Chapter 34Lynette’s point of view My attention centered on my father, I had ask him the most important question, one that cored my curiosity and he went silent. As though contemplating whether or not, he should let me know what I curiously need to learn. Seconds ticked by and I was about calling the silence out when his voice beat me to it. “We went to a seer, and request her to look into your origin, your existence, whatever that accounts to your specialty.” He began, and I realize he was going to narrate in full detail rather than give straight answers. “The Seer spoke about a prophecy, she said something about the sacred red moon, when it shuns at its peak, your fire would burn, it would burn so bright an attraction from it would spread all over. She said, many would crave you and none would offer your safety.” I was following, grasping whatever I could grasp from the tale, trying to create a connection with it all. “We asked what she meant by that, and she enlightened us ab
Chapter 35Lynnette’s point of view I bade them bye, leaving the premises hurriedly before my mom had more chance to stuff more goods with me. Since I told them about Theo’s false plan of having a baby with me. She had been so happy and hyped she opted into packing all the food meant to boost and strengthen my system up to accommodate the life we’re expecting. I tried to stop her but she wouldn’t listen. Now there was nothing I could do about returning empty handed like I came.My father made sure to hand over the piece of paper containing the spell that is suppose to undo the witchery done to me. We were moving out of their house, my guards already ahead of me, settling all that was given to me in the right places in the car. My parents escorted me out of their room, standing by the entrance as they waved at me. “Next time you’re visiting, I want a bump swelling already in your stomach!” My mother yelled from the porch. I chuckled, beneath the pain that shot through me knowing
Chapter 36Lynnette’s point of view The ride to the capital took an extra three hours, but we arrived and for the first time, I’m actually viewing what the capital looks like with my own eyes. Quite different from what I imagined it would look like and pretty impressive actually. The capital is a large estate situated deep amidst the woods of the western region. It’s the home of Lycans, but they are generous with their accommodations to accept lost creatures with no home with them. I hadn’t expected it to be this modern and beautiful, I wonder how much was spent structuring this whole place. The drive to the palace took no longer than a few minutes, the car packed at the right spot in the garage built within the walls of the palace. I stepped out of the car, with a guard at the front aiding my departure. My sight wavered to my surroundings, glancing away from the building that formed off the regency era. The exterior was large and impressive, it reflects the wealth and power hel
Chapter 37Darius’s point of view “You were all betrayals.” My voice toned out, hands falling behind me into a clasp as I stepped into motion, pacing left to right addressing the scene in front. “And as you all know, that is something I do not condone.” My feet halted, gaze trailing to their faces to see the tremor building on their eyes. “Not even in the slightest.” “You held a meeting behind me and discuss together on how to dethrone me. How do you all plead to the proved accusations?” I turned to face them, pushing out my arms as I relayed my words. They exchanged glances, head bent low, the faint smell of fear clouding their aura. “We’re sorry, Your Highness. We were manipulated, we were never going to carry out our plans, Adrien exploited us-“ His gurgled with his words stuck between his throat, my gaze on him intensify as he began gasping for air. A certain invisible force lifted in his lung to keep it from respirating oxygen, in and out. His eyes bulged and sweats domina
Chapter 38He paced around his closet, mulling over the idea skulking at the surface of his mind. He was yet to phone Anders, because he needs to be sure about this. Deciding it was the best and only option, he went back to his room, obtaining his phone on the bed where he flung it, he operated to dial Ander’s number. “Shit!” He cussed, finding out his phone was still dead and he’s yet to charge it back up. The patched up state of the phone does nothing than mock him on his need to get a new one, with a cracked screen, broken battery and many more. He should have gotten it even. However, his earnings, savings were all getting sucked out of his pocket by his debt. One he got in just to save his girlfriend from dying, the lover who later betrayed him and left him for a better man she believed. A knock rang on his door, interrupting his thought as he jerked a head towards the door. It wasn’t unlocked, and the only visitor in mind knocking wouldn’t be anyone other than his assistant.
Chapter 39Marco got to his old apartment, unable to stop his head from recalling what went down right where he was. His girlfriend betraying him, cheating on him, and casting him out. He heaved a sigh, drowning the dejected feeling that seek to shroud his head as he went straight to his wardrobe. He searched under a clean heap of folded clothes, where he found a box. He took the box out, opening it to reveal some documents. He brought one out of them out, giving it an inspective view. It was the document handling his ownership of the house he stood in. And another was a copy of the file he signed when Gina fell out with her sickness, the surgery that was performed for her to save her. His finger trailed on that particular document, letting his mind date back to their good times. She has always been the best girlfriend, never for once messed over the fact that he was beneath her. She’s the daughter to one of the notable family in the city, well respected and wealthy. Yet she f
Chapter Forty “You’ll be repaying elsewhere, and not my bed or anywhere inside this house.” He further said, rephrasing his previous words. “Marco!” Gina seared away from her boyfriend, a bit startled by Marco’s presence as she took slow steps towards him. “What are you doing here?” She asked, knowing damn well the house doesn’t belong to her or her boyfriend to ask a question like that. “You do know that this is my home right, and today isn’t going to be like yesterday that you and your boyfriend threw me out.” His brows nudged closer, and his gaze narrowed to where the boyfriend stood. “I can still throw you out, we’re paying the rent together and I just renewed the rent of this particular apartment, only I without your help. Which actually makes me the owner. So tell me what you are doing here before it goes back to being like yesterday and you’re once again chased out.” She took a cocky stance against Marco, folding arms on her chest. Dren, her boyfriend remained silent rega
Chapter 41Marco was still looking into things in his room when a knocked barged on his door. He expected the knocker to be Gina or her boyfriend, he knew they were still going to throw at least brief tantrum over what happened. However, when he opened the door he wasn’t expecting to see the cops. “Mr Lourd, you’re under arrest for trespassing into somebody’s property without their consent or permission. You’re going to need to follow us to the station please.” The officer briefed Marco, handing out cuffs to use on Marco when he stepped backwards. “You want me with you, very well. But I won’t be wearing that.” I stood by the kitchen’s counter, lids concealed with my hands placed on the rails for support. Pain nudged through my system and I fought the urge to express it out loud as my lips quivered. “I don’t have to come back here and still meet you here, Myra.” With resentment, she laid the warning, departing the kitchen afterwards and leaving me to my misery. I was suppose to
