaur."

"I don’t have the time to argue… Fire magic: Spiral flames!”

From her magic want flame circle around and blasted toward the minotaur's body. The thick skin of the minotaur withstand the heat of the fire magic and charge toward our direction like a bull.

“Jump!”

Potion maker and I jump in sideways to avoid the dangerous horn attack the minotaur unleashed.

That looks dangerous. This is not the black monster I'm looking for but this is still a monster. I need to be cautious.

I pull my white sword from my waist and hold it with my two hands. Making a basic battle stance I prepared myself for battle.

“Fire magic: Fireball!”

From the Potion makers wand. Ball of flames was fired toward the minotaur multiple times. Each fireball makes a powerful impact on the minotaur's body making its body knock back after directly being hit.

The Minotaur started to look scarier and his eyes turn red. It made a powerful howling voice that screech through our ears. Using its giant arms, Minotaur smashed the ground creating a smokescreen made of dust.

This one is quite intelligent.

Emerging from the thinning smokescreen. The minotaur charges toward Potion Maker and delivers its giant fist.

Directly receiving the monster's fist. Potion maker flew to the nearby house. Destroying its wall upon impact.

The moment I saw some civilians inside the house. They are all in deep sleep. Even with the ruckus the monsters doing. There are not bothered and continue sleeping. That must be the effect of the yellowish fog earlier.

The potion maker pointed her want toward the sleeping civilians and put a barrier protecting their bodies.

The minotaur is not wasting any time and hastily attacks Potion Makers with his hor attack. Before it landed a hit to a potion maker. I pulled my sword and decided to join the action.

"Wind skill: Wind blade!"

The monster was astonished after his thick skin was cut by my sword.

Taking another chance to attack. I run closely and slash. Cutting his right arm with my sword. The cut arm fell to the ground and blood was sprayed out from his body.

"A human cut my arm... A human cut my arm... A human cut my arm... A human cut my arm… Roaaaaaaaarrrrr--!!"

Its earsplitting roar makes Potion maker and I cover our hear and duck down. After making a terrifying roar. The body tissue on its body begun to stretch out.

“That must be regeneration. This battle is going to be a tough one.”

Potion maker said.

In my mind, I have the same thought.

I did battle a small monster in the forest before when I was training but. This is the first time I battle a strong-looking monster. Battling one feels like a huge leap for me.

"It’s right arm is back to normal.”

I said.

Not only that its body looks bigger than usual. Seems like he got his power boost.

I grip my sword tightly and focus on the minotaur with red eyes.

Wind skill: Flowing gust.

Flowing gust Skill: A wind skill that makes me control a small amount of gust using my sword. This gust also makes my opponent move slower.

Using the gust of wind. I swing my sword from the ground toward the minotaur. The dust from the ground blended with the wind. Controlling the wind I targeted its eyes to cover its sense of vision.

"My eyes! My eyes! My eyes!"

Minotaur scream.

I dashed forward and slashing its body directly with my sword.

Wind skill: Wind blade.

Before my sword skill reaches the Minotaur. Vines pop up from the ground. The vines bind my feet around. The vine is strong enough to lift my body upward. After lifting my body, the vines strongly slammed my body down to the soil.

The aftershock of the attack makes me feel weird. My head was cleared out and my body became numb.

"Little girl!”

The potion maker immediately rescues me. She cut the vines with her fire magic and carry me. She hurried and gets a healing potion and made me drink.

"Drink this slowly."

I drink her potion and started to come back to my sense.

"Are you okay?"

I get up and put my hand to my head.

"My head still hurts but I think I can still fight… Thank you for the potion."

"You seemed to have a good fighting skill little girl, but the thing you did is still reckless… You must be careful. I forgot to introduce myself earlier. My name is Kaoru. How about yours?”

"My name is Laura."

From the soil, another monster appeared. This time it’s a plant girl monster. It has the appearance of a small girl of the same age as me. Her hair has flower ornaments and her bottom half is a giant flower. Below the flower, multiple vines sway around.

"Seems like we have two enemies.”

Kaoru said.

I grip my sword tightly and stay focus.

This plant monster must be the monster that saved the minotaur from my attack earlier.

"I thought I slam you hard to the ground, but look like I failed."

Plant monster said.

"Kouki, What are you doing your late?"

Said Minotaur.

"Is that the way you talked to the girl that saves your life?"

"That wind attack is nothing to me, your assistance is unnecessary."

"Talk about ego… You're the one here who's in trouble fighting two girls. Hehehehe, I starting to think that you're big muscles is just for show."

"I will cut you... Cut you... Cut you... After this."

Said Minotaur with gazing eyes to the green-haired girl named Kouki.

Kouki just looks back with a terrifying gaze replying.

"Let see if you can."

While both of them are enjoying chatting with each other. I fire a wind blade toward their direction.

Because of the flowing wind earlier. Minotaurs movement is slowed a bit and barely dodge my wind blade. Resulting in him losing one of its horns.

"What is that you're cheating?! Were not ready yet!"

Said Kouki to me like a kid who's throwing a tantrum.

"That attack is really awesome, you cut his body easily.”

Said Kaoru.

The minotaur angrily charges toward me and attacks me with its giant fist.

"How dare you cut my horn."

Minotaur crashed the ground and grabbed the rocks. He then throws the rock with all of his strength.

Kaoru and I easily dodge the rocks but the problem was the houses nearby. The rocks were thrown damage the house nearby.

I made a troubled face while looking toward the destroyed house. Because they are under the curse of magic and deeply asleep. Some of the citizens already perished after being smashed by the huge rock.

"Hey everyone gets out of your house a monster is attacking!"

I shouted to wake them up and save themselves.

But I didn't hear any reply from them.

"It's no use the civilian in this area is under a sleeping spell. I don't have enough potion to wake up every here. The wake-up potion I only have is used by me and my little sister… the city assistance should be here but they are taking too much time. It pissed me off."

Said Kaoru.

No way, at this rate the citizens will be in danger.

Turning my glance to the smashed house. I saw red blood flowing out and a hand of a dead man.

This site was reminded me of the tragedy in Rum town. My body started to shake and I became anxious.

"It's like that night... Many people will be slain."

I who became useless is grabbed by Kaoru and dodges every attack the minotaur throw. At the same time, The green-haired girl uses her vine to get us.

"Fire magic: Flame cutter."

With Kaoru's magic, the vine is cut and we're released free.

Rin started slapping my face to wake me up to reality.

"Hey, a little girl wakes up, stop dazing around. We're still in the middle of the battlefield wake up.”

“Bloods and corpses… Am I going to die?”

I muttered.
