Chapter 16: Dark mansion (Part 3)

"Then Laura, what should we do now? We're trapped inside this place."

I lay down on the floor beside Yumi and said.

"Well, I don't know... Any idea Koyome."

"You're going to ask a little girl?!"

Koyome makes a face whose deep in thought and places her index finger on her forehead.

"Then, let's try doing this one... Big sister Laura use the attack you did earlier to break these walls."

"Break the walls?"

"Yup, we can't reach the exit if we follow this sketchy corridor, we might end up here again... So let's just make our own route."

"Make a route by breaking walls... Koyome is a brilliant kid."

I said as I hugged Koyome.

"Stop it, I can't breath..."

I release Koyome from my embrace and team up with Yumi to break the walls.

"Laura, Are you ready?"

"Yes, I'm ready..."

I said and grip my sword tightly pointing in front of me.

Preparing ourselves a battle stance. Yumi and I smashed through the walls of the mansion. I huge sound of destruction is heard in the mansion.

This place is one of the magical places. The rooms are shifting, but there must be a limit to that. If we keep on smashing and smashing walls as fast as we can. There's a huge chance of us getting out of this place.

I accidentally hit something with my sword. It was hard as a rock and I’m not able to move my sword freely.

“I hit something…”

“Smash!”

Yumi uses her hammer and smashed the wall open. Unveiling the monsters whose on the other side.

“My sword indeed hit a monster.”

The monster then charge in our direction and attacked us. Koyome was scared and hide behind my back. Yumi immediately collided with the monster and battle them with her hammer.

Yumi’s battle style looks very brutal but she is indeed strong.

"Laura just continues making holes, I will protect both of you."

Yumi said while she is battling the monsters.

"Thank you, Yumi… Let’s go Koyome.”

I said and break another wall. After few minutes, we manage to break many walls and successfully make a route. Until we reach a part of the mansion with a huge room.

Koyome tripped and fell to the ground.

"Koyome are you okay?"

I said and end her a hand. Lifting her she wipe the dirt on her clothes.

"Yes, this is nothing... Now, where are we?

Replied Koyome as she turns her glance around the room.

"It's so dark here, is there really someone here? Laura Laura Laura..."

Yumi said with her creepy smile.

The darkness is already putting chills on y spines but seeing Yumi’s red eyes and her blood-covered clothes make me feel more spooked out.

Koyome grip on my sleeves. And then closely put her body toward mine.

I can feel that Koyome is really frightened right now. She is shaking and having a cold sweat.

We decided to walk slowly and cautiously. The room is so dark I almost can’t see anything. We didn’t even know where are we going.

As I walked slowly. I felt liquid drops toward my cheeks. I put my hand on it and take a closer look.

“Red?”

Looking closely I recognized it immediately.

My expression turns grim and my hand started to shake.

This is blood?

I immediately turned my gaze to the ceiling and saw a horrible thing.

Koyome fell to the ground and vomit after seeing the ceiling.

On top of us, dead children were hanging around. They all lost some of their body parts. The children's body was torn off and has many wound on their body.

"Those marks look like they are torture to death before they hang them… Hahahahaha…”

"What's wrong with you? How can you laugh after seeing that?”

I asked Yumi.

"Well, I used to be chained like that before and every day my big sister tortures me for an unknown reason… She sometimes uses electric wire or whip of thorns. She takes out my nails and uses me as a dummy for her magic spells... It's amazing, I want to kill her for doing that... Hehehehehe."

Yumi is really a psycho.

Her back story sure is the worst. I’m grateful that she doesn’t have any intention of killing us.

"Kukukuku, Looks like some little kids came to be a part of my collection."

We heard a creepy voice around us.

A demon? I see this place is where the demon stores their food.

"Where are you show yourself."

"Kukukuku, you're so hyped to fight me huh? I guess I have no choice… I wanted to put you three in my collection already… I guess I have no choice… I have to fight! Fight!”

The demon show himself. A demon with three horns and a muscular body, giant wings, and sharp fangs.

"Now the three of you will join the collection."

Yumi who still looking at the hang children asked the demon.

"Hey, are you the one who tortured them?"

The demon got silent and turn its gaze to Yumi who seemed to be really calm.

"Yes, I'm the one who tortures them. Are you looking forward to your turn to be tortured? Then if that's what you want I will start with you."

The demon raises its wings and dashes toward Yumi.

"That's so hasty of you... You should not underestimate kids these days."

Yumi got the eyes of the demon and squash them using her hands.

She did it using a hand knife?! Where did she get that thing?

The demon started screaming in pain.

"My eyes! My eyes! ... ..."

"Binding spell: Electric blind."

Yumi cast her magic and bind down the demon and stepped down on it. The demon keeps on struggling, but it’s no use. Yumi is clearly dominant.

"What is this? A blinding spell from a kid should not affect my body. Just what in the world are you... Tell me !"

"You're noisy... ..."

Yumi cut the tongue of the demon.

"I notice that there is something wrong with you're torture. Let me show you how to become more sadistic."

I cover Koyome's eye's from Yumi who performing torture on the demon.

Seeing Yumi and the demon.

I started to wonder who is the real demon between the two.

"Yumi stops fooling around, let's take this chance to escape before some more demons arrive."

I said.

"Laura you're a killjoy, but I guess you have a point... .... Byebye Demon..."

She ends the life of the demon by beheading the demon slowly as possible.

The demon burned and turn to black smoke.

…

"Wind skill: Wind blade!"

I use my sword to make a way again out of the large torture room.

We run to the hole I made and saw a window with light.

"Light? That means the exit is near. We need to get there quickly."

Yumi followed my back while I carry Koyome behind my back.

"I can see it from the window the trees from outside."

Said Koyome.

"The window is closing and transforming to a wall. We need to hurry up."

"Yup."

Behind me, Yumi accidentally steps into a Trap Demon and swallowed her body whole. The demon doesn’t have intelligence and just there waiting to eat someone who stepped on it.

I can still see Yumi in the monster’s tummy.

"Yumi!!"

I shouted.

"Don't worry about me… Go and save yourself."

Even she said that. I feel wrong leaving her behind. At this rate, Yumi might die. What should I do now? What should I do? Mama, Mayu, Koyuki-san, Rin-san... What should I do in this situation?

"Koyome, stay still..."

"Huh?! What are you going to do?"

"Wind skill: Flowing gust."

I use my wind skill to Koyume and make her fly away to the window. Resulting in her escaping to the mansion.

"Big sister Laura--!!"

Now I only have one more thing to do.

Then, inside the monster's tummy.

Yumi started to remember her life in a flash.

She remembers her big sister who always loves her and tortures her.

"Big sister, always told me that no one will help me, because I'm odd and creepy. No one will help me because my eyes are red and look like the eyes of a demon... Look's like she's right, I will die and never gonna be saved by someone. I'm so pathetic..."

At the moment Yumi closes her eye's a light suddenly appeared in front of her.

"Wind skill: Wind blade."

I open up the tummy of the demon releasing Yumi. I pulled Yumi’s arms and made her back outside. I then slashed the head of the demon.

Yumi who seemed to be surprised by my action look at me silently.

"Why did you save me? You can save yourself earlier by going out using the window."

Yumi asked still with her creepy smile but anxious at the same time.

I slapped her face.

"What are you an idiot? I thought you're an amazing skilled psycho girl, how the heck a simple demon got you?"

"You're still not answering my question... Why you help me?"

She asked me one more time and I replied.

"Of course I will save you, helping someone is just common sense."

"Saving someone is common sense… Even I got these weird eyes and odd behavior?"

"What are talking about? You're indeed odd and weird… But I don't want to leave a friend in danger. You became my friend right?"

"Friend? Me? We're friends?"

I can't really follow her words but...

"Yes we're friends, and let's get out of here together."

I said and held her hands.

Yumi’s expression changes and instead of a creepy smile. She made a sweet smile instead.

"That's right, Laura is my friend. Laura is my friend. My very very first friend."

Very first? I started to imagine her life before and it seemed very sad. I guess, being friends with her will not hurt.
